You are incredible! I literally did the first exercise for one set of 10 reps and I did the 2nd for about a minute before I felt a little movement in my left flared rib. No pain or anything. I immediately checked it out in the mirror and I was startled to see it’s been fixed! Thanks!
@@__Asabae__4915 It's really individual. Start out small, being very mindful of your body and breath. For some people it takes just a few repetitions to notice a difference, for others it requires more practice. We're all unique in our body makeup and response.
Day 1:This really helped a lot I definitely noticed a difference the second I did this ☺️ I’ll update everyday to show progress Day 1: not bad no difference yet Day2:it felt more normal and not stick out so much Day3:no difference yet Day 4: I see a difference and I ended up trying to slim my waist more to see if it can change Day 5: I see a huge difference from day one though it still sticks out a bit I should recommend doing upper abs workouts for this to see if there is any difference so I’ll update tomorrow
Fantastic explanation of rib flare ... yes, I am guilty of hyper extending. Your two exercises helping extremely ... will incorporate into my daily routine!!
Thanks for this.. I'll try these exercises. My pilates instructor keeps telling me to "close the ribs", but I just can't process that into an actual instruction I can give my body.
I’m so excited to try this! I am hypermobile and have lax ligaments. I started an at home pilates program for hypermobility a little over a month ago to help with hypermobility in general, but I’m having a lot of trouble with rib flare. When the directions are to “keep your ribs down” or “soften your rib cage to the floor” (when on your back) I really struggle. So excited to find a video that addresses rib flare specifically and can’t wait to work in these exercises!! Thank you!
Aalekh, if say your upper traps are hyperactive on the right, try a side bending stretch seated. Hold the bottom/side edge of your chair with your right hand to stabilize that side, then lean your left ear toward your left shoulder, rotate your nose toward your armpit and slowly nod your head like your saying yes. This is a wonderful stretch and myofascial release for those overactive muscles and their surrounding fascia. Go slowly and breathe. All the best!
Alex, I would actually make an appointment to see a physical therapist, preferably one that specializes in scoliosis. Each case is very unique and it's not something I would advise a person with online without seeing and evaluating them.
I'm one and not proud of it. I've heard this condition is cause as well by a tight lat, maybe a tight diaphragm and weak abs. The techniques you're doing seem to strengthen the right muscles.
My right rib cage sticks out more than the left but i don't think i have scoliosis because my shoulders look normal. I started to notice it like 2 months ago after a workout i got a hit to my rib cage. It sometimes hurts my back. But most of the time no pain. It mostly hurts when I sleep in an uncomfortable position
Guys turns out i had mild scoliosis 😂😂 but now it's going away as I'm seeing a professional doctor who makes me do exercises for scoliosis so no worries
Mine seem to be the same way. I’m 34 and they “developed” when I was around 11. I’m 5’4” with extremely long legs and a torso the shape of a foetus. I think they literally can’t fit in my little body.
I have a very slight rib flare as a 15 year old. Almost unnoticeable on the left side, bottom rib cage. Would doing exercises favouring one side put my ribs back in place?
I'm 14 and my rib flare is insane. So far nothing has helped in the slightest. I legit cry about this all the time because my rib cage is so massive and I just hate it! It makes me so insecure and nothing is helping.
@@gtrrohit5078 gurl same. I like developed it recently and I don’t know mine is like uncomfortable or something. Do you feel that way or does it not bother u at all
Oh I have questions! I have been dealing with my left rib cage protruding for a year and has increasingly become more painful. The doctors have done a ton of tests all to show nothing. Ct scans, xrays, ultrasounds, labs, mammogram, lung function test. This hurts to lay down, sit down and sometimes standing. They tried PT it put me in ER from the pain it caused. They also did 2 injections of some numbing meds in my left shoulder blade. Did nothing for my ribs. No doctor has mentioned a rib flare, only saying yeah i feel it , it's your ribs lol I was in a major car wreck in 2012 that injured my chest from the seat belt and air bag Idk if that would cause it. But it did disable me so poor posture is definitely a problem as I am extremely limited to exercise. Currently they say only walk. Any ideas?
@@drewfit826 None at all. Learning to live with it I guess. I watch how I move and lay or sit to limit pain. And I can't pick up my grandbabies which is the worst and haven't been able to wear a bra in over a year which also stinks lol but They've given me no options or help.
@@kbh4bratz yeah no problem! I always like to check up on people and I think it is important to see how others are doing. I do know for a fact that chest problems can lead to rib problems, such as Pectus excavatum but this might not be your case. Poor posture and bad breathing can do a number too like you’ve said. If I were you I would try breathing through your stomach and use your diaphragm (correct breathing). I know your situation is painful but try to be in the best posture position possible for that can maybe work on your mobility. You probably already know this lol... also I’d go on walks like your doctor said and that might be able to get a little bit of mobility back as well tho may take time. I’m assuming you’ve tried a chiropractor but if not maybe they might can do something, It has worked for a lot of people. I feel bad because I’m for sure you’ve probably tried this or heard this advice. I’d look into Costochondritis too, this is a condition doctors cannot tell by scans. You seem pretty positive, don’t settle!
@@drewfit826 I've had a ER doctor say it was costochondritis but then the next one say no it wasn't lol I did try chiro and osteopathy. They have all basically said they can't do anything else for me. My doctors last attempt was sending me to my Rheumatologist . I appreciate your advice and will definitely look into breathing techniques. Ty
I just found out at 31 years old that I have a large rib cage, not because of birth, but because of breathing incorrectly :( anyone do these exercises and get their diaphragm stronger / rib flare reduced?
I have this as well as long ribs.. can I get narrow ribs? I also have misalignment that might keep me from being in the right place where I might could have had my breathing work-out and modify the area throughout my years as I lived and grew..
Does anyone else had this and have had clothes (bra and high waisted jeans especially) that fit one week and other week don’t. Even in the one day it can change from comfortable to I have to take them out right now. I am 2 weeks from work because the rib flare is just to bad.
That’s how I got mine too. I didn’t even realize this was a thing. None of the other girls I cheered with ever had this problem, I thought it was just my body. It’s comforting to know the cause and ways to fix
I’ve had a flared ribcage for a long time, since I was probably 8 or sum was when my family noticed it (I’m 16 now). I didn’t really pay attention to it or care. I didn’t have pain but now I really want it to go away. My best advice to you is figure out what’s causing it first, then it’ll be easier to know what will work for you. There are many different causes such as genetics, bad breathing, and poor posture. Make sure to breath using your stomach and involve your diaphragm... also work on a straight/good posture. The best advice though if you have it because of genetics (like me) is to train and workout your abs. That will strengthen your muscles around your ribs and move everything into place.
Veronica at 12 yrs old you're at a vulnerable age for your self-esteem and self-image. Please don't judge yourself or put yourself down. Just practice good postural awareness, having relaxed ribs in good posture and practicing the exercises I demonstrate in the video. All the best to you.
I want to fix my rib flare ( narrow) , due to over force neck traction changing flame ( up with spine), Chir doctor can not help me, even I spent $3000 for 6 weeks. I often feel my rib cage with tissus pulled up, and breathing is difficulty
One or two times a day is good, to help reinforce a new pattern of movement awareness. Pick an amount that you feel you can be consistent with. I don't want you to be discouraged if you start high and can't maintain that. The main goal is changing the way you hold yourself and move to be more efficient and in healthy alignment. Each one of you is unique and you will have different requirements of repetition to embody a new way of being in your body.
