I bought this vacuum a couple days ago and honestly best decision I've made regarding cleaning equipment in a long time. Not only did it outperform every other vacuum I've ever owned, the house just smelled and felt better, the air quality was greatly improved. We have a golden retriever and the first thing I noticed was how well this vacuum picked up all the dog hair and like the video shows it just sucks in dog hair from at least a foot away from where your vacuuming so super efficient and satisfying to watch. My son who has allergies was helping me vacuum and of course wanting to adjust the power setting on the canister so he was very close to the fan - he didn't sneeze once and hasn't sneezed since we vacuumed. Every time after I used another vacuum like eureka or Dyson or shark, he would sneeze. Again simple but satisfying test for a dad.
We are really happy to hear this! It sounds crazy but vacuuming with allergies can be a nightmare. The high filtration on Riccar's will continue to keep your home dust free. Happy vacuuming!
This is a great video! I wish they would’ve seen it when I got my Richard Prima a few years ago. I looked through the book and didn’t get as much information out of it as you have given me today. Thank you for this video! We have hardwood and tile throughout our upper level and two bedrooms with carpet. And I’m always looking for a way to clean the hardwood with the cleaner that was recommended for it, Bruce. Our home is an older style ranch so it’s not huge by any means. And the hardwood in the living room is mostly covered by a big fluffy area rug. The vacuum makes the rug look great every single time I use it. I wasn’t sure how to use the other attachments and now I am thank you so much! 0:45
🤣🤣 it doesn’t take a vacuum cleaner scientist to see what just happened here 😃😃 thanks for the thorough review. I own a Riccar Prima 4T canister- great buy. Thanks again!
Hello Josh. Thank you for the videos. Can you tell me which vacuum you like more? I'm between the Riccar Prima canister and a Sebo D4 or maybe an E series canister. I have mostly hard woods with a couple area rugs. Thanks so much!
We don't have any comparisons videos like that because the Riccar Prima is actually discontinued at the moment. While parts and supplies are still readily available (and likely will always be) few places have any remaining prima stock to sell. We do have a video coming that compares the Sebo D4 to the E3 though.
Does the Tandem Air canister have a true direct air motor in the *power nozzle* (airflow-generating fan, like a Kirby or Sanitaire)? Or is does the motor in the power nozzle only power the brush roll?
Yes, like it's sibling the R40 and R30 these machines use both a clean air and direct air motor. In the uprights the motors are stacked in the machine. In the canisters the clean air resides in the canister as is typical and the direct air is in the head. If you look closely you will see that the Prima tandem uses the same head housing as the Riccar R17 ultralight upright. Essentially you are seeing two vacuums working in tandem with the prima tandem. There is a demonstration which uses poof balls to show the powerhead motor moving air independently of the canister. We might add that to our video list of upcoming videos.
This really is my dream machine 😍. I’ve only ever used canisters and find uprights to be so cumbersome and inept. The only thing giving me pause is the bag. I have a dyson bag less canister and I have to empty it after every use due to pet hair. It’s full every time! It just seems like bags are such a waste. Is riccar likely to make a bag less version? Or, convince me that going through 3 vacuum bags every week isn’t an astonishing expense and waste.
Hey there, that is a common question! What you might not know is that modern bags fit roughly 10-12 lbs of dirt. That is equivalent to roughly 64 Dyson canisters! Most people with Riccar's specifically change their bags about once every two months. Plus bags provide much higher filtration so both you and your vacuum motor are not exposed to all those rough dust and sand particles. That means you have a vacuum that will last you twenty years!
Would you suggest a Ricardo r40 or prima tandem air? Any difference in suction power or performance? House is more hardwood but some wall to wall carpet and rugs.
Both have advantages, what it really boils down to is personal preference. With a space that has more hardwood than carpet, the canister (Prima) can work a bit better as canisters are more versatile. The swivel of the canister head can make vacuuming bare floor super easy. However, if using a canister is too daunting to you, the upright (R40) works just as well, performance wise. It will be a touch less maneuverable, but it is designed to work on both flooring types.
Hey there, The R 40 and the Prima are actually the same vacuum just in two different forms! In order to provide the same power as the r40 but the same ease of use as the supralite's, Simplicity chose to make a canister for the the r40. They may look different and there are benefits when it comes to each, but as far as power is concerned, they are identical.
@@vacuumsrus So I just found one of the new blue colored Tandem air canisters by R I CCAR. Why did they go from two models down to one? Because I know they used to offer one with a lifetime belts, and one that had a replaceable belt.
@@JohnSmithNE3478 The model that did not have a serpentine belt was simply not popular. They actually had five models originally and now have three. The straight suction remains. The "compact power nozzle" model was absolute garbage and was discontinued. The popular full size nozzle remains. The Tandem with a rubber belt was simply not super popular because the extra hundred or so dollars to get the lifetime belt made the top end far more popular. They did however have an inventory error which led them to over order the motors that go in the rubber belt model prior to discontinuing production of it. When production has allowed they have offered those to dealers as dealer exclusives at a slight discount. This hasn't happened in over a year however as their plant is currently at least 6 weeks behind and working nearly around the clock as it is. Dealers normally package those units with a few extras and sell at a slight discount to the lifetime belt units.
@@vacuumsrus good to know! Thank you! I bought a new one from a shop that went out of business on Mercari. They said it’s unopened and it’s the blue model with the tandem air nozzle. Let’s see if that’s what I receive!
Show caution with those types of purchases for any premium appliance. Dealers are not required to service warranty claims for products that are sold from unauthorized sales channels. Products sold off channel (like ebay) or by companies that have lost their dealerships are sold as is. Riccar will buy product back from closing dealerships to keep it off the gray market so there is no reason for a "closing" store to sell off market. A deal is a deal though. If you get it for 70% off a warranty becomes less relevant. Dealers do not get paid labor to perform warranty repairs for Riccar products however so are unlikely to perform warranty repairs for gray market products.
