'RHONJ' Star Caroline Manzo and Daughter Lauren on Gastric Surgery 

I wanted to hear Caroline, just once, tell her daughter that she was beautiful just as she is. But instead she CONSTANTLY referred to Lauren's needing to lose weight. Every single time. And Lauren was never all that big to begin with. I'm glad if she is happy & healthy now, in any case.

Until you've lost significant weight yourself, don't judge people for how hard it is and how people like you are the reason she felt she needed to do that. You have no idea how hard she tried or the emotional impact it has on a person. Everyone has issues and problems. So just try to be nice and not make others feel more insecure

Caroline was saying loose few pounds but she was never huge huge, banding and gastric surgery is exstreme, and is there for people that are not loosing weight and are at risk of other health problems or death. Lauren does look good but just think for her weight initially it wasn't required.

She will never be small, and she pretty much looks the same. She's a big-boned girl.

I love Caroline. And it's better that her family supports her. Even though the truth hurts. It's better to get it from your family that way they support you. I wish Caroline was my mom. She faces things up front and realized her daughter had a problem. You can tell they are a loving and supporting family. Go Manzos!!!

I couldn't wait till the new season to see Lauren..so I came on You Tube to take a look and Lauren you are beautiful and keep up the good work! I adore you and your family...and of course the show!!

She looks like she lost like a little weight, but not "that" much to be honest, she still looks like she did before

Lauren looks great. I had the weight loss surgery. I have lost 240 pounds. Congratulations to lauren manzo. So happy for her. Keep up the good work.

Lauren showed some real ugly not nice stuff cause she was jealous of her brothers. What she refused to see was how good she had it, instead she was always playing the victim of her brothers' happiness'. Her mother said it one of the napa episodes, lauren ( not 100% accurate) is " being an asshole" when she was thwoing a fit on the napa trip. And my patience for caroline has always been thin anyways, so for me to take her word about lauren being an asshole, well to me that says a lot.

Lauren looks so healthy,happy & great. Good for her.

I think some people have a really hard time losing weight. She might have been one of those people so i say if u really want it and have the money go and do it

Not only working out, but food. They love food and that is the hardest thing to curb when you're trying to lose weight. Life style change is the best way to lose weight. But a lot of people need the all around support to make such changes, and I don't think Lauren had that support.

First off, how do you know how hard she tried @malibuXoXobabe ? Food addiction is a serious problem . I'm sure if you were/are struggling with your weight having the option of the surgery would be really nice to have. I don't see a problem with it at all, let her enjoy her new weight and confidence .

It's a hard thing to judge because we're not in the public eye so we don't get hundreds of tweets or reports on our weight but at the same time I think she shouldn't have done it. A woman's body constantly changes throughout her life, esp after having children. Carnie Wilson did the gastric surgery, she lost weight and gained it back again and then some. Sadly, most people do. I think @lone6718 is right, it's a lifestyle change and support and she probably didn't have the support she needed.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy because in the end its your body and whatever you do to yourself doesnt harm others. People get boob jobs, nose jobs, lipo and botox all the time, people diet to a size 2 or gain to a size 14. Do what makes you feel happy and confident.

well said! it's your right to comment, and you didn't say anything that was cruel or isn't true....it's not like she was 500 lbs and needed a little extra boost to help her kick start the weight loss, she was just being plain lazy. there are people that are a lot heavier than her that don't go thru those extremes to lose weight and do it the natural way.

if your not overweight than you dont know what the everyday life of an overweight person so it was not a cop out like what most people think

Its disgusting how Lauren wanted to lose weight because she was worried about what other people thought. She didn't look like she NEEDED to get the lap band...I feel like she was just being a lazy ass and she didn't want to do the hard work to get in shape. I hate when people say that they tried 'everything" its not about trying everything, its about how consistent you are with your diet, seeing it through, and not quitting just because you aren't losing 10 lbs per week. unbelievable.

you're right its not easy for everyone, but its doable even without lap band. She said it herself she was tired of everyone saying that her brothers were good looking and she wasn't. She set the wheels in motion to be criticized by making that statement.

It was sooo disturbing and it was kind of like Caroline just let Lauren hang there feeling gross about herself. I have an overweight niece and yes I tell her kindly and lovingly that she'll more energetic and lively when she starts eating healthier, I never use words like "overweight, fat, etc.". Caroline just was like, whatever.

Women w/ PCOS & diabetes have a much more difficult time losing weight, but they still do it, even if it takes longer. Lauren & Caroline went to the doctor to have Lauren tested to see if there was a reason she wasn't losing weight & the doctor told her that there is nothing wrong w/ her. I think Lauren was just getting impatient & she wanted to be skinny already. Her parents & brothers are thin & I totally think that she felt like the black sheep of the family being the only fat one.

Lauren did NOT try everything. Every scene we saw with her is her stuffing her face with some pizza or lasagna. Instead of porking your face with fatty foods, get on a treadmill and work. I'm 16 and i have more motivation than her. Working out is never easy, but if you put effort into it, you will have results.

We need to stop judging. If someone wants to do something to feel better let them. Look at all the woman now who have implants. They wanted to feel better and now its executable. Who cares what people do? Also when ur over weight u can get all sorts of medical issues. High blood pressure, become diabetic, ur joints hurt , etc. Maybe u don't have any of these things? Keep gaining and u will.

OMG this is shocking. I didn't know she had that surgery. I thought she was losing weight on her own with diet and exercise. This is a surprise because she wasn't even nearby fat before or at least enough to get that surgery.

it was one hundred percent obvious that she didnt stay commited. she didnt try everything. she wasnt commited. she said in the like the most recent episode "you know its hard, theres a yummy peice of pizza... mmm." or like some sandwhich with meatballs and she ate it. shes just lazy. -.-

Laziness, pure laziness. You don't need surgery....I weighed 270 six months ago. I changed my life style and am eating better and have lost 45 lbs by 1. closing my mouth more, and 2. getting off my ass more. I have more to go but I know I will do it...and not the lazy way either.

when your not overweight or categorized as obese then you dont know what a struggle it really is to loose weight so its not being lazy because you still have to work hard to loose the weight and eat right so its not the easy way out and she did what she had to do to get healthy again dont critcize if your not in that persons shoes.

All Lauren had to do was eat better and hit the gym.....I did and I'm down 41 pounds!!! Smh....

Lost of people read Caroline to filth for this but I think she saw her daughter was hurting with her body image, though I admit that her delivery is all wrong

oh god, lisa lampanelli probably got befriended with caroline just because she hates on teresa and wants to strengthen the Tre-hate campaign by joinin forces with caroline. Same goal for the friendship from caroline's point of view of course

I didn't even realize you could get that type of surgery when you only have 50 pounds to lose. With proper diet and exercise, there's no reason why she couldn't have done that on her own- especially with having the money for a nutritionist and a trainer. Losing weight for good requires a change in lifestyle. When you rely on a miracle surgery to do the work for you, it's only a matter of time before your old habits catch up with you.

she's got more of her dad's shape.

We only see a second of the life they live. How can you say she never did that? how do you know what happens off camera? or what was cut out? Lauren was unhappy about her weight so why should Caroline not talk about the reason why? I wish my mother had been able to talk to me about my big butt.

I think Lauren wouldnt be so self conscious about her weight if it wasnt for her family...

Lauren is lazy, plain and simple. She didn't have 100 pounds to lose. She could've lost the weight by joining a gym, taking pilates classes, doing kickboxing, etc in addition to eating a sensible diet. Seeing her starve herself on TV was pathetic and irresponsible to promote. She didn't even try hard, she just complained and complained and then gave in to the lap band. And yes, I do have a right to judge as I've lost 115 pounds myself and more importantly, I enjoy exercising and living healthy.

Previously appreciated her largely bc she was secure woman and we are often intended to be not slaves to pop magazines showing 105 lb women. Lost that bit of respect.

i think it's evident on the show that lauren is lazy as hell. she wasn't even THAT big.. seriously, if she was consistent with exercise and ate a calorie deficit for even a few months, she would have probably looked how she does now or even smaller. having that done to your body at 23 is really sad and ridiculous and stupid.

Still have to work hard? Lol. Yeah I've been in 'that position' n I lost 70 lbs the normal way. Diet n exercise.

I'm so over that entire family! Do what the rest of of do and hit the damn gym. She is lazy and her parents spoil her. She's in her early 20s and can definitely workout. This is sad.

The gastric band surgery won't solve her emotional connections to food. She'll probably gain all the weight back plus more over time.

I totally agree with teresa lauren getting lap band or whatever in her 20s is just total laziness... Lauren has no kids shes not married.. I don't even think she has a job and doesn't she still live at home with her mom ? What exactly does lauren do why she doesn't have time to take her ass to hire a trainer and take her ass to the gym like everybody else ? I'm sorry just my opinion
