The instructions on the Revlon tool specifically say to only use the low setting for thin hair. High is for thick hair. My hair is thin and the low setting is perfect for a salon quality blowout.
The way she is using the brush in this video is also technically incorrect. The way she is using huge chunks of hair and on the high setting is going to hurt her hair more.
@@veronicapetrov184 I'd suggest you take smaller sections and make sure that your hair is 75% air dried before you use it. If your hair takes a long time to dry (mine doesn't lol) I'd suggest just air drying with a hair dryer just until it's damp, always make sure you have some kind of heat protection in your hair, and then use the tool. I hope that helps!
Hair must be 80%-90% Dry. Avoid use the hottest option Use heat protection products before use the blowdrier Hair must be detangled Cool option helps to seal the hairstyle
That's ridiculous. If you avoid using the "hottest option", the only option left is COOL! And no, your hair does not need to be 90% dry! That too is ridiculous
@@greyscale7182 there are not, genius. The speed of low and high have nothing to do with the heat. Both low and high are HOT. Go try to be smart somewhere else.
I’m going to jump in here as a haircare junkie. You start by dabbing hair with towel, then you add blowdry cream, brush through with wet brush to evenly spread out cream, then… Yes you have to rough dry your hair first with a normal hairdryer until you see a little frizz. Then you use this revlon brush, it’s created to be a hair styler not an actual hair dryer 😊
@@vicavakin3 yes! Works great. I still use it a couple of times a week. Sometimes once a week. It's still in good condition. Although I did cut my hair right at my shoulders so it takes me 15-20 mins
Omg just found your review and it’s so helpful! I’ve been trying to decide between these 3 tools and was so confused. But your hair is similar to mine and you seem very genuine so again thank you for being honest :) this helped a lot!
I used this four times then got rid of it. I used heat protection and dried it when hair was wet and when hair was mostly dry. The first time, the results were amazing. It looked like a pro blowout. Second time I began to notice a change in my hair and by the third and fourth time, my hair was difficult to get smooth results and I had breakage. The dryer is very loud and is used right next to the ears so hearing damage is possible. The heat is intense, wicked hot and causes damage no matter what heat protection is used.
Almost identical to my experience. First time it looked amazing. After a few uses, my hair got super damaged. Even though I used heat protector, used it after my hair was mostly dry, on low heat setting etc etc. It’s very damaging.
I agree. I have lots of fine, long wavy hair, and I loved this tool at the beginning, but then I noticed it was too hot. My hair don’t dry quickly, so the low setting was too cold, the medium setting doesn’t have the enough air power and the high setting it’s just crazy hot. Ended up getting the Airwrap and sending the Revlon to my mum, since she has thick hair, so maybe it would work better on her.
I have the Revlon and I noticed breakage and lots of split ends even using it it 90% dry hair and actually touching the hair to avoid too much heat exposure... I'm thinking on getting the airwrap too. Do you know if it is safe to use it every other day or like twice a week? I think having something next to no heat damage or not damage in general would be the only thing that can justify the price at least for me. I'm interested on your opinion as user and not as influencer. Thank you!!
I thought I was crazy!!! When I started using mine, that’s when the breakage starting coming ! I never used heat protect and would straighten my hair everyday before this blow dryer ( yes I know very bad) and I never had this severe damage from that until this blow dryer. My baby hairs are very fragile and have a crispy texture to them now :(
@@cloudstrife8596 it has three settings - cool (basically cold air), low - which is quite hot and high which will burn your hands if you touch the barrel. Both the low and high settings were too much for my healthy thick hair - lots of hair fall and breakage. I splurged and bought the drybar brush to replace it. It works better with much less damage, my hair is much healthier. The brush bristles on the drybar brush are much better as well. I guess you get what you pay for.
@@pjj5824 i use the cold option. Its warm but not insufferebale Hot and it gives me Good results and besarse of the temperatura i hope not too much damage
I just realized that this is the reason my hair is getting so thin. It's not damaged but I couldn't understand why I was losing so much hair. It's been about a year as well and I just love this tool as it takes the frizz out and my hair looks very smooth, but now that I'm realizing the amount of hair I've lost well I put the Revlon tool in the trash. I hope my hair grows back!
fingers crossed! :) I stay away from this tool for now and I haven't trim my hair in 10 months - still looking pretty healthy, not seeing a lot of split ends - that's pretty amazing :)
I agree. I’ve been using my Revlon for quite a while and recently noticed all the hair loss I’ve had around my face. Now I need to find a good blow dryer.
I absolutely loved it, but after awhile my hair kept getting super curly, then even frizz! I have very thick hair, never put on high heat! My husband said it looked like Rosanna Rosannaodanna! I’m definitely gonna stay away from heat on my hair!
Thanks for the review... But I do have to ask a few questions. Did you only use the Revlon tool only on the high-heat option? I agree that its too hot. I use it 75% on the high-cool option and 25% on the low-heat option. It takes longer, but its worth it. I can't handle the high-heat option because it makes me break out in hot flashes. Lol.
You need to try the Remington hydraluxe volumasing brush. Its the same as the revlon styling brush but much better for your hair. It has a Hydracare Temperature setting wich limits the drying temperature to a lower heat for healthier styling😊😊❤️
I’ve not only noticed damage, I’m losing hair!!! I used a heat protector as well by the way AND I had thick hair but not now. 😢 The heat is unreal, you’ll burn your hand if you touch the barrel. So I have stopped using it. I was wondering about the dry bar brush - thank you for your honest review
I know people are giving you crap about how you use it but my best friend and I had the same experience. I have fine hair and she has thick. It fried both of our ends. Even with heat protectant. Even using it “right.” We both loved it at first and over time are very dissatisfied and see the damage.
I received mine a few weeks ago & like it so far... BUT I have thick hair and don’t use this for blow drying wet hair, I dry mine with my normal hair dryer until only just damp, then use this for styling 👍🏼
Hello! Thank you so mucho for the video:) You look beautiful and it is very useful. However I would like to ask if you could do the temperature test but on the “low” setting and tell me how hot it gets. I want to buy this because I can’t afford the the Drybar one.
I can tell you - the low setting is cool - so that won’t style your hair, the lower heat setting is not as hot as the high, but in my experience (I had very healthy thick hair) it has not only damaged it on the lower heat setting but it has also caused a lot of hair fall. 😢. I kept telling myself it wasn’t the revlon tool, but have stopped using it because what else could it be? The barrel is too hot to touch even on the lower heat setting. I don’t put it away before it’s cool because I feel it could actually start a fire. It’s that hot.
Maybe it’s because you have thin hair , and it can’t handle so much heat , even thick haired people have issues with heat . Maybe try using it only 2 times a month ,idk .
I only wash my hair once a week, i towel turban dry first then top off my roots with hairdryer normally. Will I still get damage if I use this on low for fine hair?
@@VickySong2 I totally picked that up at Costco a few days ago and tested it out just this morning. It gets pretty darned hot. On the low setting, it's hotter and faster than my Dyson AirWrap. I think the size of the brush definitely helps with the quicker drying. I'm going to be banging down Dyson's door to try to get a bigger brush. That said, I'm going to keep the Revlon as I purchased it for a backup in case the Dyson goes down (I cannot afford to have two obscenely expensive tools laying about in case one breaks). I worry about damage on my fine hair, hence the Dyson, but the Revlon is still a good tool. I used to have a similar tool back in the 1990s that I loved quite a bit. When it broke, I couldn't find another one and they couldn't be found for many years. At times I consider hoarding dryer brushes, just in case they go out of fashion again.
@@stephanies5591 thank you so much for sharing your feedback about the heat of the costco one!!! I was literally on my way to pick one up today, but i was super worried about the titanium coating causing higher heat than my hair could handle. I was planning to use it as a backup to my dyson too! Actually, i just got off a call with revlon to ask if they might be releasing a one step brush that has lower heat for fine hair and they said they weren't planning on it yet, but they are working on a smaller barrel size of the original one step! I'm debating waiting for that one to use as my dyson backup since it will be a ceramic coated brush.
@@VickySong2 No problem! I ended up ordering the Drybar version because I think it's going to be easier on the hair, though I don't believe the results are quite as nice. I like to heat style every now and again, but don't care for injured hair, so will pay more to avoid it.
I must be the only person who is dissatisfied with this tool. I used it for the first time yesterday, took me forever to get my hair semi-dry and it doesn't look like salon styled hair or even better than when I use my normal hair dryer. But may be just because I'm not patient with styling and my hair is thick.
Why don’t you get Japanese Straightening done? My curly friends have done it and their hair returns curly after a year- so its not permanent. Plus the fact that you wash it every 2 days it would help. You wont have to blow dry it straight its less heat damage.
Hi, I have had the recliner styling dryer brush for about one month and I find that it’s pulling my hair out. I am literally throwing it in the bin tonight. I don’t even want to sell it it’s so bad. The old fashioned hair dryer and large round boar bristle brush is way way better.
Good to know! I do find using hair dryer and separate brush a lot harder if I'm styling my own hair so I always go back to those styling tools like revlon, but I'm using a better one now - it doesnt pull my hair :)
Have you tried the L'ange Volume 2-in-1 Volumizing Brush Dryer? I currently use the Revlon but the L'ange is currently on sale, would love your feedback. Thanks

I saw one review where the reviewer started using her regular blow dryer first just to get her hair to the point where it wasn't suuuper damp then used the revlon after to just finish it out. She used heat protectant both for the hair dryer and the revlon and found that helped lots.
It messed up my hair. It breaks it and within minutes my hair look like I didn’t dry it. It changed quality of my hair. The normal $15 hair dryer did a far better job and prevents me from using straightening iron.
@@user-gz5mx2nd5p there could be a couple reasons for that? i just got mine and i haven’t tried it yet so i’ll have to see, but people have said that your hair needs to be 80% dried already, you need to section it off, use the lower heat, etc.
After less than a year, mine is TRASHED. Yours looks brand new or hardly used. The bristles on mine are completely broken off and bent, and there's not one bristle left on either of the sides. The front and back are all bent making it impossible to use correctly. When hair gets wrapped around it, it literally scorches it. It's WAY too hot and overall a piece of crap. It also burned the hair off around my hairline. Garbage!
Why not just use a lower heat setting on the revlon? Why spend more money for a similar product ? Also ...use a heat protection product before using any heat on your hair
Hava you tried to embrace your natural curly hair? If you did and found products that enhance your curls and lock them in, it would look not, well... Frizzy lol.
