This level is what separates people who rely on visual cues from those who have a true sense of rhythm.

One day some group of around 100 people are going to do this in real life, and it will be glorious.

Now I want that a group of about 100 people do the Lockstep perfectly in real life.

The Earth was peaceful...but everything changed, when the Lockstep nation attacked. People would cower in fear at the sound of their marching footsteps, their movements which were unnatural, and for some strange reason, projected the image of a man in the sky, acting as their signal of forthcoming.

I love how in any video of Lockstep or a video of a remix that features Lockstep the bitrate dies when it reaches Lockstep

I LOVE LOCKSTEP. It's honestly one of my favorites. It's not too hard and it actually tests your rhythm while putting a spin on it at the same time. This mini game actually taught me how to look for offbeats in songs and how to switch and follow them. It also made me appreciate and notice when a song's main beat switches to the offbeat (example: viva la vida by Coldplay). It just gave me a higher understanding of music and rhythm as a whole :)

I love when the song changes around 0:56. The transition to Bach's face and how pleasant sounding the music feels almost feels so peaceful and pleasant with bach there. I feel so great with him there making me feel so tranquil thank you

Rhythm Heaven is one of those things that seems super easy to an onlooker, but is WAY harder than it looks... You wouldn't believe how tough it is just switching between the beat and offbeat.

As a lifelong drummer, I never even realized people thought this one was hard. It's one of the easiest ones for me lmao it's just keeping a beat

I remember being so incredibly bad at lockstep, it took me about 39 tries before I realised you had to switch your rhytm when the man was announcing it, and pay no attention to the screen. Then it became my favourite game

So I'm the section leader of the second violins in my school's orchestra, and I completely credit hours and hours of practicing this game to my ability to play on the back beat so well.

I couldn't pass this or Lockstep 2 until I finished Remix 10. To move into offbeat, just follow when he says, 'HI HI HI HA HA!'

My Review: I LOVE Lockstep. The music is full of energy, and it's extremely pleasing to listen to. I love the song in this level. The game is simple and fun, it's really easy, and it's just amazing in every way. 10/10 Hai hai hai AHA!

All those years of playing offbeats in marches for middle school band really prepared me for this mini game

This one has some of the coolest, most innovative visual design in the entire series - which is why it's such a shame that the only way I can consistently perfect it is by closing my eyes...

Ah, Lockstep. A very simple minigame, to be honest, but definitely the hardest of the original 24 to get down the pattern of. And I loved the text you get for perfecting it, definitely gave me a deeper understanding of rhythm.

I wish the "perfect" videos for these on youtube were actually perfect...Like maybe you got a perfect score but the beat is noticably off..

This is basically a skill gate. Unlike most of the minigames, Lockstep constantly changes the rhythm pattern from the usual beat to a backbeat. It looks simple, but in practice it's hell, since the backbeat has a different tempo and beat. It requires you to learn how to quickly switch from two different rhythm patterns. But again, once you figure the trick out, I heard it's pretty simple.

Once I got the hang of it, this was actually one of my faves!!

I love how after it starts it just gets progressivly more low-res the longer ur looking at it

Due to the fact that I was once a drummer in my school's ensemble, I thought my rhythm was good, but this convinced me otherwise Edit: I think it’s just the speed that I’m not used to (I can do the practice with no problem)

I should probably get help, but slapping someone in the face to this sounds incredibly funny to me, even swapping what direction I'm slapping based on the beat.

I only just played Rhythm Heaven for the first time today and I got my first perfect in Lockstep! It's such a fun rhythm

This is one of those games where it makes you desperate for perfect, the song is so good!

It took me forever to figure out how to do this one. Once I figured it out it became one of my favorite ones to play.

I simply don't know how people can switch beats so quickly like this, this is definitely why I'm not in a marching band Or maybe I just don't know how to go off beat idk

Fun fact: They got multiple "barely"s, but they count towards a perfect in this stage.

This minigame was horror for me at first, but then, one day, I nailed it and nailed it ever subsequent times... I still don't get how it works

Switching between the on beat and the off beat as a person who's vaguely familiar with music theory and music playing really challenged me in a way I really needed at the time.

It only took me two attempts to get a superb on this minigame. Honestly, the ONE thing that bothers me halfway through this song is the visuals. They hurt my eyes.
