Good job Tyler, we all started in the same position. One tip: before cycling power, look for fault code. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄

How come you didn’t check the micro amps on the flame sensor? But it nice to see your son put interest in what you do.

We normally do. He couldn't get the spade connector off the fs. I already knew what was going on.

So it's OK do run gas flex line inside of the furnace?! Not code here, must be iron pipe, and we install drip legs.

A couple comments,,, firstly,, good video 👍🏼…. Always measure the flame sensor before and after cleaning. You want to quantify what progress was made (or not). Imo the sand cloth debate is bunk. I don’t think it would make grooves but even if it did why would it matter? We are sending voltage to a piece of metal. That voltage is being conducted through a lit methane/propane to ground. The board measured the amperage to determine how well there is a path…. Grooves might even help with rectification due to additional surface area? The silica in the sand cloth will not coat the metal

I heard that if you sand it the little scratches make it get dirty faster is all.

Thank you! Yes, we normally check the micro on the Flame sensors. My Son was having a time getting the connector off. So I just said to take it out and clean it. I already knew exactly what was happening. They have cat litter boxes in front of the furnace and all that dust gets on the flame sensor

Yea I agree with you. I've seen flame sensors with grooves and had them still work great. I've cleaned some of the ultra low nox flame sensors with sand paper cuz they get a thick layer of corrosion on them. Steel wool grade #1 is my go to. Good for copper too

The only time to replace if it's been cleaned a lot over the years or if the porcelain insulator is broken.
