556 is the best choice especially if you do any game streaming

For me the price of the RG556 (around £140, but when on promo codes becomes £120 with free shipping) wins hands down when it has the OLED screen and (with the right tweaks and settings) plays most games on PS2, GameCube, Wii, PSP and even Vita when the emulator is mature enough... analogue triggers for things such as FLUDD in Sunshine (the sticks can now be fixed with a new Gamma patch), brilliant battery life, comfortable to hold... which when compared to the Pocket 4 Pro is around £80'ish more expensive, I just don't think it has enough to justify the price difference personally.

Sad to see the darn spring break! Same happened to me with my then 1 week old RP2S I then replaced both springs with PS4 DualShock trigger springs and have ben performing perfectly since. Best of luck!

anbernic build quality, ergonomics, oled and better battery life made the 556 an easy choice for a ps2/gamecube player at a cheaper price point.

Hey. Sorry for your trigger. Felt like telling you how it was for me when mine broke. Had the new backplate sent here to 🇧🇷 just the day after I contacted them via Discord, no questions asked but my address. It came packed with new screws and a screwdriver. There are four screws to work on. Then carefully pull out the old backplate, click the new one into place and screw it back. That's it. Took me like 30s to do it and it's like new again. Hope it goes the same for you! Cheers

So I will say, Retroid has stated that they've fixed the trigger issue on the new models of the 4 pro. Launching systems with build quality issues was really stupid though. They really need to do better with stress testing these things.

The RP4 Pro is the better of the two and recently I have discovered this even more against my RG556. Not sure why but it took almost 6 hours to charge with a charger I use to charge my phone that takes an hour. Also the firmware is super buggy and needs an update that it will probably never get. I noticed times where I turned on the performance mode and it randomly shut off or didn't write the settings to the system. There has also been times where the device just randomly restarts on me while playing games, next we have the terrible joysticks and buttons but I won't go there lol. Also that's not an issue with the RP4PRO in regards to Minecraft btw you need to change the Mode on your 4 Pro from Analog to Digital for the L2/R2 buttons.

That trigger problem isn't going away for Retroid is it. Was supposed to have been addressed months ago now but its still happening.

It ist fixed already. Only the First batches had this Problem. They use different triggers now for the later batches

@@Watamel0n idk but I've seen it still coming up on forums even recently which you would've thought it was all done with by now. I got a 556 which in reviews people commented that R2 & L2 were kinda stiff, I can feel what they mean but I was soon used to it and them being this was has caused me zero issues.

@@theminimalistgamer4201 They probably still have the early models. The rp4pro just launched a little bit over half a year ago and bad triggers, doesn`t mean they break in a couple of days. They can still break months or years later. For that purpose Retroid gave the early models a 2 year warranty on the triggers. If somehting happens, they send you a replacement with the new improved triggers immediately with no further questions asked. Iam myself very interested in the long term durability on these chinese handhelds and Iam rather concerned how they hold up after f.e. 2 years of gaming, but the triggers don`t concern me at all. Rather how does the battery hold up, etc. I heard from a couple of people how some anbernic (especially the RG35xx h, since I wanted to buy one and made my research) and RS36s handhelds fell appart after a couple of weeks and months of usage. Some had severe battery issues etc. and some other people were just stupid :D They used the trashy sd cards from china and thought the handheld was broken.

@@theminimalistgamer4201 Yeah, because these people still have the earlier models, like this guy on the youtube video. That`s why Retroid gave the earlier models a 2 year warranty on the triggers, because bad triggers doesn`t mean they brake after a couple of days, weeks or months. They send you the new improved triggers with no question asked, after the old ones brake.

Rg cube and rg556 are same in power but different in size Rp4pro is slightly abit more powerful but the other 2 will pretty much do well in emulation regarding the GameCube ps2
