Bass cover of Aeroplane by Red Hot Chili Peppers from their album "One Hot Minute". Thanks for watching! My Patreon: / juliaplaysgroove IG: / juliaplaysgroove_official
@@paxonearth Just over 30 and been playing about 3 months now. Picking it up relatively fast. And I got to say I can't put it down, it's changed my life. 🤣
It sounds so perfectly similar to the studio version, the tone, feel and accuracy. amazing how much effort and talent were thrown into these 5 minutes. keep it up! subbed
Rich Junior what do you mean it’s just you hear the bass more, which is literally the point of an instrumental cover. What’s more, if you think about it, she’s playing the exact same part as Flea(who is a grand master at bass) in the song, so no it’s not better.
God Damn, girl. I'm 20 years old. I've been player bass since I was 5. and you, my friend have 64 times the funk I do. Jesus, you are like some funky bass angel.
Jackbho yah, I saw the show FLCL when I was five and immediately got a bass and started teaching myself. And I suck at upright. I play a rickenbacker electric.
FLCL? I've seen that show before. So now you have a Rickenbacker just like Haruko, cool! I play a Thunderbird IV pro, Jay Turser viola bass, and an upright that I rent from my school (I'm in grade 11) because they're super expensive.
Jackbho that's awesome, man! and yes. I still have to get my Ric repainted in Azureglo to be like Haruko's. but it's a start. XD I also have a Black Cat named Takkun from the show too. XD
Azureglo Rics look awesome. My favourite is walnut tho. I started playing bass because I was the only tall one with big hands in my strings class back in grade 7, so my music teacher said that I have to play it because nobody else was fit for it. After about a year of playing upright, I watched Flea and Les Claypool playing and thought "Holy crap I wanna do that," so I bought a Jay Turser viola bass :)
I 'found' Julia in 2021 + here I am making my way back through her covers catalogue. And here's Julia at 16 (!) already sounding like a seasoned veteran ! That awesome talent, dedication and hard work is just mind-blowing !
Check out the video by David Carracio "RHCP - Aeroplane [300th Bass Cover]", this young lady did an amazing cover but his is cool as he plays about 20 different bass guitars so you can really hear the difference sound each one has
Siema from Finland! I've been playing for a while - I'm 35 now, started at 14. Played a lot of RHCP back in the day on guitar and bass. And I must admit I never got this bass line down on this level or even close. Sound is amazing, phrasing accurate, just grooving like hell. Only mistake I noticed was at 2:24 where I guess she meant to hit the pop a bit louder, but these things happen and that's really nothing considering how SPOT ON the whole thing was otherwise. And this was 6 years ago! No wonder she developed into what the new videos are, not only mastering but adding to some of the biggest absolute banger bass lines of the modern times. This already blew my mind. Can only humbly admire the progress and sheer talent and hard work that went to it 🤩Slapped subscribe like it was a Flea bass line 🤙
Why in blazes did 25 people bother to go thumbs down on this video??? When I was your age, Julia, I was still not using my pinky on the fretboard! You've got IT girl and you just helped a 57 year old gigging bassist figure out "Aeroplane". THANK YOU!
I've never commented on RU-vid videos but i couldn't resist it this time. Seeing young people who appreciate music, listen to proper music and perform it in this way makes me feel so happy and understood. Keep doing what you're doing, cause you're amazing at it!
I've had to play that song more than 15 times live myself. You nailed all the important details, which is the hardest part of this song, you beast !! Props !!
@@bigfootlover23 Plus, yes, there actually is. At least in the beginning, she is very, very close to what Flea actually plays in the background, only on the CD mix his slightly messier bass sound kind of drowns in the noise. Sadly. But yes, it´s one of the most funky RHCP songs.

I'm 21, I started learning bass a couple months before she did according to her channel and she's 10x better than me! I actually took lessons too for 4 years. How is she so perfect with potential of being in a band while I sound mediocre?
I have become such a fan of this young lady. As a drummer I am always drawn to extraordinary bassists. Julia is just that. EXTRAORDINARY. She is doing youth right.
You play with more authority than anyone else I've watched playing bass covers on RU-vid. You fit right in to every song you play, on point with the time and feel, as if you wrote those basslines yourself. Keep it up, you kick ass and I hope your love and dedication to playing brings you to an awesome life of doing what you love.
Hey Julia! I became aware of your channel just a few weeks ago and I must admit: your playing is amazing!!! You nailed this very hard to play bassline to the ground with groove and expression, great!! I am a professional bass player for over 30 years and I think I have some knowledge and skills about bass playing... So, all I want to say: GO AHEAD! And don't give a shit to those 181 dislikes, there are a lot of stupid and ignorant people on this planet. Best wishes, Tom
Whoever gives this a thumbs down is void of any appreciation of how good this young lady is, she simply has "the funk", Flea would be very pleased to see and hear this video
Years ago my dad(avid music fan, never played an instrument) and I were scrolling youtube looking up covers. One of his turns he wanted to hear a bass cover of this song. The first two or three videos we found my response was quickly "nope, lets find another." Then we found this video. He didn't understand why I was unhappy with the other cover videos until we got to this one. This is the only channel I recommend anytime I get a student interested in bass.
Julia, you absolutely nailed it! I've watched nearly all of your videos, and you sure know how it's done. I love your timing, tone and eclectic taste. You rock girl!
You wizzard!! 😄It is such a delight to see and hear you play. The way you groove, you're technique, and "something" that turns a big smile on my face! Thank you.
How did people down vote this? This is the greatest thing I've seen on youtube in years! Lol. KILLED IT. I've been playing bass for 19 years, and you just embarrassed the hell out of me. Wtg! 👏👏👏👏
Wow wow wow A perfect cover at the forefront of the groove and some beautiful heralding signs of the unique and singular bassist that you are today! Really amazing
I've watched a bunch of your videos, and I must say you're a real talent. You're very musical, have great sense of rhythm and you have technique, too. I played the bass for a while, and I used to play along to songs and Aeroplane was one of my favorite songs to play along to. But I was never as good as you :)
You are better than any bass player I've played with and I've been playing guitar for 20+ years. Your amazing . You definitely have a bright future ahead of you. Great work.
One more prove that you can make any bass sound good, this SUB just shines in the right hands : ) ... way to go! I own a Sterling , and could never make it sounds this good if I tried ; )
llevo muchos años tocando esta canción, pero nunca había visto alguien que la tocará así de bien , Felicidades , que buen trabajo Saludos desde Nicaragua
I absolutely love how the camera goes in and out of focus because of her movement and the rhythm she's riding on her left leg, especially during the walk up/downs at the end.
Wow.. I've been playing for 8 years and I'm just learning slap, and this was the first song that I'm currently learning. But this was flawless🤤 I'm jealous😤
wow...wow.....one of the best interpretation of this song...personally one of my favourite because the bass guitar, I'm a guitar player but this make me desire to learn bass
Its not the bass lines that impress me. (Although they are fucking awesome) the the natural timing and how in the pocket every note falls. A musician beyond her years with a natural talent. So so good.
It's a good cover...what more is there to say? Oh yeah; you're so locked in and tight on every note it makes each video well worth sitting through for every second. Peace from all your fellow bassists here in Scotland, keep playing Julia and damn you don't you dare stop!
I rarely make comments. I am shy. :) But I love your Aeroplane so much that I will watch your new releases, but always gravitate back to Aeroplane. Keep them grooves coming. I am just starting bass and this is great inspiration. :) Be Well!!!!
