Is the purpose of tapping on the fiber holder when it’s on the cleaver to get the fibers to lay flat?

Yes exactly sometimes they like to over lap a bit so the tapping helps get them separate to ensure a quality clean Cleve

Mine came with my splice machine but you can get replacement ones they are called V groove brushes and shop.fiberoptic.com sells them for around $25. Thanks for watching glad to hear you enjoy the videos and are learning lots from them. This was my main reason for starting the channel was to teach and spread knowledge on how to do quality work and help as many people as possible 🙌
