Doesn't matter if there's no evidence, everyone knows Luke went to storms end and everyone knows Aemond was there as well (everyone in Storms End at least). They had an altercation, Baratheon stopped them and told Luke to go home, Luke didn't make it home. There really is only one conclusion that people will end up having no matter what story they put out.
This!! I really don’t get why so many reactors are confused by this? There’s literally a room full of people who just witnessed Aemond threaten Luke before they both take off on dragon back, and only one of them makes it back home. Like it’s not that difficult to put 2 & 2 together
Boros or his maester probably had the foresight to have a raven sent/send a raven the second Luke left as well. "Hey guys, sorry but no on that whole alliance thing. btw Aemond was here first; he promised to marry one of Lord Boros daughters. Aemond was a little unhappy seeing Luke, something about tearing his eye out. Stopped that from happening; expecting your thanks. Aemond left in a tiff after Luke as one of Lord Boros daughters insinuated that he had no balls like his lack of eye (book moment). Ha good one right. PS If this raven reaches you before your son he is dead. Vhagar is scary af. PPS (ignore if Luke returned) My condolences on the loss of your son. Still not on your side tho.
21:09 No, Daemon attacking Otto who is acting as an envoy would have been _very_ bad. You don't go after envoys in the same way you don't go after maesters, septons/septas, or silent sisters. It's like violating guest right. It's why Rhaenyra was comfortable sending Luke to Storms End. Boros doesn't even like Luke but you see that when Aemond tries to attack him, Boros immediately names Luke as an envoy and protects him. 8:01 Lee....
36:49 Vhagar is battle trained. She was one of the dragons used in war in the past. She is honestly probably the most battle trained/experienced dragon alive. It’s Luc Dragon that doesn’t have war experience. Most of the blacks’ dragons are not battle tested. Besides maybe 2 I think. As far as claimed dragons. Earlier in the season, viserys said that the idea that they control the dragons is a illusion. This is a example. Dragons choose who they let ride them and they have their own free will. The riders has as much power over the dragons as the dragons let them have. Aemond was just being a ass and Luc was trying to escape, but then their dragons started fighting on their own and Vhagar killed them.
for real, she is the equivalent of a 180+ yo war horse, you cant just take her out to play tag 😂. Arrax got scared, came for the smoke and she was not about to let that slide. To me it proved that aemond did not know or understand his dragon..
The only one that can go against Vhagar is maybe kerxes, Daemon's dragon if not then maybe that other dragon daemon is trying to bond with and daemon knows this, then again we saw how "good" daemon was fighting with Kerxes, not every good.
I understand all of that. But it still makes ZERO sense for that tiny ass little dragon to attack Vhagar. With a size disparity that big, the smaller animal is just going to run.
Dragons are not slaves, as was explained in previous episodes, and it was shown here that when their owner feels something like fear, pain, etc..their dragons feel it too...arrax was in fight or flight response that it feels fear and threat that attacks vhagar...aemond's mistake was he thought he could control vhagar...
@@YaBoyRockLee they feel their riders' emotions. In the scene of Rhaenyra, when she received the book page from Otto, Syrax responded to Rhaenyra sadness. It the same for Arrax and Vhagar. Arrax felt Lucerys fear that why he always said to Arrax to calm down. Arrax was so afraid that it triggers his fight or flight response and fired at Vhagar. While Vhagar felt Aemond anger.
The difference in Rhaenyra and Daemon's connection and control of their dragons and Lucerys and Aemond with theirs is on display throughout this episode. Syrax feels Rhaenyra's pain as she feels it. She stops her aggressive actions on the bridge at Rhaenyra's commands. And Daemon, with his successful approach to Vermithor. And when Caraxes came out seemingly at Daemon's command without even speaking. They have an understanding of the danger and power their dragons represent. Aemond and Lucerys though? One unable to control a young upstart dragon, and one hopelessly overruled by the greatest killing machine of the time. Viserys told us, the idea that the Dragons can be completely controlled is an illusion. Aemond was playing around with the most powerful weapon in existence, and he, Lucerys, and soon the whole realm will pay the price.
to be fair i think lucs dragon was terrified and just tried to defend itself and with them both being so young there was no way it was overcoming that fear and aemond completely forgot that vheagar has seen battle and would approach this as war
That is absolutely not true , all their bonds are strong, but a dragon is a dragon after all. In the book it is specified that when Aemond lost his eye, Vhagar roared, She could feel his pain. The thing about this fight is that Aemond did not want to kill Luke cause he knew what was coming If he did that. He still felt hatred towards him tho, and Vhagar could feel it too. A dragon isnt rational , they are war machines, so Aemonds feelings towards Luke, plus Arrax attacking her was enough for Vhagar to go into killing mode.
Such a great finale. Emma did a fantastic job conveying Rhaenyra’s emotions. Grief over the death of her father, betrayal when she found out Aegon was crowned, then losing her baby then her son…. that last look in the end said it all, the dance of dragons begins. On a side note, I was so glad to see Corlys again.
Daemon does have a good relationship but a stern one he’s teaching them how to be a DRAGON. As u see he wasn’t mad at Jace he took him outside and made those two kings guard acknowledge Jace as the rightful heir to the queen
This episode is what finally gets Rehnerya to see that peaceful option is not possible anymore, Alicent makes her fears a self-reliezing prophecy in this episode.
While Rhaenyra said that the dragons on their side have never seen war, Vhagar has seen plenty. She’s around 179 years old at this point and was one of the three dragons Aegon I used to conquer Westeros. My guess is that she has major PTSD and lost it after Arrax fired at her
15:51 The crown that they gave Aegon wasn't just "a crown". It was the crown of Aegon The Conqueror. They gave him that because in episode 3, Viserys talked to Alicent about his dream about a boy that was born to him, wearing The Conqueror's crown.
@@YaBoyRockLee They always speak of Aegon The Conqueror in high reverence in the show. It could be argued that his crown is an even bigger symbol than Viserys' crown because its the crown of the guy who started the Targaryen dynasty. That''s basically Daemon's idol, and that might also be one of the reasons why Daemon was so unhinged in this episode, because Aegon II is wearing the crown of his idol.
@@iconoclast6555 I think both visarys crown and aegons are equally important because visarys crown is also king jeharyes crown who is the best targaryen king and arguably the best king in westaros history .
That dragon Daemon is singing to is Vermithor, the second largest. That dragon is a bad ass! That was the king's dragon before Viserys. He used his dragon as a deterrent. There's a scene in the book where that king is treating with a former "enemy" (it's complicated), and the guy told the king "Oh. So you probably want some of my kids to live with you as hostages." The king took him for a "walk" around the grounds, and they happened to pass Vermithor while he was having a snack. The king turned and said, "What need do I have of hostages? You've given me your word and that is all I need." The maester that was with them said he heard the words the king didn't say, "Every man woman and child in your kingdom is my hostage, while I ride Vermithor." Not quite the biggest dragon, but definitely the nastiest. I can't wait!
That was Viscerys' crown, whereas Aegon is wearing the crown of his namesake Aegon the Conquerer, who was the one who originally had the dream of the Song of Ice and Fire.
"She was my only daughter and they killed her, they stole my crown and murdered my daughter, they will pay for this." - Rhaenyra Targaryen All she wanted was to have a daughter and because of the stress over her father's death and having what was rightfully hers stolen, she had a premature birth, it is described in the book that baby Visenya was born stillborn, deformed, twisted, with a hole in his chest where the heart would be and with a dragon's tail with scales.
Good analogy between the chihuahua and the rottweiler. There's only so much crap the chihuahua can take before it snaps, even though it stands no chance against the rottweiler. one bite is all it takes.
Lol I had to laugh at this comment even though it’s a year later and you probably aren’t going to see this. I have a 3 1/2 pound Chihuahua and yeah I’m here to tell you that’s a great analogy.
i keep seeing people get this wrong. Old rheanyra was about avoiding bloodshed. The first time otto and deamon met on that bridge what did she do? She showed up to prevent bloodshed. Shes not the ruthless killer type yet. Rheanyra has never moved like that in this season. The only time we saw her kill something was a boar. Shes not that type of queen. Until the end of this ep
The dragon Daemon was whistling to is the dragon of viserys and daemons grandfather (aka the king before viserys.) Daemon isn’t trying to bond with him as you can only bond with one dragon, he’s trying to get him used to human interaction again so they can potentially find a rider for him.
Jacerys is the one I think, but then again Dani had 3 dragons, the big one(drogon) barely listen to her same with the other one Visery's(the one that turned into a white walker) i think.
@@osmaniesquijarosa4308 If you think about it though she only bonded with dragon, the other two always just followed their brother. Which is why Jon was able to bond with Rhagal
I think the Stormlands are always in this weather condition. I remember watching a video saying that the Gods kept rain and storm here, but the leader of Baratheon kept building the castle until it was able to withstand their rage. I do agree though, I would have stayed in the castle until Aemond leaves. I wouldn't have thought Aemond would try to kill him in another Lord's castle, or at least I would have lost an eye.
Rhaenyra as the heir in court, voicing her opinion to her royal parent: "You have dragon riders father, send us." Jacerys as the heir in court, voicing his opinion to his royal parent: "Dragons are faster than ravens. Send us" She knew he'd go anyway if he felt so inclined. He's like her. She hoped Luke wouldn't have any problems, it's the easier job, closer to home, he'll be back tonight. That's what she would have thought. And for Jacerys it's a monumental moment to prove himself. I understand her.
Nah, he's just excited to go to war. It's funny how people really think that Daemon is this soft teddy bear on the inside. It's how people fall for bad boys/girls only to end up being in an abusive relationship in the end. The guy is just unhinged and loves to inflict violence. He even choked Rhaenyra when Rhaenyra didn't want to go to war.
I definitely think this is the best reading of that scene and why he refused to speak with the maester. The last time he consulted with a maester regarding a troubled labor of his wife, he was given an impossible choice. Of course a large part of him is also absolutely furious because he thinks his brother has been killed and another part of him wants to ensure the security of his home. He's a complex dude.
@@iconoclast6555 he's not excited does he look happy about this situation to you ? He's angry that they took his brothers throne behind there backs going against visarys wishes for there own gain , bro stop over simplifying daemon he's canonically stated to be a gray character he's not just some unhinged asshole he's complex yes he's violent but not without reason and he choked rhenerya because he's blind with rage and she's being passive like his brother which angered him .
Glad they showed Daemon and Rhaenyra united in their grief and anger at the end despite the tension between them earlier in the episode as they handled their tragedies differently. They both have a deep love for one another and can’t wait for them to take out their vengeance on their enemies in Season 2.
Vahgar is one of the 3 dragons from Aegons Conquest. Trust. The young one was like 13 years old. If I'm not mistaken Vahgar she is around 200 years old I think.
It's going to be a conflicting thing for this Aemond on whether or not he tells his family about Luke's death as an accident. I expect Aemond's gonna own up to it because no one might believe him if he tells it's an accident, it's gonna earn him infamy anyway. So for me it's kinda like Jaime Lannister styled as "Kingslayer", only for Aemond it's "Kinslayer", both of them choosing to carry the weight of the consequence of their actions moving forward. I'm not rooting for Aemond's redemption because I've read the book but I'm curious to see what happens to his character arc in the coming seasons. I'll keep an eye on him for sure. RIP sweet boy Luke~
@@jaieregilmore971 possibly but jaime was known as a kingslayer while being in the kingsguard, his vows and word stood for nothing after that, he only had status because of his father and sister otherwise he would have possibly been put to death or be irrelevant.
21:16 they come as envoys, i think killing envoys are sure good way of getting everyone in the realm to go against you. Its also why baratheon doesnt allow fighting between aemond and luke as luke is an envoy
Man I would have set camp in that ridge, have a family, grow crops on the rocks and waited 200 year for my young dragon to grow before I come outside...
That is why the book is a history book not novel, the show we see events as they are, people thought Aemond did it out of rage- in reality no one was in the skies to see what happened. For Aemond since his whole thing is duty and not harming the family it would not make sense for him to kill Luke, he's smarter than that. At the same time he does not want to be perceived as weak like he was as a child, so he will probably say he did it on purpose.
harming a guest is the highest treason someone can do in Westeros (looking at you Lord Frey but that´s one and half a century later) that´s probably why Luc felt reletivly save at Storms End
It’s like why play like that when you have the biggest dragon in the world, and we saw that Vhagar get over her riders quick so why even put these dragons in that situation Arrax was scared to, and did what he thought was best to protect Luke
Another thing people want to talk about a lot is how Daemon choked Rhaenyra to let her know they are coming for our kids shut up with these dreams they aren’t fixing to help us here. They seem to forget that Rhaenyra lost one child this is Daemon’s second child that died. The beach scene with him breaking down was so sad and amazing at the same time. Than Daemon made sure to hold Rhaenyra’s hand before telling her the sad news about Luc. After this episode Rhaenyra has now lost two children and three for Daemon cuz there ain’t no way he didn’t see Luc as anything other than his son so he’s pissed.
Daemon was right about Viserys Aegon and the past Targaryen kings all knew about Aegon the first dragon dreams but like him they didn’t let that get in the way of ruling they just remained at the ready. Daemon read about all of this for ten years they never forgot who the the hell they were unlike Viserys. For most of Viserys reign he let the free cites team with turn coat people of his kingdom steal from for decades. All that time Viserys was worried about his own house and not the threat to his kingdom by outsiders. Aegon the first would have ended them in the first episode that’s why I say Deamon is more like Aegon the first not Maegor. Daemon was telling her to remember who the hell she is. Also Daemon was the heir before her he found out that Viserys never meant for him to ever be his heir. Daemon wanted to choke the hell out of Viserys but he can’t cuz he’s dead.
28:33 Rhaenyra took the plan B tea after hooking up with Criston Cole. Not sure if you were just joking but I'm pretty sure Jace isn't meant to be Criston's son. He didn't even get that brown Dornish/Rhoynish skin like Criston.
The only thing I think Rhaenerya maybe did wrong was just send the envoys as reminders of their oaths instead of having some kind of offer in their back pockets. I know she expected Luke to be welcomed warmly but he wasn’t as prepared as he could have been.
If King Viserys wasn't a good King because conflict started the moment he's gone, then it could be argued that Tywin Lannister wasn't a good leader of his house either, because the moment he died, House Lannister fell apart and started losing the respect that they once had. I think Viserys was a good King. The conflict that started after his death was a product of accumulated decisions that that took place across more than 20 years and those decisions seemed good at the time they made them. Nobody can see what their decision today will result into 20 years later. Hindsight is 20/20. I do agree that he should have managed the succession part more. So I'll leave it at, he's far from perfect. But I'll definitely give him a passing grade as King. More than 20 years of peace in game of thrones universe? That's pretty good.
To be fair, I've seen people making the Tywin argument for years and I do agree with it. I give Viserys a pass because he actually attempted to keep peace between his family unlike Tywin who didn't seem to give a darn.
@@yusufraage8554 Daemon turned himself against his brother just by being Daemon. Say what you will about Otto but he's right about one thing, if Daemon becomes King, he would be another Maegor. This episode further confirms it. As complex of a character that he is, he only knows one solution to every problem and that's violence. He was so quick to assume that Viserys was murdered because violence is all that he has in his mind.
@@yusufraage8554 Daemon turned Viserys against him by being an awful person. Otto is correct that Daemon should be nowhere near a throne. Viserys' mistake was not being more forceful with his family. He should've ignored Alicent for example and married Jace and Helaena or ordered Rhaenyra back to court when she left.
The Dragon that Daemon was singing too its called Vermithor that is also know as "The Bronze Fury", Vermithor is a unclaimed dragon not a wild one and his past rider was Jaehaerys the old king that you guys saw on the first episode and also Vermithor is the second largest dragon alive at the moment, only Vhagar is bigger of the alive dragons well we also have a certain wild dragon that is also possible bigger ;)
You can't judge King viserys's kingdom and his rule when your team is the one bringing the smoke and starting this war. Like Aegon said himself, King v had 20 years to change the succession AND HE NEVER DID THAT. So regardless of whether you're choosing to go with alicat's flimsy oh he said on his deathbed excuse, or you're going with straight usurpation with Otto and his scheming, or now with Amond literally killing baby Luke and his dragon, all the results are the same. THE GREEN STARTED THIS WAR, THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT NOW!
34:45 That was such a valid point to make and I bet nobody else has even considered it! The entire time Jace was inside, Arrax was outside, being talked shit to by Vhagar, being threatened and bullied by a dragon much older, more experienced, and just generally aggressive. By the time Jace and Arrax booked out, they were both legit terrified.
Many have already stated what I was thinking. I would encourage you guys go back and watch the HBO behind the scenes from each episode (if you haven’t). It would answer a lot of your confusion from patron. Thank you for the entertaining run.
Of all the things the greens could’ve done to kick off this conflict this was the absolute worst possibility. Martyring a prince who was on a diplomatic mission, who also happens to be the grandson to a major house and heir to the Driftmark Throne Is simply beyond stupid, and no matter how reluctant that kin slaying piece of shit was in the situation his pride just doomed Westeros to Fire and Blood.
Second comment cause I love this episode so much. Vhaegar was one of the first three dragons brought to westeros. She was hatched on dragon stone and was the mount of Visenya Targaryen. She is not only a war proven dragon but at this moment is the most experienced dragon in the world. Aarrax of course was only as old as Lucerys here. And it still showed incredible restraint here and is a testament to Lucerys training with him, as a dragons natural instinct when threatens is to fight. There is so flee, there is no freeze, dragons will fight to the very end when faced against adversity they naturally respond to danger with aggression and they are very intelligent. So, ultimately, Aarax did his best to trust Lucerys on fleeing, but it likely panicked and attacked vhaegar in an attempt to scare vhaegar off. And either vhaegar decided she wasn't about that disrespect or she thought Lucerys was a dornishman and she was back in the war, either way rest in peice to Prince Lucerys. Or peices.
Aegon is older and on a more experienced Dragon. Luke is young and on a baby dragon. Dragon's are animals. Aegon put his dragon in an antagonistic position - chasing prey. When chased, Luke's dragon only had one recourse, which was fire. It's a baby and doesn't know any better. It hasn't been in war. Aegon's mother and father told him to leave the eye issue alone. Luke was 7 when that fight occured. He was also placed in that position bc Aegon grabbed him and choked him, went after his brother and he picked up a weapon. A 14 year old is still a child. Aegon was not a child. He was being childish while riding a WMD. He is to blame. You can't blame either dragon. They did what animals do.
Also gotta remember that Viserys said that the idea that dragon's can be controlled by humans is an illusion. This episode reveals just how true that was...
The translation has been confirmed thanks to the language's creator, David J. Peterson (via Archive Of Our Own). In it, it is revealed that the name of the song Daemon sings to Vermithor is "With Three Heads". Check the English translation: Fire breathes, winged leader but two heads For a third to sing From my voice: The fires spoke And the price has been paid with blood magic With words of fire with clear eyes To tie the three for you i sing As one we come together And with three heads We'll fly like we were meant to beautifully, freely In the book Aemond he kills Luke and because he wanted not to and as he is showing in the series that he is sorry, the name of Rhaenyra's baby would be a girl and her name would be visenya In the book Aemond he kills Luke because he wants to and when he gets home he celebrates and Aegon and alicent they celebrate luke's death different from the series they put it as an accident that the Two lost control of the dragons in the book there is no such thing as losing control of the dragons they spoiled everything in the series but anyway Aemond killed Luke he could have prevented it It was just him not following Luke but that asshole Aemond went after the kid now he's going to bear all the consequences now I' m wondering how they are they going to do this in the series because in the book the greens are all happy with luke's death for alicent, aegon and even aemond so i'm wondering how they are going to do it in the series because the writers put it as if it was an accident and that aemond didn't wanted to kill Luke unlike the book where he kills Luke because he wants to, I didn't like that much they did it just to make people feel sorry for the greens in my opinion,In the book Aemond kills Luke because he wanted to kill Luke different from the series that showed that it was an "Accident" but depending on how Aemond was and blamed for Luke's death he could have avoided it An example was just he didn't follow Luke then he wouldn't kill Luke anymore like Aemond is a donkey, imbecile is an idiot he did shit and now the greens will pay for everything they did Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming of a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection with their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns the whole transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they made Daenarys Daemon as crazy as it gets, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping on the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was at her most vulnerable and it wasn't easy.. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and the wife of Viserys died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. The scene on the beach was much longer of him on the beach Matt the actor he shot a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is not no saint anymore he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra just unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him much, i think the reason daemon didnt go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he feared having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her that way. When he dropped to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to get that baby out so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome... Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. we books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wish rhaenyra's death no and as in the series it shows that alicent is like that and because we books she does things because she because she is a bad person Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each one of their own ways, the daemon starts preparing for war because he knows Otto very well and he is afraid of losing his family One thing I say is that the two really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or not they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra she says that the daemon never laid a hand on Rhaenyra that this was the first time that Rhaenyra her character didn't care much because she knows that the daemon did that and Because he's angry and he's letting his emotion out and she also says which character of hers cares the most about what she just found out that the daemon doesn't know about prophecy because Rhaenyra I thought the daemon knew because he was heir to viserys for 10 years that's why she put a smile on the side of her mouth because she just found out that her father always chose her and Rhaenyra had her doubts if her father wanted her as heir remembers episode 2 when Rhaenyra talks to Alicent poise now after years he got her answer The daemon must be sad because it's his brother and he just found out that he was never chosen and that brother never trusted him enough to tell him and that's more heartbreaking A script for the first season came out that HBO thought of putting in the story a scene that the viserys was thinking of telling the daemon then he starts talking to the daemon but then gives up only that they They didn't put this scene unfortunately I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon smothering Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens, but the protector of his family. Daemon isn't a saint, but he's definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him. There are two teams, the Green Team that belongs to Alicent and the Black Team that belongs to Rhaenyra, I hope to see Rhaenyra with fire in her eyes in the second season, The Greens will pay for everything they did
They are messengers, they are probably didnt expect the greens also sends armond at the same time, no one would dare to kill luke and jaec, even aemond himself, it's all just accident and bad timing
@@dorkknight0790 Rhaenyra has been married with Daemon for a while. She should have asked him what happens to messengers, considering that he beat up, possibly killed, a messenger back in the Stepstones.
@@skullknight4579 there is stark, tully, many more in westeros, how they expecting aemond meet lucerys the boy who cut his eye, in storm end's? Even if aemond there he wont dare to kill lucerys, but accident happened
That other dragon Daemon was visiting is Vermithor. Daemon mentioned him during the meeting. He was the dragon of King Jaehaerys I, the king before Viserys.
Whether or not Aemond meant to kill Luke, it doesn't matter. He wanted to terrorize that kid and I don't really know what his endgame was. How far did he think it would go? Aemond is a kinslayer now and that will haunt his whole legacy the same way Jamie being a Kingslayer did. Kinslaying is one of the worst things you can do in this world. It's another reason Rhaenys wouldn't have killed the Greens. What I find interesting though, is that I think Aemond is going to say he meant to kill Luke next season instead of telling the truth. He doesn't have another option because he can't say he lost control of his dragon. It's better to look evil than it is to look incompetent. I'd argue Viserys was a great King and a kind man, but rather a pretty neglectful father and husband and that was his downfall. The realm was at peace during his reign, it was his family that wasn't. He couldn't move past his grief for Aemma to see the shit Otto was spinning behind his back and by the time he did, it was too late. Otto had already planted Alicent at his side and she gave him a son. The kingdom was fine, it was his own home that wasn't. Honestly, he should have named Rhaenyra Hand of the King after they murdered Lionel Strong. It would have been the smartest move.
Agreed with you on all points here. I hadn't considered naming Rhaenyra as Hand though that would have been perfect. Rhaenyra would have already essentially been ruler of the 7 kingdoms in that case by the time her father passed. At the very least if not Rhaenyra he should have named Corlys as hand.
Just for the record, #1 thank you for taking the time to share your point of view and your opinions, #2 You guys ROCK I love watching you, it is like being in the room with my kids( both of who are now your ages approximately, they are in late 20's early 30's) so it is like watching something with them. Thank you
Dude on the left said “oh he didn’t want to kill him, I get it…” like bro did Aemond shouting nonono not make that the most obvious thing in the entire episode😂
Jacaerys is basically doing exactly what Rheanyra did in episode 2. Telling her father to send her, a dragonrider to the steppestones. Corlys agreed then and he agreed now. Rheanyra also went without her father's leave as the sole heir. They were around the same age and she is "just a girl", must say the tune has changed quite a lot. It extremely stupid and rash, but it worked out before. now it didnt.
Visery's said it in the beginning, "Control of the dragons is all an illusion" its your bonds with them nothing else, when that predator instinct comes full swing you can't stop it. Arrax should've know his place against a 200 years dragon with PTSD from countless battles LMAO
Viserys broke the law the day he named Rhaenyra heir . Daemon was supposed to be heir since he dint have a son. The next in line male was Daemon. Viserys was named heir over Rhenys because it was made law at the great council that only males could inherit.
I might be wrong in this assumption but my read on Aemond's actions and why he didn't want to kill Luke is because of the political implication. This is because Aemond has clearly stated that he wanted to be king, and might be plotting for this to happen down the line. Killing Luke would mean that Aemond struck the first blow, a blow that will bite him in the ass with all sides as this is likely not something that Alicent or Otto is planning to happen this fast. He lost face with his own side due to this, being shown as brash and not in control. Whether he states that he lost control of Vhagar also is a risk, he either accepts the blame fully or states that he hasn't mastered his bond with Vhagar. To build a repertoire fit to be king with his side will now be much harder, especially because he has literally done nothing to diminish his aspect to be king except for this entire "grave" mistake. Basically his position was 100% flawless and now its in the shitter because he might have started the impending doom that is the coming brutal war in the worst way possible.
-Political consequences -Social consequences in that he is a Kinslayer which is one of the worst stigmas in Westeros -Emotional consequences in that this is probably the first time he's ever killed anyone
He would not go home because his mom sent him on a mission. His queen sent him on a mission his first one so he would think in his mind the way he’s been raised that to turn around and leave would be Craven and his mom would not respect that so he wouldn’t do it.
Not sure if you have gotten this far on Patreon yet, but you will see Viserys(Paddy Considine) in Peaky Blinders as well. He plays a....less likeable character in that one. Love the reactions, y'all! Much love.❤
@@YaBoyRockLee Yupp, that's him. Definitely a whole different vibe there. I gotta get over to Patreon. Waiting on these Peaky Blinders reactions is killing me!!!
Never should have sent Otto away should have sent him to the block for execution of Treason then that would have solved a lot. The other Hightowers better bend the knee
The daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra was it because of the prophecy because viserys didn't tell him (this doesn't exist in the books the Writers vented in the series) I understand the fight we both have because they don't talk like that on the same page, make the daemon put his hand on Rhaenyra, I think that was over the top, it wasn't necessary and the moment the daemon lets go of rhaenyra, you can see in the eyes of the daemon and Rhaenyra that they are both suffering and Rhaenyra says she never told you that and she smirks because she's realizing that the viserys chose her as heir to the throne because viserys didn't tell the daemon and Rhaenyra thought viserys had told him because the daemon had 10 years as heir and Viserys and after those 10 years, viserys never told him so he keeps imagining in the daemon's head how my brother who i loved so much never trusted me right now the daemon must be very hurt because daemon always wanted to show his worth to viserys and he loves his brother the daemon and a person who he has a hot head, he is proud, but he also has feelings, but sometimes he ends up expressing it wrong, then the daemon loses another child because he already lost one, then he discovers that his brother died Then later he discovers that his brother never trusted him and that it hurts his heart and daemon is feeling all of this but he ends up putting everyone else these feelings in rhaenyra who is not to blame it's the moment he lets go she sees his eyes of sadness and before he leaves if you notice he looks down he looks at her belly Then he remembers the daughter they lost, Daemon didn't stay with Rhaenyra because he didn't want to make the same choice he made with Laena the daemon has truama in fact the daemon always had for those who don't know the daemon's mother died in childbirth so the daemon already has a trauma because he never wanted to have children, so the daemon didn't want to be with Rhaenyra so he wouldn't make the same choice there when Rhaenyra loses the child Rhaenyra Stays with the daughter since the daemon goes to the beach to suffer there that reminded me in the first episode of the throne scene there is a daemon and viserys is the daemon tells viserys that each person suffers in a different way, and it reminds me of the scene the two are suffering each alone but rhaenyra and daemon are grieving for their daughter unfortunately we didn't see much of the other side of the daemon this season because the writers and HBO preferred not to show in my opinion the most wronged is Matt Smith Mano he made several scenes of the daemon showing the sentimental side of the daemon him hugging his daughters is him on the beach grieving for the death of his daughter with Rhaenyra and he spends hours and hours on the floor grieving for visenya's death and we simply received in this episode just a quick scene of him grieving for his daughter in the book it says a lot that the daemon is a great father and that he loved his two Wives Laena and Rhaenyra unlike the series which showed very little and I think it's really sad because they're not showing the real daemon Of course he's hot headed and he's crazy but man he loves his family he would never hurt his family until the actor himself says that the daemon would give his life for Viserys is Rhaenyra and very sad what they are doing to this character. The scene at the end was matt's idea he had an idea that who should break the news of luke's death should be the daemon there the writers and emma give up the idea there they did, if you notice it at the time of the scene when daemon enters in the room rhaenyra's attention goes all to the daemon because she knows that something has happened and on the way the daemon is approaching rhaenyra you notice that he puts a hand on his face indicating that he cried there when he got closer to rhaenyra he didn 't even be able to look us in her eyes 9:04 Daemon thinks that viserys was murdered because the greens made Aegon king right away and saved all the people in prison, not to mention that viserys is dead and this is all suspect, so of course Daemon or anyone else will think that viserys was murdered because the greens hid the death of viserys and they quickly put Aegon on the throne and when that nobody says Nothing to Rhaenyra so it's very suspicious so I understand Daemon's side of he's upset and angry is that now he wants revenge is we can't forget that Daemon and Rhaenyra are in Mourning but I also understand Rhaenyra's side of not wanting to go to war, what She was doing is right, a king has to keep the peace and Rhaenyra was trying everything not to go to the war and not having blood But now it's too late now it's war Rhaenyra has lost many things and now she has to fight for her Throne and for the lives of her children 10:54 what Rhaenyra said in that scene to me doesn't make sense she said that Daemon is crazy and that he's fighting his own war if you remember right in episode 7 Rhaenyra tells Daemon that she needs him and that she couldn't do this to herself , so she's asking him for help, here comes this scene where Rhaenyra says Daemon is waging his own war for me It doesn't make sense, Daemon is protecting his family, he's doing what she asked him to do in episode 7, I think it was a Script Hole because it doesn't make sense in my opinion 15:55 This scene with Rhaenyra was very beautiful, you can see that it was very different from Aegon, the two scenes are different, the music in both scenes is very good, no one can deny that, in the scene with Aegon, no one gets on their knees for him, in the scene with Rhaenyra everyone they get on their knees because she is the true heir to the Iron Throne, and I also noticed the reference in episode 8 when the crown of viserys fell and it was Daemon who placed the crown on viserys and now it is Daemon putting the crown on his wife his Queen 18:51 Refers to Episode 2 the difference between the two scenes and that in episode 2 Rhaenyra was on Otto's side and now in this scene Rhaenyra is on Daemon's side 20:43 References Episode 1 when Rhaenyra rips off a piece of the Book and gives it to Alicent Rhaenyra lost a lot of things she lost a father and she didn't even know he was dead because Alicent told no one to say that Viserys died and Rhaenyra didn't even go to the wake and she still loses A daughter she would be her first child with Daemon and she died and lost her other Son she lost everything because of the greens the baby that died she only lost and because she received a lot of information everything from Once and we know that when the person is pregnant you have to be careful because you can't have stress and Rhaenyra ended up having it because of the green ones the green ones will pay for everything they are Doing My Favorite Characters I have several more My favorite characters from 1st place is 2nd place is Rhaenyra is Daemon, What are your favorite HOTD characters? I hope you post your reaction to the second season of House of the Dragon
Adorkable in the intro is right in defending King Viserys. Imo he actually did his best to defend Rhaenyra's claim. During Laena's funeral, he declared that anyone who will question Rhaenyra's sons' legitimacy will lose their tongue, and of course, we all remember that epic episode 8, which I still think is the best episode of the season. Adorkable is also right in implying that Rhaenyra should have been in King's Landing to help King Viserys during all those times, because it will always be my gripe with Rhaenya- She didn't visit Viserys in King's Landing for 6 years even though Dragonstone is super close to King's Landing and she has a dragon to ride. She only did so when she needed political backing.
Rhenerya left because her being there caused problems with her family and she only went once vaemond tried to take driftmark from luce dispute his brother not being dead and going against her wishes but honestly I do aggre she should have at least visited kings Landing for visarys and should have stayed the night with rhenys so she'd know visarys died and take the throne immediately .
No way anyone can tell me that Rhaenyra and Daemon loved Viserys when they didn't go visit him once for 6 years until they needed something from him. Dude looked like death already in episode 7. Some of the way the show portrayed the characters was inconsistent, especially with all the time skips.
everyone in kings landingn was plotting her demise and illegitimizing her cclaim to the throne, she left to protect her own ofc she could go back if she wanted to. just like rhaenyra sent the kids back to dragonstone after the dinner after the fight bc she sees a reoccuring pattern of whenever she's in kings landing or in alicent's presence something goes wrong and it threatens her children. herr childrenn were being bullied and berated, not to mention daemon was banished from kings landing by viserys so unless it's formal events, rhaenyra would have to go alone each time.furthermore it is never stated if rhaenyra never visited in the 6 years, the show does big time jumps, she might have visited in the middle before her children with daemon were born but we don't know. her presence in kings landing would have vastly negative effects on her family and her claim, it's not like rhaenyra didn't keep in touch either cause she knew of viserys' condition before she visited just not how bad he looked...lord beesbury for example was the only one on the small council on her side, and yet hte minute viserys died, he died...she had little protection if she went aside from viserys, but viserys was rotting so early on and the man is spineless she has no other choice but to prioritize her children and evade the storm like laenor said
*The* *Dance* *Of* *The* *Dragons* *(Spoilers)* *Season* *1* Coronation of Aegon II (Ep 9) The Black Council and Coronation of Rhaenyra (Ep 10) Assault on Harrenhal The Dance over Shipbreaker Bay (Ep 10) They skipped Assault on Harrenhal. They might move it for S2. Maybe even by S2E1's opening shot. It was pretty much uneventful. Daemon lands on Harrenhal and takes over. No bloodshed. That only takes only a few minutes of scenes to accomplish. *Season* *2* Blood and Cheese Civil War in the Riverlands The New Green Hand Duel of the Cargylle Twins Duskendale and Rook's Rest (RIP Rhaenys)? The Dragonseeds Battle of the Gullet Battle of the Honeywine The Red Fork and the Fishfeed Fall of King's Landing The Red Kraken Butcher's Ball (RIP simp/incel) First Tumbleton (RIP Roddy the Ruin) Fall of Dragonstone Battle Above the Gods Eye (RIP Aemond, Vhagar, & Caraxes) Storming of the Dragonpit Second Tumbleton Rhaenyra's Death (probably sadder than B&C) Moon of the Three Kings Battle of the Kingsroad Aegon II's Death The False Dawn Hour of the Wolf Regency of Aegon III (this is the series finale) _ Wow. There's a lot of content enough for a 5th season. Now some minor events they might probably skip altogether or combine them for one episode like The Black Council and Coronation of Rhaenyra and The Dance over Shipbreakers Bay. They can combine Storming of the Dragonpit and Rhaenyra's death for one episode. Many events may only translate to only a few minutes during an episode. How long do you think Blood and Cheese lasts on TV? Maybe 3 minutes? The Red Wedding didn't last no more than 8 minutes and that's showing scenes with Arya and The Hound getting rejected at the gate. I believe Rhaenyra's death will be sadder only because viewers are more emotionally invested with her than they are with Helaena and Jaehaerys. It sucks for them but viewers will be attached to Helaena's eldest son as much as they were to Rhea Royce. Nil. I believe Season 2's finale will involve a major death. I'm guessing it will be Rhaenys because I believe S2 covers the first year of the Dance and Rhaenys dies at the end of 129 AC. I was reading what happens to Criston Cole. He dies in Butcher's Ball but he did retaliate for Blood and Cheese after he became Hand to Aegon II. I think Erryk Cargylle will be one of my favs. I can't believe he chose loyalty over his twin. I actually don't know everything that happens in the Dance. I still want to be surprised. Seems like a lot happens and everybody except Helaena are evil. My heartbreak will happen at Battle Above The Gods Eye. No more Daemon, I'm not sure I'll continue watching it much except after Rhaenyra dies. When viewers lose Daemon AND Rhaenyra, it's very difficult to be invested into the rest of the story any more. Rhaenyra could be gone by the mid-final season and viewers may lose interest. The Dance of the Dragons is a really sad story. No heroes. No real winners except for maybe Daemyra's bloodline. Imagine Season 1 is their HAPPIEST time? It's only going to get worse. Probably the characters we'll all be cheering for at the end will be *Cregan* *Stark* and *Aegon* *III.* The GOAT Stark fighter and Daemyra's eldest son AKA Aegon the Younger, Aegon the Dragonbane, Aegon the Unlucky, The Broken King, and The Uncrowned King. Throw in *Baela* on Moondancer for fatally wounding Sunfyre before Moondancer dies herself. Daemon is the real winner then. He sacrifices himself to kill Aemond and Vhagar. He goes out like a boss, a war hero, and legend without his body ever being found. His eldest daughter fatally wounds Sunfyre on a tiny dragon and Baela still lives. His eldest son takes over the Iron Throne. His second son will produce the lineage that will produce The Mother of Dragons and The Prince That Was Promised. And Aemond stans be trolling typing Aemond > Daemon. 🤣 GTFOH. They're just losers like their one-eyed boy and have burner accounts for Daemon too because they idolize him too like Aemond does.
Aemond shouldn't have bullied him in such close quarters. He has the biggest dragon in the world. And possibly Arrax is the smallest. There was never a contest. He didn't even respect the lack of strength on Luke's part. He got a dragon even if he lost an eye. Though its not fair his ego killed Luke who didn't even want to fight.
@@vei80s53 they definitely are, they are talking about it like "it happened then, it doesnt matter now". It does matter, cause it's not like he got his eye back after the accident. He had to live with it all his life. Consciously or unconsciously, he hated Luke and I'm pretty sure that no amount of therapy can make You like the person who maimed You. My heart breaks for Luke, but people refuse to validate Aemonds feelings too and act like he had no reason to hold a grudge against him.
@Bla Bla he obviously said that to calm down his mother; She was the only one that cared about him in that moment, viserys, his father, couldnt care less. it was definitely not a fair trade, no one else had to give something else in order to claim a dragon.
I don't think it would make sense for Luke to stay even just for the night in a castle who's lord just swore their alliance to King aegon. He couldn't turn back too when he saw vhagar when he arrived bc right before he was killed it was a war of image and alliance. you're gathering allies so you can't show any weakness or fear. they're literally campaigning their party and their claim. i wouldn't ally myself in a war to a party whose representative runs away in fear just bc someone got there first. or at least that's what luke was prolly thinking.
Luke was likely thinking that, and he would be correct. Boros might turn him away, but what hope would Rhaenyra have of winning Boros to her side if Luke was publicly seen to be a coward who ran at the sight of Aemond's dragon?
@@oberon9015 yep if i was luke, my prideful self would've not gone home rather than say, "sorry mom, i saw vhagar and i ran back home, i didn't bother trying to speak to boros coz i got scared." so major props to luke. bravery isn't about being not scared. it's about being scared but still doing it. lil bro tried his best and I'm proud of him. 🥲
@@monie3558 Explaining the situation would mean saying "I'm afraid of Aemond" which weakens his mother's cause and makes his family look weak. He'd then have to contrive to somehow stay under Boros' protection until Aemond left when he had no way of knowing when that would be.
@@monie3558 I disagree a little bit that he is reasonable. He broke his father's oath for a chance to get closer to the iron throne. Only reason he didn't want bloodshed of a prince in his hall during a war is Rhaenyra's side would retaliate against his house. If I was Rhaenyra, if i send my son to your house and gets killed, I would first chase Aemond and then you can bet your sweet butt I'm coming for your house next lmao
Once King Viserys named Rhaenyra as Heir, and she accepted and embraced it - things changed. She had to KNOW that she can't "be free" as her Uncle Daemon manipulated her to be, and out here in these sKreets being a full City Girl. Rhaenyra weakened her own claim to the throne by BLATANTLY having a gaggle of CLEARLY non-melanin-nated, plain featured children.
The chocking scene was disgusting and they ruined daemon's character... This never happened in the book...and daemon would never behave like this with rahnerya... Infact opposite he would kill anyone who dares to touch her😶 Also about the war...that was wrong as well...in the book he was the one ..who wanted to know about any diplomatic solutions before all out war😶😶😶😶😶 Both rahnerya and daemon wanted the throune equally.... They ruined his character in episode 10...wtf is wrong with showrunner 😶
The truth is that in this chapter I do not understand Rhaenyra, she wants to bring peace after she has been removed from the throne and has been humiliated since she had Asus children, what was she saying to Daemon in chapter 1x7, I cannot alone with them greens I need you and now that daemon realizes that the throne has been taken from his wife what is the first thing he does to look for allies reinforce dragontons in case they attack them and she starts to fight with him because she thinks she can do things better than him that is why it is the anger of daemon who sees in her a viserys 2.0 he knows that the hightowers have been the problem from the beginning that daemon told viserys I will protect you from anyone but that is what hurts daemon realizing that viserys I never trust him if daemon he has never been a character neither good nor bad to him the only thing that matters to him is to protect his family I know that what he did to rhaenyra was not right but that is what bothers him to see that rhaenyra be like viserys who lets himself be manipulated by others
It's really one of those situations where Aemond's original intention just doesn't matter in the grand scheme here, he had his fun in that courtroom when he could already see that Luke was scared of him. He needed to let it go right then and there, the fact that he pushed it as far as he did, putting a veteran legendary battle dragon like Vhagar in the air for a cat and mouse game only to then lose control of the entire situation. Like his shock and horror at what happened doesn't erase his faults in this situation. Sure he never wanted to kill Luke, but he put him in the position to die. This is literally 99% his fault if we wanna give 1% to Vhagar herself but even she was just acting on animal instincts so 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ also...Borros watched his unhinged guest Aemond threaten a 14yr old Luke who was just a messenger/envoy in public and later they'll find out said little boy died after Aemond went after him, idk how the story goes from here but surely as Borros you start to second guess that alliance you made, no? 🤣🤣 Sure you get a marriage pact out of it, but your new son-in-law killed an envoy who was a prince, his literal nephew, an action like that can't be held in high regard surely 😂
Intention always matters. You'd look at him a lot differently if killing him was 100% his plan. Of course it doesn't erase what happened, but still matters in the grand scheme of things.
Balerion was 3x more bigger then vhagar , now we have Vermithor , cannibal , Morghul , cannibal more old then balerion and he still alive , balerion died 202 years old , cannibal is 35 more older and he survive all dance
My dream match i want to see Caraxes Syrax and Vermax vs Vhagar and Sunfyre Meleys vs Dreamfyre Tessarion vs Moondancer Tyraxes and Arrax vs Jaecherion
Lucerys grew up soft cause Rhaenyra was overprotective, but he was def not a coward. Dude was 14 and saw that massive fuckin dragon and knew Aemond was already in there, but still did his duty. He was set up to fail by his mother not prepping him well and also sending him alone when he has never done anything like that before. Rhaenys really should have escorted him. Storms end was not far from dragonstone and she had Baratheon blood. Plus with her Dragon Meleys there, Aemond would have not done what he did.
Cowardly should not have been worded. He’s just a good boy. Not used to describing a boy like him without being cowardly. He happens to be a nice boy and brave. Simple as that. Would have been a good husband too
you guys notice that the adults never have to tell their dragons to "calm down" or "serve me" even when they are threatening people they have way better control
