The big criticism I have is that I think fleshing out less notable villians like Grave Clobber, Blaster-Tron and Hood Sickle in Imaginators was a really good and fun idea, while the new roster you proposed just the Doom Raiders + Tae Qwon Crow. That's not something inherently bad, but I prefered the new movesets on villians that were less notable and so would appreciate the upgrade into full on Skylanders more. Plus some of the choices are a little goofy, like I can't see Dreamcatcher as a Ninja or Nightshade as a Magic element. Otherwise though I think the new roster is pretty cool and the old roster was pretty chock full of goofy decisions as well (see Chompy Mage with a Bazooka and Blaster-Tron with a Sword) so if anything I'd say it's pretty fitting for the series.
Yeah when theres limited slots unfortunately some people got to be cut, I think it was cool how they expanded upon some of other villains in Imaginators but I personally prefer the mainstay doom raiders overall.

What would’ve been cool is that if Mesmerelda was to be the Magic Sensei becoming a Magic Brawler instead of Nightshade, her whole motif is HANDS! 🙌 I do like Painyatta a whole lot more tho
I can see the unincluded villains intro lines being very hilarious. Nightshade: “Like a thief in the night!” Pepper Jack: “Service with a smile! Yahoo!!!” Gulper: “Gulper is hungry!!!” Dreamcatcher: “Rock-a-bye bad guys!” Luminous: “Time to show you the light”
I like some of these changes, but grave clobber is still my favorite to plays as no matter what element, Also his BIO from trap team explains why he’s a water element.
Yeah, he’s not that bad, his move set is powerful and fun, I love the figure, and im just happy he got a figure in general! Better then say basic old chompy.
@@SkyworldStream in short, he was the king of the golden desert, but at the time it wasn't a desert, it was a lush forest with giant bodies of water, his brothers got jealous of him and drowned him, then his brothers did a horrible job running the kingdom and the land it was on, turning it into the golden desert we see present in trap team.
Honestly this feels like replacing certain villains for all the Doom Raiders. if it was me I wouldn’t remove anyone and just make a villains pack 2 for the missing doom raiders and other note worthy villains.
I like that there's some less iconic picks in the official list, it makes it feel more organic, but my primary goal is to make everyone have a realistic reason to turn good, or at least spite Kaos &or the Doom Raiders Air Swashbuckler: Bad Juju Life Brawler: Brock (As much as I love Chompy Mage, he has 0 reason to be a good guy) Undead Sentinel: Hood Sickle Earth Bazooker: Tussle Sprout (I don't have a good reason, I just think it would be funny to see the little plant guy miraculously holding a stinger missile) Fire Quickshot: Smoke Screen (He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, now he has even more guns) Water Knight: Gulper (Tired of the disrespect from the other Doom Raiders, he finally snaps & sets of on a journey to find himself. Eventually he discovers that soda tastes even better when shared with friends.) Magic Smasher: Pain-Yatta Tech Ninja: Mad Lobs Light Sorcerer: Luminous Dark Bowslinger: Mesmerelda (If there's a character to retro-actively be Dark, it's Hektore, but if there's a second, the lady with petrified darkness finger nails isn't a bad choice.)
I actually quite like the Imaginators villain roster, other than chompy mages bazooka I liked all of the changes that were made officially. I liked their use of some doom raiders and some more background villains. This is an interesting take on the concept though. While I don’t agree with all of the list (the non doom raider villain slander brings me great pain lmao) I do think that these are all fairly neat ideas and I would’ve loved to see them fully executed. I wonder what would’ve been done had they not been restricted by battle class. Very interesting video, good job. I honestly dont think what they did was particularly flawed, I just think it could've been handled better to not have element and weapon inconsistencies as much. Also, cutting Pepperjack was criminal. Also like, He's a robot.
@@SkyworldStream the elements were definitely a little reachy but considering the actual explanations they gave I don’t really think it was all that bad. The weapons mostly worked. Mostly. And “biology” (though a loose term considering he’s a robot lmao) doesn’t always match alignment. Mags has been stated to be an undead entity but is very clearly more aligned to tech.
I kinda like the rocket for chompy mage. If he had the staff, what would he do? That extremely slow chompy spawn move? I also like how he just throws away the staff when you place him on. Imagine being someone that ordered the bundle for original chompy mage, placing him on the portal while thinking of what his move set might be, and just seeing him chuck his staff and pulling out a chompy rocket launcher!
I think you're missing the fact that pretty many of these villains were also chosen because they're more liked and have designs that'd sell good as figures. Yeah, Grave Clobber being a water element moght be weird, but it's just one of the best picks for a figure and character in the game, like, who in the damn hell would like to buy a floating head

I do think you could change nightshade back to dark,but grant him swashbuckler,i can see him using eitheir swords or daggers even,and he could mix his invisibility skill with his pickpocket Then change chef pepperjack to brawler,could use his oven mints as boxing gloves And then for magic keep painyatta but grant him bazooker That way i think atleast we have a fair variety so they dont be same as others sensei,and every villain stay on their own element
sooo the 9 Doom Raiders and the one people thought was a Doom Raider while I agree that that is the smart way to go, it does overshadow the little guys also regarding Chompy Mage, yes his bazooka is dumb but I do find it funny, for how stupid it is (also in his Sensei Shrine cutscene, I giggle at the Chompies biting that orb)

I don't fully agree for a couple reasons 1# Golden Queen just overlaps with Barbella for being an earth sentinel 2# I like Grave Clobber, Blaster Tron and PAIN-YATTA
Wet Grave Clobber was odd, but it's kind of a play on the big "splash", and I found his wrestling move design to be really fun. If there was anyone I missed seeing, it was definitely Luminous. I really liked playing him in Trap Team, buddy had a cool story, and it's unfortunate that we didn't see him return.
I feel like one of the biggest issues with the villains chosen for the Imaginators roster was that they only chose villains from Trap Team. Like, throw Mesmeralda a bone already
I assume they did that because they trap team villains all had playable movesets to go off of already. Mesmerelda would be cool though, she was actually added in @Cloud_Breaker Version.
I only defend bazooker chompy mage cuz its fucking hilarious seeing a old man shoot visious lil gremlins out of a rocket luancher yes it would be intresting to see him as a mage like he should be but these games were never abiut being serious it was jus dumb fun
personally i think they also should've made it so the villains acually get the "evolved" colors too after using them by the shrine i got all imaginators and villains and i woul've love to see them change color after the sky-chi shrine and even could add a customize button for them so if u do not like the "evoved form u could set it standard again

Ok yeah jk I havent interacted with skylanders as a franchise since I played trap team in 2014/5 and had Lumiose/Luminous/Bald Light Guy on my birthday cake. This was very fun to see. Not saying the roster is perfect (almost all of them are doom raiders, dreamcatcher is a ninja (whatever that means) and Chill Bill isnt here) but its fun to see this franchise still exists and people still talk about it. Tae Kwon Crow is by far the only acceptable dark element villain who was in the dark element. Low bar and minimal options but he's pretty good. I liked Blaster tron but Luminous is a good choice. He's just o'erall good.
The main problem is that the figures can’t just be a blob because 1 skylander was already scrapped for that reason and dream catcher and the gulper don’t have a lot of details
Personally, I do think making the Doom Raiders all the senseis makes sense. Guys like Blaster-Tron and Grave Clobber are just generics that you can capture, while these other ones are big name villains. A good compromise would have been fleshing out the Doom Raiders, and making it so you can still use the Trap Crystals for any other villains, while using a Crystal with one of the Doom Raiders would power up that respective raider while in use. That way you don't kill the gimmick and get use out of keeping the Doom Raiders in the crystals.
I like this video a lot, it's a great concept and I agree with a lot of the choices. I personally would've added more of the underrated characters, but this is still a great list. You've 1000% inspired me to do something like this when I get the time to. Keep up the great work! ❤
I agree with you for the most part but on some points I have to disagree. First off my biggest gripe with the Sensei roster was having two characters, of the same element with the same battle class, specifically Grave Clobber and King Pen both being Water Brawlers. It feels redundant to me no matter how unique the characters or their kits. Adding Pepper Jack as a Bazooker alongside Flare Wolf presents the same problem, unless you want to replace Flare Wolf wirh say a new Light Element character. In retrospect turning Wolfgang into a Bowslinger because his harp has strings, much like an archer's bow also feels like low hanging fruit, making him a Smasher might have been an interesting change. I'd kill to swing his harp around like an Axe as him as well as on an Imaginator, besides who doesn't want to play a character who weaponizes music!? On a similar note to Pepper Jack turning Golden Queen into a Sentinel defeats the purpose of Barbella(one of my favorites) as one such class. Additionally I adored(and still adore) Dreamcatcher's personality and dialogue as she struck me, as a fun deconstruction of the Valley Girl stereotype which is usual depicted as dumb, unaware, and self-entitled, where as Dreamcatcher was smart, cunning, and an excellent judge of character on top of being unpredictable. Bit your choice of Battle Class for her is spot on otherwise. P.S.- What kind of weapon would taking Nightshade to a Sensei Shrine provide Imaginators with? Spiked knuckles? Push daggers?
@@SkyworldStream Well iirc Air Strike unlocked an Avian-themed pair of bladed knuckles, Grave Clobber got us his stone knuckles, and Crash got us knuckle-dusters decorated with his face.

Nah removing pain yatta is criminal and now hoodsicle congrats on removing the two funniest villians and hoodsicles pure coolness a literal hooded grim reaper vs a martial art bird ones cooler then the other and spoiler alert its not martial bird and the floating head is useless too many doomraiders they get stale too quick
I would've liked to see 2 villains come back from each element to make 4 from each element and 3 for light and dark. (5 for life and tech cause cause of crash and cortex) Earth- golden queen and chomp chest Air- dream catcher and bad juju Fire- chef pepper jack and Tae Kwon crow Life- choppy mage and broccoli guy Tech- Dr krankcase and threat pack Undead- Wolfgang and maskermind Water- gulper and grave clobber Magic- pain yatta and mesmerelda (ik she isn't trap team but is still a villain) Dark- nightshade and hood sickle Light- luminous and blastertron Kaos I think that would make it so that all of the villains that people wanted and that probably should have been in the game get in as well as some other that could be expanded upon and given the spotlight that they didn't get in other games.
Easier solution- Switch Chompy Mage’s and Blaster Tron’s classes Blaster Tron gets the gun from Trap Team evolved into a full moveset, while Chompy Mage uses the staff like a Melee weapon, essentially expanding on the Chomp Whomping move, but with the same “Knight with an Alternate Form” concept you proposed for Gulper(Maybe Chompies could be summoned automatically for every time your swings Hit something, and the third move could be a rework of “Talk to the Hand”, where it basically tells your already summoned Chompies where to attack) I don’t mind the element swapping, but at least Tae Kwon Crow and Hood Sickle’s new classes actually Made Sense, and Wolfgang made the Bowslinger work Edit- Wild Storm exists. Boom, an excuse to include Jumbo Chompy with the new Knight Class Chompy Mage
Hot take: I don’t actually mind that old chompy mage guy carrying a bigass bazooka! Its that sorta “lets do something stupid and fun” mentality that faded (one of the few times it feels like there were ANY passion in the game) ahem… BUT WHAT I DO FIND STRANGE…. WHY IN THE ANCIENTS DID WE GET HIS **CHRISTMAS** VARIANT IN RED WHEN THE CHRISTMAS SONG FROM GIANTS STATES HE WEARS GREEN BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY ALREADY, IM STILL PISSED ABOUT THAT FUCK
I wouldn't mind so much if the execution of the bazooka wasn't bad too. Also ig chompy mage is playing both sides with the Red gang and the Green gang.

Spyro should have been given a Supercharger or Sensei upgrade. His bio states that he is a master of all of the elements, but prefers fire when his gameplay is just his moveset from the PS1 trilogy. Imagine Spyro’s Sensei ability being an Aether fury from Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon or one of his elemental furies from A New Beginning and Eternal Night if he was given a moveset overall to include his abilities from The Legend of Spyro trilogy.
Biggest problem other than just the uncreative doom raider plug-ins is that there’s two bazooka fire senseis which wouldn’t be inherently a problem (example being grave clobber and king pen) but there’s other elemental brawlers while bazooka gets two reps and they’re both fire

Here’s my ideas: Undead - Chompy Mage. It could just be Chompy Mage but with bone chompys. Light - Hood Sickle. He’s ascended. Life - Pain Yatta. He could use vegetables instead of candy to attack. He could also talk like a hippie. Dark - Luminous. He overcame his fear of the dark. Fire - Golden Queen. She wears oven mitts to prevent herself from turning stuff into gold, and she uses fire to make gold stuff in a more authentic way. Magic - Mab Lob. Hugo’s a scrapped magic mabu skylander, so Mab Lob can fill in that role for him. Air - Gulper. Due to some mutated soda, he’ll have dragon wings and the cry of a bald eagle. Tech - Rage Mage. He could quit being a wizard due to himself randomly becoming an engineering prodigy. He should also have a British accent. Earth - Kaos. Kaos can make a clone of himself that’s extremely down to earth. He should also be extra muscular. Water - Dreamcatcher. She could use her own saliva as an attack as a way of asserting her degeneracy. Kaos - Tussle Sprout. He can reveal that he’s been secretly watching Kaos sleep at night, which could eventually lead to him stealing Kaos’s forehead symbol.
My apologies if it seems like I'm spamming, but I'm only typing this because presumably no one else has told you. Chef Pepper Jack was cut because he was, "too bulky". In other words, he wouldn't fit in the box.
Ideally, I would've liked to see an Imaginators DLC that simply added one or two additional Senseis, a few extra levels, plus a shit load of new Imaginator parts. That way we wouldn't have to cut anyone from the roster and it would give Imaginators the added content and longevity it deserves. Hell I would love to see characters like Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy get revamped into Senseis - I had an idea of a new class for Spyro called "Beast Class" that would allow us to make quadrupedal Imaginators. Some ideas for villain Senseis would obviously be the rest of the Doomlanders in their respective elements; Gulper (Water Knight), Pepper Jack (Fire Quickshot to separate him from Flare Wolf), Dreamcatcher (Air Ninja ), Luminous (Light Bowslinger), and Night Shade (Magic or Dark Swashbuckler) The remaining Villains would be Mesmerelda (Magic or Dark Sorcerer), Moneybone (Undead Bazooka), Cuckoo Clocker (Life Smasher), Little Pterashark (Earth Beast), and Drill-Mex (Tech Brawler: A sort of hybrid amalgamation of Drill-X, Trolling Thunder, and Bruiser Cruiser)
There actually was a planned "Imaginators Year 2" which would include new levels, Skylanders, and creation parts, obviously though it was scrapped due to Base Imaginators's poor financial performance.
i think water should’ve been cross crow, air as cap’n cluck, magic as mesmerelda and light as blastertron. Although i haven’t got a clue what battle class i would give them, except cross crow as a bowslinger, so good job with your choices
