Actually, it was released in 1990. It was on an album called, "Nobody's Child." It was a charity album done to benefit the Romanian Angel Appeal. It was also the first release of, "Civil War" by Guns N Roses. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobody%27s_Child:_Romanian_Angel_Appeal
No doubt unreleased because this shows Ric's warm and sweet side! It's really too bad because this is really a great song! He has at least 8 kids, so really it's no wonder he wrote it!!! Still love Ric and all his songs!!!
I've read that he has ten sons, while Wikipedia says he has six. We can thank John and Yoko Ono Lennon for starting this trend. "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" begins with Yoko whispering "Happy Christmas, Kyoko" and John following up with "Happy Christmas, Julian". Both children from their previous marriages. But John wrote the ultimate tribute to a child with "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)", which ends with John finally naming the boy: "Darling Sean". The song never fails to make me weep. Impossible to top that song for the love and devotion in every single second of it, but god bless Ric for trying. He's said to be quite the family man now that he's off the rock-star treadmill. You can't really be both things at once.
I've tried to transcribe it real quick: Goodnight, little one Time to turn the light Sometimes life gets hard to play Deepest fears won't go away Goodnight, little one It's time to close your eyes Soon the morning, it will break Another day to give and take So sleep 'til the morning Tomorrow is a gift Sleep tight without warning 'Til the drawbridges lift Or the midnight shift Goodnight, little one When you're fast asleep World is rushin' on the road (run?) Someone's playin' with their gun ( I wonder about these two lines...) So sleep 'til the morning Tomorrow is a gift Sleep tight without warning 'Til the drawbridges lift Or the midnight shift Goodnight, little one You have to get some sleep Well, goodnight, little one Have to say goodnight Like to keep you soft and warm Keep you sheltered from that storm So sleep 'til the morning Tomorrow is a gift Sleep tight without warning 'Til the drawbridges lift Or the midnight shift So goodnight, little one It's time to turn the lights Like to keep you soft and warm Keep you sheltered from that storm Goodnight, little one It's time to close your eyes Soon the morning, it will break Another day to give and take Well goodnight, little one It's time to say goodnight Like to keep you soft and warm Keep you sheltered from that storm Little one, Goodnight.
