Thanks a lot. All the info in the rF2 VR forum thread makes it rather hard to follow. I'll try this all out tomorrow. I was getting about 20fps with my new 3060Ti on my Rift S yesterday so something is not right. Hopefully this guide will help me sort it out. Or maybe I'm bottlenecks by single thread performance on my Ryzen 5 3600, as GPU and CPU were both at
Thx a lot for your comment, did you have OpenXR Tools installed ? Make sure "Use latest preview" is switched to on, custom render scale set to 100 and "Motion Reprojection" to disabled.
@jusposted is the rift s really better with the rtx 3060 ti ? I would like to replace my gtx 1070 with a rtx 3060 ti but I don't have the money to change the vr headset ! thank you !
very in depth vid. but why have u not actually listed what gpu u are using. you only state 3000 card. which as performance will be very different from a 3060 to a 3090 ? could you advise what card u used as i couldnt not hear it in ur commentary and no specs provided
Thx a lot for subscribing mate , you are very welcome ! 👍 I am using a Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC together with Intel I9 10900X on Gigabyte Aorus Master X299X and 32GB of Ram
Very handy - thank you! I've been using Tappi's Setting Widget for a while - really handy to quickly try out settings changes without getting too bogged down the player.JSON file, and also for just flipping between racing and replays, etc. Just wondering about the OpenXR Toolkit - could you elaborate at all on what installing/running this is doing within this configuration?
Is there any setting to eliminate / reduce lag from night races? I did a LFM endurance race at Daytona and I couldn’t do more than 2 laps because the frames dropped to something like 20 because of lights and other cars headlights. Only had 12 cars rendered. During day races I have over 90fps smooth with way more AI cars, but night is where it suffers.
Hello, thank you for the tutorial, i just have a little bug, when im on the car, i can't moove my head in front or in rear, rfactor dosent support this ?
thanks for the video, I check this now out with all this informations and compared to the old steamVR setup. the quality with openXR is badly, SteamVR looks sharper, better and clear. Performance seems to be not better, I have no fpsVR in openVR and no smoothing. Perhaps I do something wrong but I look at your setting in this video
Hi, tx for your comment mate ! You should take some tim to play a little bit around with the rf2 settings tool to fine tune for your headset. There's a lot of option to optimze sharpnes etc.. Happy Easter and keep on rascin' !
I've been testing the openXR with RF2. Sometimes reprojection works, but the game crash when i press esc. Sometimes reprojection do not work, there is no pattern! It's all random.
If you follow this video you will not be using OpenXR. It is missing the step to install OpenComposite OpenXR which directs OpenVR calls to OpenXR and bypasses SteamVR entirely.
Hello, I am wondering about reshade, are we just install it, and nothing more, no settings needed or preset for it? And also Open XR toolkit, no settings there? Just install it and open it?
It's not that difficult to get 90 fps with a good GPU when you only have 6 cars on track. Try it again with 40 cars on track at night in the rain (= online endurance sim racing) and see what happens 😄. Also, what about the OpenXR settings and/or SteamVR settings?
Does anyone have a good solution to find what buttons are already assigned in RFACTOR2, or a way to SEARCH for features when assigning buttons ? This and Automobilista must have a similar origin. No way to press a button on the myriad of JOY STICKS WHELS ETC to see where it is currently assigned - no way to search for any text on the assigning screen. I emailed them and they claimed these features "are not possible" ????
Hi and thx for your comment, at the moment no special rig, it's let's say in construction. At the moment just a G920 which will be replaced by a CSL DD very soon (waiting for delivery😬). HW Spec is Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC, Intel I9 10900X on Aorus Master X299X with 32GB 3600MHz
I am sure this good info. But could we start at the beginning. Like how to get rf2 to run in VR I have had this for 4 months and have never got to play it. Not a single video on how to make it run has worked. Good think I didn't buy any of the DLC's
When you click on Play in Steam, you have to choose the "Graphics Configuration" option, not the Play RF2 option. That'll bring up a different settings menu where there's a VR option. Click either HMD + Mirror or HMD only and that'll get your headset working.
Sorry my problem was not your fault. But your viewers need to be warned to do backups if they want to try the process lasso thing. I did it then I rebooted to be sure the changes would stick. My system would not even go to bios. It was totally dead. I had the re-flash bios to even get it to respond. Maybe it was just chance but I would not try it would out a complete backup.
