As a former radio dj, musician, and record collector, I have always been drawn back to the jazz, blues and Rhythm music of the 40S & 50S. It just seems so pure & heartfelt.
Please do not. This girl is young and dumb and is oversimplifying a lot, there is a lot of context and needed detail missing. Sad you watched this and thought it was material for a classroom.
very nice video but not completely true. There was still a lot of racism within the music industry and many black songwriters didn’t get royalties or the fame and credit that white musicians did
@ BROOK ROCK AND ROLL AT FIRST WAS NOT AN AMALGAMATION OF BLACK AND WHITE MUSIC. IN THE 1940'S BLACKS NOT ONLY ROCKED THE MUSIC THEY PLAYED THE WERE THE TERMINOLOGY ROCK AND ROLL ROCKING AND ROCK,NOT JUST FOR SEX OR DANCING OR MERRYMAKING, BAND LEADERS WOULD THEIR BANDS TO ROCK, WHITE RECORD REVIEWERS OF THE TIME WOULD REVIEW THIS MUSIC BY BLACK ARTISTS AND OFTEN USE THE PHRASE ROCK AND ROLL TO DESCRIBE IT. A GOOD CASE AND POINT CALEDONIA BY ERSKINE HAWKINS LABELED RIGHT RHYTHMIC ROCK AND ROLL MUSIC BY MAURIE ORODENKER IN 1945. AND IT WAS UPTEMPO RHYTHM AND BLUES ALAN FREED LABELED ROCK AND ROLL NO LATER THAN 1951. YOU CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY, AND HISTORY WILL ALWAYS SHOW THAT THE FIRST STYLE OF MUSIC TO BE CALLED ROCK AND ROLL WAS BY BLACKS.
