Another very useful lesson. Thanks, JR! I used to bowl fairly well, until I tore my Achilles tendon playing basketball in 1984. I was scared to death of sticking on the approach, and did not bowl for 32 years. Everything had changed. LT-48 and soakers were the popular balls; I had not bowled on a synthetic lane. I'm one of those with no clue, so I appreciate the info.

Why do longer pins hook more down lane. I was under the impression that the pin to pap had a parabolic relationship to differential. By this reasoning a 6 inch pin to pap should “hook the same” (or very similar) compared to a 1.5 inch pin to pap. But it seems I observe longer pins hooking later down the lane. Why do longer pins hook more down lane. Does pin to pap effect rg as well?

Another good video. It always surprises me that there are a lot of decent bowlers who have no clue at all about RG, Diff, Asymmetric cores vs Symmetric cores, layouts, and surface. If I mention something regarding these factors, they look at me like I'm some kind of alien, lol.

For what it's worth they likely understand the concepts inherently but don't know what they're called. They likely aren't picking a ball based on stats but other factors and then tuning it to fit their style via layout+cover.

I want to say that I used the storm 2ls (I am a no thumb bowler) and looked into different layouts for the 8 new bowling balls I got. I decided to combine some 2 layouts, for example, layout 1 and 3 a blend of benchmark and good for the burn, layout 5 and 6, just in between stronger than 5 but weaker than 6 for the heavy conditions.

What's up JR! Love your channel big fan. The tracks you mentioned go generally like this \ away from the fingers but what if it goes / near or through the fingers?

Man in my hay day it was an inch of finger or thumb weight and an inch of side weight! lol How times have changed. I miss my old Columbia 300 Vector Two

JR, I'm ready to set up another lesson. Should I call Classic? Or the pro shop?
