I really appreciate all of these girls on RU-vid reviewing foundations to help us choose which to buy.. But to be honest, they all have ridiculously flawless skin to begin with. I need someone with shitty skin like myself. Freckle covered, scarred.. All that jazz. Lol
i think its outrageous that revlon can include a pump in their 14 dollar foundation but NARS wont include one in their 45 dollars one, WTF there is no excuse for this!!!
I actually prefer it without a pump because I get every last drop out of that container lol. I guess I'm cheap. I find that if I turn the bottle over by plugging the hole with the back of my hand, 2 or 3x across the surface of my hand is enough for my whole face.
My holly Grail foundation!!! Finally somebody mention it!!!! If you set it with Mattifiing powder it's going to last longer than you expect. Been using this product for years
perecrestok girl if u have oily skin too, get the Urban Decay Deslick Setting Spray. It's an effin' game changer. Use blotting paper instead of powder to touch up with if you need it.
I have been using this for years! It applies best with a damp beauty blender for sure! I also set it with a powder and it lasts all day. If you want to make it look even better, apply a setting spray. The quality of this stuff is amazing!
Question: do you dot the foundation on your face first and then blend out with the damp BB or do you dot it on with the BB? I'm always looking for the best way to apply foundation 😊
KitschSnitch I wanted to love the application with a sponge but alas, those who have emlargened pores that are fairly deep like me (even with a pore primer) might benefit from the It Cosmetics Omg Foundation brush. It's bristles are compact and it's a fat brush rather than flat so you can press the bristles into the skin in a similar manner you do a sponge and the bristles get into those pores whereas a sponge can tend to apply the makeup only across the flat surface of the skin and completely ignore any indented areas because it can't reach inward. I also0l find I don't waste as much product with this brush (I can use about half really) because while bristles hold the liquid, they don't absorb it like a sponge. So, in short, some skin types may benefit from a brush vs. sponge. However, the type of brush and manner of application is also relevant. Look up the aforementioned brush if any of you have pore issues and use that like you would a sponge. Try using less product than you do with a sponge as well and your results should be beautiful. Could be anyway. Everyone's different.
I've tried loads of different foundations from drug store to high end and I always come back to the Revlon Colorstay. it does not break me out an last quit long. Using this foundation with the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free primer is magic!! Beats all other foundations I've tried hands down!
I have HORRENDOUSLY oily skin on my T zone. The worst is my nose, and chin. My foundation melts off my nose the first, and usually is all gone after a couple of hours of wearing. I have tried the majority of tips given by Nikki's videos, from primers setting sprays, setting powders, ans eye primer. Spent a lot of money on expensive foundations from Urban Decay, to IT Cosmetics, and others that are in the higher price range. Nothing stopped the makeup from melting off my nose. NOTHING!!! I have very low self esteem image wise, and wanted to hide my face the moment I noticed the red nose rearing its ugly head due to foundation meltage......until I bought this product on my own today due to all of the other epic purchase failures. When I was paying for it, I thought to myself whether a review was done on it or not by Nikkia! Low and behold! I use a primer to start, then apply this foundation. I don't need a setting powder, nor eye primer. This foundation stays! What would be melted away within a few hours, this particular one remains intact! No more spending $40 on foundations for oily skin that never worked for me. I will use this one for now on!
I sympathize, I have used many expensive foundation as well, from Estee Lauder to Marc Jacobs and not stayed for more than a couple of hours if that, this one has been my Holy Grail for a few years now and I have hot flashes that would melt lava (grin)
So I bought the Revlon foundation and compared it with my maybelline one :D I have the 300 ‚something’ beige, it‘s more yellowish than the maybelline one but it fits my skin tone. I put each foundation on one half of my face and look, the Revlon doesn’t make you face oily \(◦‘□‘◦)/ I love it and you just need a little bit for a natural looking coverage :J I love it! Would definitely buy again!
U know why i love ur reviews 1.our skin color is EXACTLY same so i dont have to try a million shades to find my shade 2.skin type is combo so i like more of sorta matte finish foundations 3.u do checkins 4.ur reviews r overall amazing
I just bought this and loved it instantly. I apply with a beauty blender. It's so smooth on the skin all day feels like silk. Covers my scars and small spots even with one layer. Just put one extra over the tougher scars. And it lasts allllll day, looks like I have just put it on! I do use a primer but all other long lasting foundations Iv used still never lasted all day. Iv tried Estée Lauder and didn't rate it. I'll always buy this from now on
Been using it and damnnnn. REPURCHASING!!! my oily and pimpled skin takes in this bay boy v well. Stays on, like it said 24 hours and amazing coverage! it does take a bit to set in so just use press powder and get it a matt finish. Good pricing as well.
This is 100% my holy grail (I have tried so many high foundations and this one is always the one I go back to) my mum always used it and now i am too, i have for years and i think i will for a long time - i have horrible, oily, accne prone skin (also they do have more sandy shades rather than pink, I dont know why you couldnt find any :/ ) 💞💞💞
I love this foundation. In the 90 I remember using this with it's powder and concealer and it would stay put throughout the day even in the steaming hot summer. I used many others and was never impressed enough. Now I'm back to it again.
I absolutely love this foundation. The too faced born this way foundation says it's oil free but it creases so much and makes my face look so cakey this foundation is way better than born this way.
I got the combo/oily skin one as well as I have oily skin. I agree with you. Coverage is medium to full coverage. I have large pores and I found that it emphasized it even more. I live in a hot, humid area. What I just hate about it is it oxidizes, so I end up looking like wearing a mask as the day goes by. Also, I can't find a color match, so I try something a little lighter and just contour to even it out. But it then again ends up a make-up blunder when it oxidizes. I wish they had more shades for warmer skin tones.
when i use a sponge it kinda helps minimizing my pores and i do have large pores like huge but at the end of the day it does emphasize it when i get super oily. patting powder will help blur the pores. loreal pro matte is my holy grail cos this one breaks me out.
at first I didnt really pay attention to your facial beauty. I was more focused on the way you speak and personality. But now the more I watch your videos, the more Im drown to how beautiful your facial feature. I remember when Kelly Osbourne (is she the one who was on fashion police?) said she didnt realise how beautiful Nicky Minaj is. Until times took her and slowly hit her with Nickys gorgeousness. I instantly thought of that scenerio when I saw you. You win both face and personality. and btw youve been very helpful with your videos. peace ✌
I purchased this foundation a couple months ago and the first time I wore it I used your tips ad tricks for extending a shine free look (allowing 30 minutes for my skincare to "settle", layering setting spray -UD All Nighter- before and after application, applying powder -Laura Mercier Translucent- before and after application and I used Dr Brandt's Pores No More primer, etc) and I'm excited to say this stuff lasted me over 12 hours without any touch ups! In the Summer! And my skin looked great! I wasn't shiny!! I am in my late 30's and have had EXCESSIVELY oily skin my entire life and that has NEVER happened to me before! (Due to financial restrictions, I have yet to try Loreal infallible or Estee Lauder Double Wear) I give this foundation a 10/10!!! I will say, with my skin at least, I've noticed that it holds up better if I apply a thin layer with my beauty blender, and then build it up if necessary, as opposed to a thicker layer all at once. I was in a hurry one day and accidentally applied a thicker layer and it got oilier than usual. Then again, because I was in a hurry, I also didn't give my skincare 30 minutes to settle and I've noticed that no matter what foundation I use that makes a huge difference as well, so...
I absolutely love this foundation! I've use this for almost a year! I apply it with a damp beauty blender to get the perfect air blend finish. I've gotten a lot of compliments saying how flawless my skin looks because of the foundation.
I love this foundation, my favorite is the whipped version, but this one is really good too. If you're concerned about flashback, use the whipped version, as there's no spf in it, this version will give a lot of flash back.
It's definitely my favorite. I have tried tons of "brand" named foundations and I seem to always come back to this. I picked this out in high school when I had no idea about makeup! It seems like I knew more then! Lol
i luuuuuuuuv this foundation!!! I have extremely oily skin and it wears well. yes it oxidizes but only a little. my color is Cappuccino but recently I bought Caramel, which is a shade lighter and it looks even more amazing!!
this is my holy grail foundation! I have EXTREMELY dry skin and a little bit of moisturizer and the dry skin formula makes my skin look flawless! This and the naked skin foundation are my go to's but honestly I like the reckon one more!!
I love this foundation! I watched this video then bought it. For me, it cakes at first but once set, has a flawless finish and is natural/matte. Medium coverage and slightly oxidises. I highly recommend it!
I've tried so many foundations and finally thanks to your recommendation I have found one that works. Now, I have to mix two to get my color but I can't complain.
this was my holy grail foundation for summer haven't used it in ages. i got more paler and i have strong yellow undertones as well so hopefully i'll find my closest shade.
This is the best foundation I’ve ever used. I used to switch between Clinique and Too Faced, and I much prefer this one. My skin is very oily and I can wear this all day and not have to powder once throughout the day.
I would try getting both formulations in the same color. Use the oily one for just your t zone & inner cheeks. Use the other formulation on your dryer areas. Different skin requires different measures. Same as when we're tan. It's a different color and a mix of the two when our tan is fading. Gotta give your skin what it wants and if your skin wants two different things... welp. Problem solved.
I habe the exact same skin as yours... oily, color, pores, everything. Except one difference. I am 40 years of age. Lucky for us oily gals, our skin tends to stay younger longer due to the natural hydration. The only difference now between my skin having looked just like yours at your age and what it has become is pore enlargement. Sure everything sags a little bit but mainly I've held together pretty well so far. The point? I use this foundation & have been using it for years. I keep coming back to it because you really can't beat it for the price. I've tried. I do use a primer & setting spray. I find the setting spray to be most important of the two, specifically Deslick for oily skin by Urban Decay (which is the same as youll find from the company Skindavia). The last magic trick in the combination I swear by is blotting paper throughout the day rather than adding more powder. More makeup creates build up and cakeyness whereas blotting the oil from the t zone & cheeks will allow your look to stay fresh. I do touch up my concealer if needed under eyes &/or blemishes because oily skin tends to smudge mascaras (even the waterproof ones). I apply a thin layer of powder to set that but that's it for skin touch ups and I'm usually only looking at once and a very very slight amount of product (barely any- just enough to brush out the smudges, and I don't pull across which can cause any previous makeup to "break"). Just dab a concealer brush and flick in short, light strokes with a small amount of product. Jury's still out on which concealer is best for fine lines. I want to love Tarte Shape Tape because of its dry down & stay ability but unfortunately when you have fine lines and oil, the Shape Tape still enhances that issue. Nothing by Mac has done the trick.aybe I should start my channel for those of us later in years. I am an artist after all. Hmm. Anyway, I love this product. I love Deslick setting spray by Urban Decay. And I love a good blotting tissue. Also, another trick for oily faces? Minimize your setting powder. Most of us put too much on and all it does is melt later and cause that awful unnatural cakey skin look. A lot of the shine on your skin from your foundation is caused by it needing time to dry down not your actual skin. So instead of trying to absorb it all with powder, wait. Do your eyes first. Do your contour & highlighter, and blend in your blush first. This technique holds all those products on longer because there isn't a layer of powder between those & your foundation. Therefore, the blush, contour, and highlighter act as your setting powder alone creating less cake in the end. The only places your skin will actually need setting powder are the excess areas of foundation that have not yet been addressed by another product. I'm an artist of the canvas as well and have developed a few tricks that work really well that are not repeat information from video to video. Just little details like this that help keep that face looking flawless for oily girls in particular. Hope this info helps someone. ❤️
I miss the old product. I can't do spf or my skin breaks out like crazy. suks but I wish companies would stop putting spf in everything, not every of can use it
I use this over my BB cream which is super moisturizing and considering that I have oily skin, this really lasts all day. I would blot midday or touch up with Loreal Mat foundation of I want better oil control in the afternoon. It doesn't break me out too. Two thumbs up!
I love this stuff too and use the Mac studio fix powder over it to give more of a Matte look. I don’t love when it transfers on to stuff when it’s hot like my cell phone maybe I’m doing something wrong? 🤷♀️
I love this foundation I mix it with my double wear if it's hot or a longer day! I apply with a damp sponge and set with powder, and instead of oily I look blowy. Great video as always xx
I have this same foundation and i cant understand how everyone says its full coverage! You all must have amazing skin. I agree that the formula looks very good and natural but it doesnt covers any of my pimples or acne scars:/
Paulina Imbert the original formula did. They keep messing with the formula and now it's thin and you can't dot on a spot for extra coverage like I used too. :(
I think using a primer when reviewing a foundation is kind of senseless since people want to see the longevity of the product w/o anything thats helping it stay longer
well the best way to review it is to use it how you would normally every day (which involves a primer for most people). You want to give it a fair shot.
It's my favorite! I apply with my fingers, and sometimes dilute it down with my favorite BB/CC cream for a more sheer application. Cheers! Love your videos!
I love this foundation! I have very slightly oily skin and red undertones. I wear the ivory shade. I have been using it for 6 months now and it works great. I'm poor so can't afford anything top of the range.
Thanks for the review! I was a bit upset as well about the pink undertones but quick fixed it with a yellow setting powder. ELF has an HD one for $6 :)
I've used this foundation for the last few years I can remember, I was lucky enough to get a really great colour match for my very fair with yellow undertoned skin. I did find it easy to blend, good coverage for what I wanted, without covering all my freckles it still looked like my skin. I used this when my skin was transitioning (if that makes sense) when I started on the pill, so my skin went from really truly combination oily/dry and acne ridden to a more toned down oily/dry with no acne (woohoo!), and it's managed really well. So if you're only mildly combination it will still work quite well. And totes affordable in comparison to high end brands ka-ching!
This one is my favorite drug store foundation. I don't use a primer, I use milk of magnesia and it stays on all day. I put my makeup on at about 5:30am, no touch ups at all, and remove it about 9 or 10pm. It stays on like I just applied it and I have super oily skin. I love it!!
I got the dry/normal skin one and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with blemishes or scars if you are pale. I got the lightest color, ended up washing it all off and cutting open and getting what I could of my old foundation it was that bad. It just moves, doesn't cover anything and I have just a bit of dry skin, nothing else. The color match was perfect though, but other than that, shit.
Nikkia Joy I used nude by nature primer, as its the only primer that doesn't make me break out. My best friend uses this foundation and it always looks amazing on her but it looked horrible on me. It might be because I'm so pale, I'm not sure! It just didn't work out for me which was disappointing because the color match was awesome!
+becstar must work differently by the primer you use and by the way you apply it. I have very pale with dry skin and it's the best foundation I've ever tried. Even better than MAC. It lasts all day for me. The ONLY downfall I've had with it is that it turns slightly orange when you sweat.
dancegirlxx100 Yeah it's weird. I can't try it with a different primer because every one I've used except nude has irritated my skin and made me break out. I tried applying it differently but it still looks horrible up close. Feels like such a waste. But I'm glad it's worked for some people, my skin just hates it lol
+becstar So weird. I've been using the dry formula for years and i love it. It stays all day, has a full coverage without looking cakey. Maybe you should use the combo/oily one? I'm pale myself and Buff is perfect.
Such a useful video ! I'm an oily girl and I've had my eyes on this foundation for a while so I'm so happy you've done this video ! I value your opinion so much ! Thank you Xx
everyone says this oxidises but for me it doesn't😅 it gets slightly lighter throughout the dry which i don't mind because my shade is a tinyyyyy bit too dark but overall amaaaazing foundation 😍😍
I love this foundation! It's been my go to holy grail for the last couple of years. It's awesome. Only thing I'm sad about the new packaging is that now it has SPF, which is great now for an everyday foundation but I also loved to take pictures w this foundation since it photographed amazingly! Now that it has SPF I'm afraid the pics won't be as great anymore. :(
Thanks for all your hard work in showing the time lapse results. Loving your videos! I'm a brunette with oily skin and large pores around my nose, which I never looked at close up until I started watching your videos. Ha ha. But it's a good thing because now I know what I'm dealing with.👍🏻
Use to be my only foundation I'd use, I swear by it for keeping me matte for a while but after about 6+ hours it looked so bad, I wasn't shiny but it had caked up, rubbed off, the coverage wasn't there, so I switched to the Estée Lauder!
For me it works better without primer in the oily/combination which is what my skin is. I use a matte or shine free powder and it's best foundation I've tried, Estee Lauder double wear didn't do better so I can't justify the money difference.
Great review!!!!! I've only tried the Revlon colorstay whipped foundation and love that one..... I'll have to try the OG colorstay foundation, it looks very pretty.
I live in Florida where It's hot and humid. I have very oily skin and this product works well. However I where this one in winter cause my skins a little less oily. Summer I wear the loreal pro matte.
Unfortunately the new colorstay with the pump is terrible compared to the formula that didn't have the pump. It's such a shame, it used to be my favorite.
How was it compared to Rimmel Lasting Finish? It's quite heavy for my own liking. And it gets heavier and oily after 6 hours. Very uncomfortable. Plus, I'm wearing spectacles which worsens the uncomfortable feeling and it stains on my spectacles. Ughh!
Alexandra Moraru I use this foundation and it's the best. I'm a teenager so I have naturally really oily skin and I never have any problems while wearing this product.
Alexandra Moraru I used to like this foundation when it didn't had a pump. I used the one for oily/combination skin and when they came out with the new one i bought it and it seems to me like they didn't changed the packaging only but the formula aswell..so it doesn't work for me anymore...it looks cakey and feels sticky even with a primer..i don't know if i'm the only one who notice that but oh well..
I have oily skin, and I use the Revlon Colorstay for dry skin, because it lasts longer! The only thing is the shade selection is a vast as the oily skin. I know a couple of dry skin girls that like the oily skin formula better! Go figure !
