Have you thought about those "easy-close" cupboard doors that you just push anywhere on the door and it opens by hydraulics, then Lucy doesn't have to find a handle?!
You can't "cure" blindness, like with Lucy's situation, I'm only assuming, is where the cells behind the eyes never properly developed, rendering the eyes usless. While that can't be treated because of the overall failure in the eyes, more common versions of blindness are known as cataracts, clouding in what's supposed to be a clear lense in our eyes, that type can be treated, but at the same time, majority of them can wear glasses even if they're super thick lenses, it's just cloudy vision to a varying degree. That's the best way I can put it😓
There are many different causes of vision loss. Most can not be corrected by any type of procedure. To be honest, it gets very frustrating for us when people constantly ask why we don’t just get surgery, transplants, wear better glasses etc. it would be nice but it just doesn’t work that way.
@@xaviersaenz1375 cataracts are fairly common, but there are many other causes of vision loss that can have a variety of effects on people. Many people who are classified as blind can have eyes that appear perfectly normal, and only about 10% of people who are classified as blind are 100% totally blind. The rest of us have varying degrees of usable vision. In Lucy‘s case, she had a rare condition that caused her retinas to detach when she was in her teens. In my specific case, I have a genetic defect in my optic nerve. I am one of those people who doesn’t “look blind“ and I do still have some usable vision so I can read large print, but I am legally blind.
