4 years later, his investments are paying off. He arguably set the stage for the explosion in popularity (at least in the US) that chess has experienced since 2020

Yay REX!!!! Great man. We need this in our culture...especially for our kids. Our kids needs to be involved in this real stimulating and learned game than watching Kardashians or listen to the Harkles complain about whatever.

It would be great to help chess in the USA, but Magnus Carlsen is a force of nature who has passed the records of Kasparov and soon may surpass even Bobby Fischer. He is a World Champion whom is winning multiple tournaments per year also.

He already surpass Bobby Fisher but the thing Bobby Fisher is still the GOAT of chess is that his brain is ahead in his time,think of it,in 1970,he had 2700 rating and its ahead on his time,so if he is born in this era,he have 3000 rating.

Magnus will never surpass Fischer in terms of dominance. Fischer swept his peers like Taimanov and Larsen leading up tp the world championship match. He then obliterated Petrosian to complete a 20 game winning streak and eventually make quick work out of Spassky. Magnus will never achieve that kind of dominance in chess.

@@MrSupernova111 Carlsen is making a lot more money than Bobby Fischer ever got. Fischer did pioneer a lot of things for professional chess players and paved the way for players to make a career out of playing chess, but he never made the big money himself. Magnus or any super GM can not be compared to Fischer, or vise versa. It's two totally different eras .

This was a well narrated segment but this lady is very condescending. She interrupts a lot and talks down to everyone even though her own existence is insignificant to the world especially when compared to Sinquefield.

Seems like a good guy, except for his investment fund (in which he's the key shareholder) are the largest shareholder of Shell Oil company - a company that made billions from polluting the air we breathe. (...brace for angry replies)

He has also spent the last 15 years using his money to make himself a virtual legislator in Missouri and Kansas. If you think money is the same as free speech, you are delusional. Buying public policy is anti- democratic. This guy is an oligarch, who has done some great things in his hometown, but an oligarch nonetheless.
