@@Psymon718 Breaking The Streak wasn't a bad idea. Brock doing it was. He didn't need it. They should have had a younger talent do it, someone whose career would have been expanded drastically by having that as an accolade. Like how Taker letting Maven eliminate him from a Rumble set Maven for a while.

In Eddie Guerrero's book, he talks about that backflip DDT. He said they never practiced it before, and they tried for weeks afterward to recreate it in practice rings, in house shows, etc, and they were never really able to do it again. It really was a magical match. If I am showing someone who isn't into wrestling a wrestling match, thats one of my go-tos.

I started watching WCW cuz of the Outsiders storyline, but the Cruiserweight division made me addicted to the mid and lower card matches. And the smaller ring size (versus WWF) and amazing ring canvas sound were perfect for cruiserweight matches.

Rey has been in this game a long time. That PPV, I was 15 years old. Today, Rey is damn near still at the top of his game, and I have a 13 year old son. Crazy.

I'm just thankful that when he debut for WWE they never asked him to ditch the mask. It was like a whole new Rey was shown to everyone who never saw him in WCW and he never was asked to have a "give up your mask" match. Such respect for the man and what Lucha means to those who know it's roots.

Haven't watched wrestling since like '06-'07, but Rey had always been one of my favorites, what a legend! Also, RIP Eddie, another legend, one which we lost too soon.

I remember, during the commentary of this match on the Eddie Guerrero DVD, Rey said that he had beef with BIschoff cause Eric originally wanted Rey Rey to lose the match and lose the mask. BTW, I might be the only one who would like to see if a maskless Rey Mysterio would do in WWE.

I thought wwe when dom and rey fued was hot theywas going to do a mask vs hair match. Dom would have a lot of heat. Maybe to much for removing reys mask.

I respect Eric for a lot of what he did. But the fact Eric was so obsessed with taking masks of the luchadors he had shows he did not understand the Lucha libre and why the masks mean so much. He saw it as a way to get some cheap drama that did not do anything to build the wrestlers up, I think most of the wrestlers he demasked did worse after the masks came off. What he did was shameful.

FYI- in eddies book lie, cheat and steal.. Eddie says that he went to Eric before their match started and said he isn’t walking out to the ring if they don’t change the booking… then goes on to explain the importance of the mask to all Mexican wrestlers

The next year he and Juventud Guerrera were unmasked. I think Juvi lost it to Jericho and I'm not sure I remember how Rey lost it. But I do know the last couple years of WCW Rey did not have a mask.

To me that was one of the best matches. In history, it’s funny that a match like that and today’s climate people would shit all over it, especially in AEW.
