It rides easily & well without assist, though the 1/11 gearing is short for steeper hills. From memory, this ride was ~10 kms road & 70kms in bush without assist, plus 80 or so having a blast going home, including throwing in extra 15km loop. My only suggestion is, do the no motor part first, because I have had a blast using assist & found ride in bush got longer & longer requiring some battery conservation over 25kms for known hills on way home, thus tired legs were put to work & were not happy: learnt my lesson! Cheers Kim
Bike rode well on the various surfaces, with biggest surprise how it handled the soft damp sand without the use of power assist, though it did feel the sand resistance. Gear use is 1 or 2 less than with power, mainly 2,3 & 4 unless on firm surface. As for drag, none obvious... It was fun & 1950 calories worth of riding. Cheers Kim
Not sure on how that could be done while holding onto the fragments of privacy associated with this forum. Plus much of the to & fro in comments are a good source of info to others... Cheers Kim
Hi Kim. May I ask what GPS you are using? I'm new to this bike and am wondering if the Giant RideControl phone app is an alternative to the Garmin GPS?
Original gps when bike was bought did not pull any data, so got a 'garmin edge 1030 plus'. Remember, sensor EW-EN100 will give you more data on gps screen, such as rear gear position... Have not tried ride control app during ride, so unable to help on that. Cheers Kim
