The America I fell in love with...God Bless! I remember falling on my A** when I first heard the soundtrack on a lowly cassette tape... The sound was so good, the songs even better... I did not know there was a documentary to accompany the tracks, and what a documentary, just wonderful. THANK YOU.

Had this on VHS and wish it was released as a DVD. So stunning and moving. The pairings seemed bizarre before I heard them, but they absolutely work so beautifully. These are true American Masters. Bravo to everyone involved.

Thank you so very, very, very, much for sharing this absolute music treat, and a music history lesson all wrapped up in this most enjoyable manner. What a roster of talent, and the duos are simply too sublime to believe. Thank you so much for posting this amazing documentary in it's entirety. Bless you so much! ( Incidentally, I've had the cd of this ever since it came out in 1994, on MCA Records. It's one of the absolute Best Cds I own, and that says an awful lot!!

"It is a tale of two cities -- Memphis and Nashville." 200 miles apart, in the same state: Start with that. This is, essentially, an infomercial for one of the greatest American Music CDs ever produced, "Rhythm, Country, and Blues," conceived of, and produced by, the inspired Don Was. Most of the tracks are on RU-vid, seek them out they're worth it, but don't miss the point of the overriding message of this (in spite of itself) important documentary: American Music addresses Universal Truths... This is why the rest of Planet Earth responds to, studies, and emulates what we do... And "Soul" gots nothin' to do with "Race." (Rufus Thomas' inserted comments are priceless, and wise.)

Check out - What a Time by The Bucks & Ron Kavana - When eviction and the famine packed the ships that sailed from Cork They were bound for Ellis Island in the harbour of New York This new world, this land of plenty, must have seemed so very strange But they had their fiddles, pipes and songs to help them through the change. What a time it must have been When the century had turned And all the music came together In the brave new world

Blues and Country sound different from each other, and the same goes for a black and a white singer. Why is that so? This movie is very nice and the album is great, but the movie does not answer these central questions.
