🇬🇷WE TRAVELLED TO RHODES ISLAND IN GREECE FOR 4 NIGHTS AND 5 DAYS AT THE BEGINNING OF APRIL 2023 - WE STAYED IN RHODES TOWN AT THE MITSIS GRAND HOTEL AND TOOK A DAY TRIP TO LINDOS AND PACKED IN LOTS MORE IN AND AROUND THE NEW AND OLD TOWN OF RHODES DURING OUR STAY 🇬🇷
I booked a package deal through Easyjet from Bristol to Rhodes last year for 4 nights at the 5* Mitsis Grand hotel near Elli beach in Rhodes town. For flights, bags, transfers and all inclusive hotel it costs me around £750 for myself and my 13 year old son (i booked last year) - we dont normally opt for all inclusive but the cost was too good to miss and meant i saved money. We absolutely loved this trip and really want to go back in the warmer months so we can island hop and expreience swimming in beautiful Lindos and walking around the old town at night....we will be back one day
Day 3 & 4
Today was suppossed to be raining with thunderstorms for most of the day....apps were wrong! The sky and sea colours were amazing this morning and warm too, already 20 degrees at 11am but, it was windy! We walked down the coastal path to a beautiful cave - cave of Archangel Michael Panoramitis which took around 15 minutes to walk and is a free attraction. If ever you are near by, this spot is a MUST see... besides the beautiful cave itself which is full of frescos and always lit up with candles day and night and open 24/7, the sea colour here is like nothing i've ever seen!! So turquoise! Really pretty. Next we walked into the old town which was another 15 minute walk away (by the time we walked back to our hotel later that day, we would have walked essentially a circluar route). We wanted to go up the clock tower which was advertised as open online but was closed when we got there - we tried again the following day and it was still closed as were many shops and restarants this time of year unfortunitely. Next we went to the Grand Masters Palace and walked the fortified walls of the old town - both must do's when in Rhodes town. The views were amazing from the walls and an easy flatish walk. We popped into the 9d cinema as it started raining and although was a short watch of around 25/30 minutes it was worth the experience and we learned more about Rhodes history. We also go on a submarine boat trip, a hop on hop off bus tour, visit the windmills of Mandraki, visit the acropolis of Rhodes and Rhodes olympic ancient stadium and much more including going back to Ronda beach bar at night for cocktails

@@Clairegoeswhere try to get to the smaller villages away from the seaside 'resorts'. You get more appreciation in the roadside tavernas.

Oh my gosh, Rhodes is beautiful 😍. Looks like you had a fantastic break, the weather was lovely and everywhere looked pretty quiet - I really can’t cope with huge crowds or extreme heat so to me it looks like the perfect holiday! 😂 Thank you so much for sharing Claire, it’s really giving me something to think about! 😊🥰 xx

Ooh yes April would be great but, there is the possibility of rain well, this year has seen really bad weather all over the Mediterranean this year unfortunately which is unusual. My friend lives in Malta and it’s been raining there recently too! We chose Rhodes town as it was out of season so knew the new town would be all open etc it’s just the beach side bars and restaurants that were closed but as April goes on, more places will start opening up. It’s strange seeing the beach opposite our hotel having loads of people and sun beds on them now - a big difference to around 6wks ago. The buses run less in April but still many available to take you to the main towns, and boats to other islands run etc I would go back in April or beginning of May again definitely 😊

Ooh or the start of October might be a good month too - the sea temp would still be lovely too! We went to Parga in Greece last October and it was so lovely, great weather and quiet too. One thing though in April and I’m guessing October, the beach resorts might be shutting down or not open yet. But if you base in Rhodes town you’ll be ok

Hi there, I would go back again if the price was good!! I loved the location - so close to the new and old town and all the great beach bars near the aquarium. The hotel is large with a few pools and we thought the food was great! We had free wine beer and soft drinks added to our mini bar for free each day! The negatives are that we found there wasn’t enough seats for everyone in the bars and lobby at night and also near the different eateries outside by the pool in the afternoon and this was first week of April and just a few days after opening for the season! They might in busier months add more seating ?! Also there was long queues to have our evening meal most night going down the corridor outside the main buffet restaurant- I hate queues but we waited no longer than 15-20 minutes to go in and be seated. Our room had the best views but it was one of the old sea view rooms and definitely not 5star - lots of work is needed to modernise it. We just paid around £800 for 4nts all inclusive plus flights bags and transfers with easyjet for 2 of us. I have a hotel room tour video on my channel of this hotel if you haven’t seen it already. I liked it and would go back again but only if we got a good bargain. I’d say it’s more 4 star than 5 and done rooms need renovating.
