VP Harris is so clearly more capable that he can never agree to debate her; this would make trump appear to be exactly who he is and that would hurt him.
You know what's funny? I work in DC and for a while, up until around last week, I would often see these vans driving around. These vans had huge advertisements on them telling people to vote for RFK Jr., because he's the only one who can defeat Donald Trump. And now RFK Jr., is dropping out to endorse Trump.
Yes, RFK probably could have beaten Trump. But the establishment rigged the primaries like they always do, giving the middle finger to their own constituents. Can’t trust the voters, can we.
I am an admirer of both, especially when I learned of RFK's biography and how he grew as a senator. I intend to dance figuratively on Sirhan Bishara Sirhan's grave some day. He caused the decline in our presidents after 1968, giving us Nixon, Ford, Carter....and worse as the corporations took over.

Indie here, too, ever since the 1976 election (my first for POTUS). I've always followed JFK's advice to vote for what's best for the country. With that, only voted red once. Seems the Dems are what's good for the country.

I'm sure there are a few RFK Jr voters who were pretty surprised by it. But they were RFK Jr voters, so it's not like they were all that sharp or paid that much attention in the first place. They're the *only* group anywhere who could ever be surprised by this.
RFK Jr.'s supporters will go to Harris, not Trump. His thing was the "Kennedy" name and that resonates with liberal boomers and disenfranchised democrats. Neither will vote for Trump. And he was had only 1% in that latest polls; just a handful of votes anyway.
Because he doesn't actually have any real principles. And his VP pick, who financed this campaign herself, has let it be known that she supports 45. There was never any way his campaign was ever going to end any differently than this IMO.

Something happened to him in the 1990s. Mental illness? He was a former heroin addict. He lived through a lot of trauma as a kid. I respected him back in the day. It was a shock when he went off the deep end.
Kennedy's serious problems have never been a secret, so would blackmail even be effective? I think mental illness is more likely. Something broke in him. We may never know.
RFK Jr. is a stain to the Kennedy name. To give respect to and save his family name, and the legacy of his father (RFK) and his uncles (JFK and Ted Kennedy), he should consider changing his name or better still, admit himself as an inmate to a mental institution.

I think he only had the support he did because he had the support of anti-45 voters who weren't ever going to vote for Harris. He pretended to be anti--authoritarian, he loved woo, etc and that crowd eats all that nonsense up hand over first. Now, they'll either write in whoever the Libertarian candidate is, leave that spot on the ballot blank, or they'll just stay home. I really can't see this actually helping him too much.

His biggest block of support came from right wingers who were never going to vote for Harris or 45 regardless, so now most of them will likely either just stay home or leave that spot on the ballot blank. I don't really see this negatively impacting Harris/Walz too much. There was never any way RFK Jr was going to get even that mythical 5%, so this won't do anything more than stop most of his supporters from voting for President.

On the plus side, an election strategist says that this will help Harris. The "double haters" who did not want to vote for either Trump or Biden were going to vote for the only alternative they had: RFK. Now that RFK is dropping out they will vote for Harris. I don't see the double haters voting for Trump. Ever.

It's not going to change anything. In the end, Jill Stein, Cornell West, and RFK we're going to share the 3% of people who refuse to vote for Republicans or Democrats. Now the 3% will be divided between Stein and West. Any voter that votes for Trump was always going to vote for him.

RFK Jr may be worse than Trump, if that's possible. Trump took a lot of years to go from Democrat to Republican. But RFK Jr took a mere few weeks to do the exact same thing.
God bless Harris / Walz for turning RFK, Jr. down flat. He's not well. I don't know if it was drug use, the brain worm thing, or his disengagement from reality by becoming such an ardent environmentalist that he became a conspiracy theorist unable to accept facts, but he'd be an albatross around their neck. I'm absolutely LOVING Harris / Walz. They're ability to connect is outstanding. They are genuine people who understand average Americans, and I am all in Harris / Walz.
I kinda feel bad for RFK. He tried running as a democrat and the DNC blindsided and completely ignored him over like they did with Bernie. Then his stint as an independent with a terribly ran campaign and a VP with no recognizable political identity, then a weird turn to possibly endorse Trump. The notion that he would endorse Trump, someone who wants to gut the EPA, is a mind boggling move for an environmental lawyer.
