How to setup Assetto Corsa with HP Reverb G2 to get 90fps and crystal clear picture - JUST 2 LAPS VR

I feel very honored to get a reaction from you, the developer of the filter 👍 I have to say that this is indeed the best filter I have ever used in AC regarding optics and performance. I was trying a lot of filters and really not any could satisfy my needs until I discovered yours. Thanks a lot for the hint with the reflections, I'll try that out for sure. At the moment I have no problems getting 90 fps when driving without simultaneously recording and reducing the mirror screen to minimum resolution. When recording I am losing about 10 to 25fps depending on track and amount of cars, so I am happy for any single fps I can gain without losing too much picture quality. @@just2laps-finestsimracingv70 what can cause the fps to drop back to 45 fps? I did not make any changes and check through with your video. The settings are the same.

change your max frames to something like 92 instead of 90... That will allow the headset a liitle more room to hold that constant 90

Hi and thanks four your comment mate ! The setting of the resultion affects the size of the mirror display on screen as well as the appearance of the "starting screen" and the icons in game e.g. seating position. It really makes a difference if you are going to use a mirror screen with 640x480 or 4k resolution. The rendering work for the GPU is the same as this is depending on the VR settings but it needs some video memory and performance too for doing the display of the mirror. Impact is not too big but from my expecience it is a difference of about 5 to 8 fps between lowest setting and 4k. And sometimes every single fps makes a difference between smooth movement and stuttering. But I agree that the big icons in the UI are not so comfortable to handle, but I get used to it by time. Hi, from the system specs it should run without any problems, so I assume that something is wrong in your config. Maybe some hints that can help. I graphics settings please ensure that "hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling" is set to off. Sound a little bit paradox but this is contra productive for 30xx cards and will help only older cards. Game mode I have set to off. In the WMR please ensure that dispplay mirroring is switched off. Please check the properties of the "acs.exe" file from AC and check "Disable Full Screen optimization" as well as "High DPI scaling override" by application. For detailed settings in AC CM and CSP I'll put you the links of my config here (I am using now the 0.1.79-preview5 version of CSP as well as the latest config of CM) : CM settings : acstuff.ru/s/ThUAd7 CSP settings : acstuff.ru/s/RC8WyK additionally I am using the C13cameraobscura PP filter with the latest version of Pure. CM, CSP and Pure are the paid full versions from Patreon . My I9 I have overclocked a little bit to 4,5MHz all cores and the cache to 2.8GHz. My GPU is a little bit overclocked too with the AORUS Engine tool set to "curve". Hope this helps. NVIDIA Experience is NOT installed becuse it caused me problems all the time. If all that things do not help anyway it might be an option to completely remove the NVIDIA driver with the DDU tool and re-install the latest version. I had similar problems in the past and that helped a lot. If you have any more questions please let me know.

Hi, it needs CSP and SOL too, but it has no impact on performance. Without recording a video simulaneously , I can run AC in VR mode with everything set to max in graphics options including all addons like Grass FX etc. Only have lowered a few parameters like mirror screen resolution (minimum), smoke generation, shadows etc. and I am getting stable 90fps

Hi and thx for your question mate ! I am not really sure what your problem exactly is. At the moment I have no problems driving in VR. I am going to release a new video with VR content later today. Maybe you have a look and tell me if you can see something similiar to your problem in my video. By the way I am using another CSP version now as in the video here. I have upgraded to the newest patreon version of CSP 0.1.79-preview5 and pure 0.102 development preview (also on Patreon). This combination is nearly perfect now for VR from my point of view. PPFilter for driving in VR is C13CameraObscura

Thanks for your comment mate ! When not recording I usually reduce the window size to 640x480 at 24Hz in the Assetto Corsa Display settings, full screen disabled, this gives you the best performance. In the WMR window you can stop the preview for saving performance by clicking on the "II " button in the middle of the lower part of that window. Hope that helps ! Hello again. I didn't know that you could pause the video in the WMR :-). You always learn something new every day jejejeje. I have tried lowering the quality to 640x480 but the problem is that all the objects in the HUD change also their resolution so you see them very big now on the VR... :-( Some solution for that ? @@1971JESSA Hi, no. There is no solution so far. Handling is a little bit strange, but I learned to get used to it. You can also try some other resolutions like 800x600 or 1024x768 which does also not impact performance too much but gives you a better handling in VR.

Thanks for your comment mate 👍No not yet, I play ACC only sporadic and then in 2d. ACC support is not really good for VR, so therefore I do not spent any time at the moment for optimizing it. But still hoping for an update that brings better performance and quality to VR for ACC.

Hi, thx for your message. I have checked several filters and finally used the C13 camera obscure. But I think the usage of the filter is more a decision of personal taste and depending of the screen capabilities too, the C13 was giving me an advantage of about 5fps compared to others though.

Hi, I think it should work with your 3060ti. Assetto Corsa is, if configured well the most performant game to play in VR. Ok, I have RTX 3080 but it should also run with you 3060ti, maybe not with full options enabled but it looks pretty good even with some of the performance eating options reduced.

I use a RTX 3060 coupled with a Ryzen 5600x to run my reverb G2. With proper settings I can even get Shutoko revival to run mostly above 80fps. Otherwise, Motion vector does a surprisingly good job at smoothing things out without looking odd, as it cuts in half the rendered frame and fills in the gaps to give you 90hz. The main thing is to reduce rendering resolution to something closer to 2400 x 2400 instead of 3000 x 3000 (100% scaling in steam VR) which will greatly help framerate.

@@Zetta_OG I have installed the latest version 0.1.78-preview It's running without any issues. Untested does not mean that it's unstable. Only avoid to install a version that is signed as "buggy" like 0.1.72

Hi, usually I am resetting the view once when I have started AC (after entering the race , not while in menu) using the Steam VR reset funcion. Then it keeps tracking for the whole session. I made the experience that the tracking of the headset is very sensitive and sometimes reacts very strange when sunrays coming through the windows in sharp angles, so I always darken my room a little bit with shutters down when using the headset, this help a lot.

@@just2laps-finestsimracingv70 Thanks so much for your reply and helpful information. Unfortunately for me, I cannot get this headset to work properly in my system. The view needs resetting every few seconds even after implementing your recommendations on all games. More importantly, AC crashes like crazy with several faults from CSP to other never seen before faults, but games runs great in non VR mode. Your video helped a lot cause it proved that it is a most probable incompatibility issue as opposed to a setting issue (currently running an AMD system). With that, I think I’ll be returning the unit with hopes for better luck in future. Danke!

@@michaelhavlena923 Hi Michael, since you are using a AMD based system (probably a X570 based motherboard), and if you are using a G2 Version 1, get ahold of HP and tell them about your problems, they will more than likely offer to send you the new (version 2) cable free (you might have to return the old cable once you get the new one), it fixes the problems when using a AMD based system. I have a G2 V2 and have no issues at all, it works great and I am on a Aorus Elite Wifi (X570) motherboard with a Ryzen 5600x CPU, using the G2's included USB-A to USB-C adaptor plugged into a USB-3 port at the back of the motherboard. I did have issues when I had it plugged into a switchable USB-3 hub though, but it's been flawless with it plugged straight to the motherboard's USB-3 port. The V2 cable has a bigger box in cable and also has a very small power button, the V1 does not. Good luck.

I’m now wondering about the power button on the power supply box, don’t recall ever turning it on. Can you confirm the behavior of the unit when the power button is OFF, does it work at all? @@1971JESSA It's Anisotropic if you're wondering :) Using the Nvidia Control Panel, 3d parameters, in the "Per application" tab you select acs.exe and activate 16x anisotropic filtering there. Then in Content manager, settings, Assetto corsa tab, video, you'll see anisotropic filtering right under MSAA, switch it to off. Some free frames right there.

Hi, which version of CSP do you have and do you have the screen mirror in WMR disabled ? Maybe it helps if you upgrade to the newest CSP 0.1.79-preview5 which comes with massive VR performance improvements. I can get the 90fps in nearly any conditions with full options enabled including the new 3d clouds from Pure.

In case you or the other poster (with the 3090) still has this issue (or someone else comes across this), some AC Apps seem to tank performance in VR. I was frustrated as I was initially able to get 90 fps easily (with the settings in this video) and then, sometimes, I was stuck in the 60-75 FPS range and it was very "stuttery." In my case, it turned out that the app, Traces, was responsible. Whenever I have that enabled, VR FPS and performance are really bad. When disabled, I am able to get 90fps constantly. Oddly, I don't notice any issues with Traces and my triple screen setup which ends up being 10320 X 1440 (34" 21:9 center with (2) 27" Sides in portrait mode. This shouldn't be much different from VR.
