Every time I see this in cockpit videos it just blows me away how far away the display line is from the actual crowd. What's wrong with a fast, flat pass along the crowdline!?
@@HooltMan don't be silly. I challenge you to find me one example of an airshow crash where a flat flypast over the crowd would cause any issue whatsoever. I fully accept that aerobatics should be kept within the airfield boundary and no closer than the runway - but the current display lines are absurd.
Considering how unsafe it would be if anything were to go wrong, engine failure, hydraulics, electrics whatever it maybe you would have a very fast and uncontrollable jet flying over thousands of people at a low altitude at great speed. It's just not possible. The Red Arrows jets would whip over your head on the beach at the Sunderland air show as they flew to rejoin but as for fast jets over a crowd I'll never happen and rightly so.
