Yes it’s amazing he’s doing a much better job as a heel than his father, the only time Rey was a heel was in WCW and well he failed to get much heat he was still loved as a face
Some people just work better as heel or face. Dom turning on his dad (one of the most beloved faces of all time) and joining a heel group was such a heat magnet. He’ll able to ride that momentum for a long time. I’m interested to see if he can make a transition back to face and have as good of a positive reaction
@@akeemsmith3096that’s how it always works, if someone is that good at making people hate them eventually the crowd starts to respect how good they are at their craft and when that happens the fans start cheering even if it’s a heel. MJF is the best example of that recently and my guess is once Dom starts winning titles(not world titles that’ll take a few years lol) it’ll happen to him to
Dominik should have his own finisher. Its nice to see him using 619 aka Tiger Feint Kick as his signature move, but he needs his own finisher move to establish his persona in the ring.
No he doesnt. That’s like telling all the Samoans don’t use the Samoan drop or uranage, or Bron not to use the Frankensteiner, or any of the Guerrero’s not to use the Camel Clutch or the 20 other moves Gory Guerrero created. Point I’m making is family moves should stay in the family. If Dom has to stop everyone who comes from a wrestling family would have to stop too, otherwise you’d be a hypocrite
@@antione I must have missed the part where he said to not use those moves at all. He’s simply saying add his own finisher. Undertaker has like 4 different finishers. Most wrestlers have several signature moves of their own.
It’s not piped in for TV. Go to any live show and he gets the loudest boos you’ll hear from anyone in wrestling right now, the only person who may have gotten louder boos was MJF before the fans decided he’s a baby face now whether he wants to be or not lol
Can confirm it's not fake sound added for TV. I went to a Smackdown show, and it was damn near impossible to hear him talk because of bow loud the boos were.
@dereknez965 I just hope that they do it the way they did for Sami. They're similar talents, undersized but great personality and charisma and when they're fighting from underneath as babyfaces, the fans really buy it and get behind them. They both play chicken shit heels perfectly too. The payoff for Dom could be as big as challenging for a world title, his heat is powerful enough to push him to that height as a face in my opinion.
I hated Dom so much at first and then I realized how brilliant he is for making me hate him so easily! I think he has a huge future and I will now forever be a fan of Dominic Mysterio!
We were waiting for that turn. We knew it was coming and it has been crazy good. The Judgment Day was the perfect fit for him, especially Rhea, she got him into that position early and they have run with it.
I'm impressed with Dominik's work as a heel but I wished he changed his signature move instead of using the 619 to Dropping the Dime (Frog splash). I'd like to see Dirty Dom use a top rope double stomp (Finn Balor's move) after using the 619.
@@TheFlyingGreenMonkey yeah he kinda started doing that less once he became a heel, since it was just meant to be a legacy move and now he's betrayed his roots so it made sense to stop, along with the tallness making it hard
dom is fkn good man, true wrestling fans LOVE a good heel, and more than that, they love to hate a good heel, and dom is a heat magnet right now in the best possible way, he’s been my favourite wrestler in 2023 and 2024, so freaking good
@@tompatchak8706 both of them were go away heat, Dom is something else. I know I didn't watch when Vicki was around, but I've seen those moments. That booing was insane. Dom is getting it too, but I think he is getting more respect from the fans, than Xpac and Vickie did.
Rey will always be a bigger name and a better wrestler in the ring than Dom. But what Dom has done and is doing as a heel, even if it's not in the ring, is fantastic. What he lacks in terms of wrestling ability he makes up for in storytelling. Really makes you miss Rhea and their storyline that much more.
oh right, and of course now that wwe is getting popular again and Dom is still doing weekly appearances, maybe he can rise to be almost as famous at some point. and as Rey noted, his popularity has been incredibly fast so he got a better start in that.
He's still only 27 so who knows? He may very well be more successful than Rey one day. Doesn't seem like it now but I can remember when both Randy Orton and later on Cody Rhodes made their debuts. Randy especially was just a very mid kind of guy and a borderline jobber at times prior to joining evolution. He was just Bob Orton's son. Dominik has a lot to work on but he gets better every month imo. He's ridden that initial wave of being a heel into something stronger and doesn't look out of place on his own now. And my god he is so easy to hate lol. His voice, the way he carries himself, how great and successful he acts even though he's just a lucky boy. It's great! Never thought I'd have said that 2 years ago lol.
I still remember the Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerrero "Custody of Dominic Ladder Match" as a kid, so seeing that little kid shining bright in the same profession now is absolutely wild. Happy for Rey and Dom ❤
He was trained by his dad, but he really got that Uncle Eddie Guerrero charisma about him. He even had the Eddie look now. If he continues to work on his in ring skill and learning the business, I can see becoming as big if not bigger than Rey and Eddie.
Fucking love Rey. Such a talented bloke and super humble. Saw him wrestle in the uk a couple years ago and he was the standout performer in real life. He just oozes class
Dom is going to go extremely far and it’s so crazy how on the nose Rey is with his vision, because all things considered dom is really the polar opposite of his dad, he’s a great heel whereas Rey has always been a fan favorite, he’s taller, his in ring style is different, and all those things will take him farther because he’s already made the separation from his legacy and that’s something only the best 2nd gens are able to do
The way they have made Dom a superstar through the on screen Heel against his dad just shows the respect Mysterio has for the company and how much the company respects Mysterio ❤
As a father, you can’t be more proud of Dom if you’re Rey. To come into the business and take it by storm is incredible. Not only keeping the mysterio name alive in wrestling but carving his own unique path in the business
The decision to make some wrestlers heels proved gold manny times. Dirty Dom is amazing and funny. Eddie is smiling up there being proud of his son and the good job that the replacement dad did.
Dom is so fucking good. He has this old school wrestling feel to his work too. He is a storyteller and the amount of heat he has been able to get is nuts.
Don may have been the most hated for that season. Months went by with him being booed uncontrollably. Most hilarious thing ever was him having Mami tell us to let him talk.
At this point I’m fully convinced that if they handle him correctly wwe can make dom one of if not the greatest heel of all time. Dude has GENERATIONAL heat in every stadium every time he tried to cut any promo. It’s fucking gold in the palm of their hands.
Very true. But his dad has been doing this for such a long time and Dom came into WWE without really doing this anywhere else. He still has a ways to go to get to that level, but the progress he has made so far is pretty impressive. If he has the same longevity as his dad, he may well one day be an extremely talented in ring worker.
Now that's a Dad that is proud of his son And also props to Dom, he made his own way and stepped out of the shadow of his dad, the heat he gets is insane, even though he still needs to learn how to still cut the promo while the boos rain in
Dom is special. I used to think “he’ll be good for being Rey Mysterio’s kid” but no Dom is just amazing in general. His character work is sensational. He just gets it psychologically and how create a presence.
I don't think there will ever be another Rey Mysterio Jr just because Rey is once in a lifetime. Dominik however, has exceeded all expectations I ever saw for him. Hes on track to be one of the best heels of his generation which is crazy.
Dom has done such a good job on his heel run, it’s insane how fast he caught fire! I hope in the next few years he’s elevated and succeeds in the main event picture
Little did we know, Rey predicted this exactly right because well. it’s simple, he was a a great father after wrestling to Dominick Mysterio, now a famous face of his own in the WWE. well done Unc! you raised our generation right 🫡 👑
Hey Rey, don’t worry that kid will be fine. He grew up in and around the business. He knows exactly what to do when to do it and how to do it and a few years I can see him with solo belts and maybe even a world title run for a little while, maybe as a transitional champion or like the whiny heel, begging for mercy, but a low blow at the end. The ark to come back to where people won’t buy him is it a long road but I can see that happening as well. He’s got so much going on for him. He’s got some really good teachers with the guys in the judgment day and he’s gotten better over the last couple years with wrestling everybody that they can throw at him. I’m excited to see what’s coming next People love to boo him. He’s the best taboo.
