@@bobby_grout it looks like it would be super similar but I haven't swatched Poppet in person! It might be a touch more muted but if you already have it, you likely wouldn't need both 😊
Kackie, may you always get distracted and chase every creative rabbit down. Especially if you share those creations with us. None of us need to be in a rush to buy these things. Just happy to be here xx
Kackie, I am 53 and love your content. I love this review content (and I don’t buy a lot of stuff) and the other recent ‘curriculum’ content as well. Keep being you and thanks for all that I enjoy and learn from you.
I love the one Rhode blush I have in Freckle - it goes on smoother than my Westman Atelier and they settle in and give me the perfect sun burn. The rest are meh but Freckle is my blush from now on.
I do think the rhode stick blushes are different from dupes of the exact same colors, just because they are such a good formula. They don't get patchy on me, they are so easy to blend, and they LAST all day long on my skin. I hope they extend the shade range soon for more inclusivity.
You just keep shining like a star in my eyes! Thank you for pointing out that the blushes don’t work for deep skin tones. So many creators just look at the campaign photos, and sees a brown skinned girl and says that the range is inclusive. 💕
I went wild with Phytosurgence last summer and got kinda.....all....the blushes, so I will not be buying blushes for a while, but love watching your reviews anyway for fun 🙂
Same, lol! Wearing Evaporate right now. Those Phyto blush balms are one example that makes me kinda sad for makeup reviewers. They have to try new hit-or-miss things all the time. Whereas we plebeians get to use the same, immaculate makeup every day 😅
One thing I’m realizing about my preferences (RMS smile actually taught me this lesson!) is that I truly prefer blushes with a decent amount of white pigment. I don’t actually know what this means, but my current theory is that because my skin is quite fair, the white does some color correcting of redness/darkness on my cheeks and allows the color to show up more true to pan and flattering on me. I love love love that phytosurgence mentions the amount of white base in each of their blushes!!! Because as much as I want a truly inclusive line of blushes, many colors can’t/won’t work for everyone and I prefer a wider range than a couple of almost-universal options.
I do appreciate that you always point out how other darker skin tone creators have reacted to makeup releases. But it's just something I WISH would be talked about more: some of the no makeup/clean girlie brands do not care to include deeper skin tones. They don't include them in ads, they don't make formulas for it, and they don't care what message it sends. And it's frustrating to CONTINUOUSLY recieve from that sub text messaging that black and brown women are not beautiful. (Also, hailey beiber brand not including formulas for deeper skin tones gasp. I'm just...I don't know who's surprised by that from looking at the target demographic from the site! Come on.)
One of my favorite things is when people say to check the Black model's face in the promo photos. Like if she's with two other girls, one fair and one medium, and she knows the shade range sucks, her face will oh so subtly say so 😂
Yay!!!!!! Thank you. This is exactly why I needed this video from you. I literally have these colors in formulas I adore and I needed you to tell me that lol. Maybe a new short series... do I already own this color? Yes, yes you do. I love when you compare formulas etc so that I can make an educated decision based on skin tone and skin "texture" meaning (oily, dry, normal etc etc).
Thank you for reviewing these blushes, and providing the dupes. Being Canadian, I am going to support Phytosurgence and order the dupes for Freckle, TT and SG!
Thanks Kackie! Love everything you do! I’m looking for a blush like Glossier Fuzz before last year’s reformulation and am hoping sleepy girl or one of her cousins is the one!
Thank you sooo much for this video! I’m really not a fan of Hailey or her brand… but the shade freckle has been living rent-free in my mind since this dropped 😅
Every time you do a swatching video I lose so much productivity at work because I have the compulsion to sit in my home office floor and start swatching blushes against one another 😂 so here I am Also, I came into this video not interested in these and you have confirmed my non interest, so thank you!
Is 2024 no one can invent water anymore. However, rhode is such a cool brand & these blushes are the most flawless & easily bendable blushes I ever bought. Way superior to any other brand I tried before, especially Rare Beauty. Rare beauty has pigmented blushes but they don't blend in nicely, the colours are boring & the tubes drive me nuts.
Can you compare Toasted Teddy with Fox from Merit? I'm wondering if they're similar, because I know Fox and Inferno from Phyto are similar, and I already have Fox. I can take Toasted Teddy off my wishlist if so.
@PatThisGal OMGG YASSS but just Merit blushes in general!!! I love my merit and have yet to see anyone compare Rhode formula with it!!! Everyone just raves how amazing it is but few like our Kackie give more input if it compares with products we might already have
@@PatThisGalfervor and sublimate are both darker and more red than sleepy girl. Fervor is also a lot more purple. Sleepy girl is a lot lighter and more pink.
I stopped at the packaging. It’s called pocket blush, presumably because it could fit in a pocket? But then the packaging is oversized? I truly hate oversized packaging. And it would fit better not just in a pocket, but in a makeup bag, if it was smaller. Just sayin’.
Folks, is the Rhode blush in Sleepy Girl better than the Saie in Chilly? I'm embracing minimalism with my beauty products. I love my Saie dew blush in Chilly, no complaints about it. It also did not break me out, which is one of the main factors I look for. I wouldn't want to use it for more than 1 year, so I want to replace it. Either I buy the same blush or try the Rhode. I need some insights please!
I really appreciate this video!! I have inferno so now I know I already own that shade of Rhode. If you did a video like this for every hyped blush launch I would be so grateful 😅
I liked Piggy and Freckle but I HAVE Stockholm and Beverly Hills Merit Blushes. Which to me color wise are pretty similar. Anyone in comments if you have tried Both Merit and Rhode I would loveee to know feedback of the formula comparison. I'm Mature, dry, texture, hyperpigmentation cheeks and the Merit has been extremely flattering for me.
Have both, dry mature skin no texture. Merit is sheer, more balmy, more shine, lighter, less staying power unless you use a blush powder on top. Rhode has a lot pigment, have tu use light hand, creamier , more dense, better staying power but not as good as rare beauty liquid blush, maybe is longer in normal skin or if the skincare is not too heavy or set with powder blush. FOR ME are very different, rhode in texture skin I think can be not very flattering, I do not like them using fingers or sponge, because they disrupt the foundation or tint or whatever , only with stippling brush. I like them, not love them….but try one.
I was very interested in the Teddy shade … I do have Ami Cole’s Dune so I’ll pull that out lol Thank you for all the swatches and showing different skin tones! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
thank you for this review! super specific question - do you know how toasted teddy compares to Make Beauty Heat Stroke in Scorched? maybe they aren’t comparable since Heat Stroke isn’t technically a blush? I already own Scorched but find that the lasting power isn’t great (I have oily skin)
I have your summer abroad collection- glad I can pass on freckle. Curious if macchiato looks anything like that teddy shade! Glad to see there's photsurgence dupes, I'd frankly rather support that brand than Rhode. I appreciate these deep dives, tysm Kackie!
I love Phytosurgence with all my heart. That said, I did get Toasted Teddy (and I own Ignite), mostly because I wanted to see the hype. One was enough. I love his creams, and I cannot wait to get my lip balm.
What I do like about these blushes, is how I can just throw them in my purse, and use my fingers to touch up during the day as they are so lightweight and stay closed. The phtyosurgence ones are just as beautiful, and more nuanced (overall better), , but the glass is heavy and for me, I worry about breaking them and the WA ones are so expensive, I worry about losing them. I'm hard on my bags and constantly misplace things.
Phytosurgence is AMAZING. I have a blush, eyeshadow, and the moisturizer and im blown away by each one even though the formulas are obviously very different. I really don't think you'll be disappointed in whatever you may try :)
I bet Toasted Teddy is also similar to Fenty Rose Latte and Tower 28 Power Hour. They're def in the same family as Inferno. I think there's an LYS one too that's similar (in the pan) but the name is escaping me...
I can’t tell if it’s the lighting, but…. Au Lait looks SOOOOOO pink on me that when I saw the swatch, I rewound like 7 times to make sure I was looking the correct shade. Color theory is WILD!
The heavy white base on piggy just didn't work on my high contrast coloring, light skin and black hair. I wish I would have gotten sleepy girl instead.
Do you mean the color theory rabbit hole? It was interesting, but honestly, I didn’t get it. I love your deep dive review/comparison videos like this one!
Does anyone have a pocket these will fit in though? LYS Confident is one of my favorite blushes...and I love blush. I'm a fair, desaturated cool-leaning neutral. Sleepy Girl was one I was drawn too so glad I can save me some moneys👍
Kackie, I am begging you - please reveal where the gold necklace you're wearing in this video is from. I follow you on Instagram and have never wanted a piece of jewellery more! I can't find a similar one anywhere!
Thank you, woman for all those comparisons! so basically I can look to pytosurgence if I love any of those colors and then I won’t need to deal with the little lump of poo poo packaging 😂 make up is an experience and that packaging is not the experience I want.
I swatched joy. First swatch against spicy marg. It is coral. For reference brands are putting out very stark oranges and lilacs right now. When I say orange I mean very orange.
Is there a planet reason for why everyone is struggling with sentences lately? I swear I’ll try to say something but then I give up and just say WORDS.
@@ojaigirl Thank you, that's what I figured. I get this impression that sleepy girl is a bit more red compared to condensate as well, but I can be so off
I have an unsubstantiated theory that this blush line was originally named something like "Pocket Rocket" and all the shade names were skewed PG-13 as well (e.g., toasted teddy was "torn teddy", freckle was "inner thigh freckle", piggy was "squeal", you get the idea). But then in market testing, the brand realized that their target audience of Gen-Z kids dislike overtly sexualized media.
Not surprising at all that there are dupes. I stopped buying blush a long time ago because there is absolutely nothing out there, in terms of shades that is not dupeable. Not to mention that when you realize that shades really dont show all that different, as evident,on your face, it makes it pointless to keep buying new blush products.
