edit the engine appears to be manufactured from 89-99. It has a solid state coil and that’s what I get for not pulling the shroud off to fully inspect! When I originally ran the numbers I couldn’t find much information so I apologize for not being more thorough. That’s a bummer!
The deck manufacture date could be a mistake so to avoid misinformation I have removed anything with dates from the video title. Still hope you enjoy!

With that being said, it is my first ever video and I have much to learn. Any suggestions for improvement, projects you would like to see on the channel and/or editing tricks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for watching and enjoy!

Just an FYI. That mower was made in 1989. I had one of these a couple years back and found out the 9-20203 means 1989 and model 20203. Nice mower. I loved mine but didn't need it anymore.

@@tripplesrule I have addressed that I misread the date code, thank you though. I really like this old mower, 3.5 horse has plenty of power and it cuts great!

It looks more like a 1995 model, not a 1959. The manufacturer must have made an error.

@@mwand89 it’s possible. My research points towards the deck being accurate but I don’t know about the engine. I don’t get too much information when I run the numbers

@@olliedoggarage9964 I proved it's not a 1959 because lawn mowers during that time don't have handle mounted safety bail cables, plastic parts, or other modern features. Most lawn mowers in 1959 have embossed decks!

No its made in the 95th day of 1999 code [0959[ = [095] Day [9] year. They only did this in the 90s. Mine is 0312 which means the 31st day of 1992 or January 31st 1992. I just turned 2 lol.

output shaft seal likes to leak on those. watch out for it leaking oil under the mower

The old ones are better than the new ones. They last longer and if they burn a little oil they will outlast most the new stuff anyway. Most were built out of better material.

@@railbaron9 this is true. My 68 Chevy feels like a tank compared to newer stuff. Maybe it’s the lack of insulating and sound deadening tho

That mower was made in 1999 dude. Ive had the same mower for 10+ years and have 2 of those tecumseh 3.5 hp engines. In the 90s Murray used the Julian calander system. First or Last number is the year. The rest is the day contextually. In your case, yours was made on the 95th day of 1999. They didn't have electronic ignition in 1959 lol. Mines from 1992.

Or plastic tanks. in 1959 they were all metal lol. The exhaust would be a plumbing pipe with pipe thread if it was 1959.

Thank you, I have addressed that I was incorrect with the year. This video was not intended to be educational. With that being said, I misread the identification tag, yes I'll own that. I considered that maybe the deck was original and a modern engine had been equipped. I also considered, about the plastics comment, the tank and the air box had been replaced with newer, more affordable parts. As for the coil, I never removed the shroud to investigate because it had spark from the get go. Yes, I'm aware if it had been points and condenser style ignition it likely would not have made spark and that should have been an indication. Thank you for inspiring me to make a waiver statement before my future videos reminding everyone these videos are for content and not knowledge. Thanks again for watching
