Good to see your son prepared you a nice chicken biryani for Father’s Day yesterday. In South Asia and South East Asia, kids are generally shooed off the kitchen to hit the books as it’s the lady of the house’s domain. I have seen my cousin shooed away her boys when they come to the kitchen to help or even watch. This was the era I grew up , my late mother is a great cook among her siblings and relatives. I knew nothing about cooking but since young at school going age I was attracted to cooking shows on tv and writing down the recipes on the show which I never tried to cook. It’s only last 12 years I have started cooking after moving away far far away from home. However, I decided to impart one greatest knowledge the passion and necessity for cooking to my son. I told this is one of the many important live skills you need to know and it will serve you well, as you do not need others to do it for you if your tummy rumbles. I am glad my son has took this advice on board and he is able to make simple meals as well as bake delicious cakes, cookies, etc. It came in handy when I was away from home for long period of time, my son cooked meals for him and his dad and kept them both well fed. My son is my sous chef . I am glad I passed this knowledge to him and so have you to your son. It’s important parents should always encourage kids from young to learn how to cook, do not discriminate by gender too, boys and girls can cook everyone can cook if they are allowed to nurture that passion. Cooking is a life skill not to be dismissed.
