If they don't like the QBs left, they shouldn't draft a QB. That's how you convince yourself to draft Bortles, Zach Wilson, etc You don't need to be in the top 3 to draft a great QB

Yes, pick a QB. Pats aren’t going anywhere until they have a good QB. Why kick the can down the road and hope you find a good QB later when you have the #3 pick now, and there’s a couple great QBs right there

Because the Patriots will ruin the next QB they take, just like they ruined Mac Jones. The Pats roster is possibly the worst roster in the entire NFL from a talent standpoint. They would certainly thrust whichever QB they draft immediately into the fire with 0 supporting cast and ruin him immediately. It would just be a waste of a high draft pick, and another 3 years of stagnation for the Pats. 3 years from now they will be again picking in the top 5 and again picking a QB, hoping for a savior for the franchise.

@@Shadowolf2609 Any time a QB is drafted in the top 3, that player is expected to play immediately. Pressure from the fans and ownership make it that way. And the fact of the matter is that the Pats have no good skill position players, and many roster holes. It doesn't matter how many coaches the Pats fire or hire, it can't change the fact that the roster is terrible and it's really a very poor environment for a rookie quarterback to develop. If you can't understand this, then I guess we can't really have a conversation with the same set of facts.

@@chickenwings69773 then i guess we are not going to be on the same side about this at all. Cant go off one really bad year and say any qb that goes to the pats will fail, not true. This is a new staff we don't know what they are good at. You want to say the pats did very wrong with mac. They did but Mac did not try also. He would over throw the ball alot, make dumb play calls, pick 6s. He was doing all that because he wanted to leave the team 1 year ago. 60% on the team at the time ya, but the other 40% was him also. With the qb talk the pats are going to make him sit a year behind Jacoby. Who said they where going to start the rookie qb. TF

Pats should take marv. Jj or daniels arent some top 8 qb in the nfl. Wasting a top 3 pick on a qb whos maybe top 12 isnt going to make us better. And oh ya, WE HAVE 0 WEAPONS AND NO O LINE. This rookie qb would be d.o.a. draft the generational wr everyone agrees is incredible and we will get a qb peolly next year when we suck again.

I mean, that should be obvious. That was the plan from the start. Mac Jones and Zappe didn't work out and the overall point of bombing our last season was to get a good draft pick. We trade it away then there really is no hope for this organization. Love Brissett but he's just not a longterm answer. He'll get you some Dubs (W) but there's not enough confidence to say he's an playoff asset

The only players i would want at 3 are Drake Maye or Marvin Harrison. In an ideal world Maye in the first and Mcconkey in the second. In the end it comes down to only Williams and Maye being worthy of a top 3 pick. Don't force a QB at 3 that isn't worthy of it, that way you get a Zach Wilson, Blake Bortles or Daniel Jones scenario.

That theory of never drafting that high again is hogwash. You fail to mention that two years prior to drafting Bledsoe with the first pick, the Patriot TRADED the 1st pick to Dallas. Trade down, gather picks, add an OT and 2 WRs, and they will likely return to the top 3, or be able to trade in, because the team will not rise above .500, and odds are the team they trade with also won't break .500. Relly bad teams with lots of holes return to the Top five of the draft. Next subject.

Good idea. Then he’ll get killed with no offensive line, will have absolutely no WRs to throw to, Mayo will be fired in 2 years, they’ll switch OCs and offensive systems a few times. Sound like anyone else? Mac jones?Justin Fields? This old way of thinking that you draft a qb first is antiquated. Teams bust QBs by not setting them up to succeed more than QBs bust themselves. Period.

The Patriots should trade down with the Raiders for Dvante Adams and then the Raiders get JJ and the Patriots get a new WR or QB to pair with Dvante and flip their offense immediately

What if the "3rd quarterback" is badly overvalued? Just because he is "third" means he's is going to succeed? What if he is third because all of the media needs something to talk about? Just what if Drake Maye is worth an 8th? And your team just wasted draft capital getting him and he like 75% of the QB's that get picked high doesn't work out? Again what if none of these over hyped college quarterbacks are worth even a third overall? How did #15 Jones do? At least the Patriots only burned a #15 on Jones.

I feel bad for whoever the Pats draft. Terrible situation for a rookie QB, almost certainly a death sentence for that rookie's career. 0 talent on roster. Whoever they pick will just become the next Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields, etc. This is what happens when a bad franchise drafts a QB high onto a terrible roster and expectsthem to be the savior without any halfway decent infrastructure.

Geno, Jalen hurts/Derek Carr are all 2nd round picks, Purdy was a 7th, Cousins and Dak were 4th Russ was a 3rd You can get qb competence out of the first round

Hurts came into a good situation backing up Wentz. Purdy came into an excellent situation with the Niners as QB3 on a stacked team. Same with Cousins and Dak. Each of those QBs had some form of talent around them and mostly backed up other starters. They’d all be mid if their teams didn’t have the talent they had early out the gates. Those teams were also winning before them. 90% of those QBs are in a weak NFC. But the pats are in a loaded AFC where they have to compete against Josh Allen and Tua for years to come who are first round QBs in their own division, Herbert, Burrow, Lamar, Stroud, Richardson, Trevor, and the King Mahomes if they want to get out of the AFC. All of those QBs are first round QBs mostly top 10. No question they need to take a first round QB
