+Angie2343 you guys are lucky. I do have Facebook. You was able to get a hold of him? Lucky stiff. I like him, Rod Roddy, and johnny olson. Those three announcers was the best. George gray on the other hand, I do not know. He said some disrespectful things about johnny and Rod that I didn't like on an interview that he did. He says that Rod and johnny did the show until they got buried in a pine box.
I remember he also had a CBS sitcom called _The Rich Fields Show_ where he played a dad of three kids with his wife played by Jane Lynch; and _Price_ host Bob Barker guest starred in an episode.
+Bryan Nguyen yeah... i loved his voice! he was perfect for this show! He also was a potential for Wheel of Fortune when Charlie O' Donnell when he passed away.
He was let go from the radio station in 2020 following massive downsizing due to the pandemic. After that, he was a weatherman for the CBS affiliate in Tampa before leaving that post in early 2023. He is now a motivational speaker, and recently released his first book which is an excellent read
@megamanfan3 there were a few other guys who auditioned after Rod passed and Rich was the third guy who had a call back and he commuted from Palm Springs where he used to be known as Chief Meteorologist Rich Fields. When Fields was about to do the weather in Palm Springs he got the call he wanted for awhile after 3 weeks test running with Mr Barker then in March of 2004 .. resigns from KPSP- As Chief Meteorologist.
Now that Mike Richards is going to Sony, the first order of business for the new TPIR producer should be to bring Rich back! Also should bring Brandi Sherwood and Roger Dobkowitz back while they're at it, and retool Hot Seat so it doesn't look like something from Let's Make a Deal.
@NintendoGeekBlog used to now he's back to being a weather man in LA for CBS2 and KCAL9 sometimes fills in for someone at K-EARTH101FM also Oscar is Right what you and everyone else is seeing right now are the season 38 repeats :(
@MegastarLV haha really??? well, that should be a step closer to getting him back because apparently petitions and phone calls are being made to make it happen...its sad that this was a dream job from him and he's now known as the only price is right announcer whose departure isn't because of death..back to drew, pre-weight loss he was that familiar witty guy from whose line but post-weight loss he seems to energetically rush through it like any old school game show host would do....
@@MatthewHendrixrockinman1 According to his new book, the executive producer at the time, Mike Richards (yes, the same one who was the new Jeopardy host for a couple of weeks before resigning), somehow coerced Fremantle executives not to renew Rich's contract for a third term which led to his dismissal as Richards wanted to take the show in a "different direction". A different story says Drew didn't even know about Rich being let go until he got back from South Africa where he was attending the 2010 World Cup
@GD29 He probably did do something defend him, but it just wasn't in the media. These not-so-great announcers are just comedians who act as announcers rather than being ones. BTW, if you're wondering why Drew isn't so funny now, I think he's resented from the fact that Rich got fired.
Thankfully Drew made Rich the announcer for his "Improv-a-Ganza" show on GSN in 2011. There's an episode where Rich does a game of Sound Effects alongside Steve Kamer from "Inside Edition", it's freaking hilarious
@MegastarLV and drew carey did nothing to defend him? shows how much he thought of rich....they say they wanted announcers with improv comedy experience so im thinking this season was going to be whose line and price is right mushed together but all ive seen so far is not-so-great announcers just doing what they were mostly hired to do: announce prizes and contestants....rarely do i hear some quirky one-liner coming from them....also, is it just me or did drew seem funnier when he was fat?
Rod Roddy was an awesome announcer!!! But to tell you the truth, I like Rich Fields more...he has a great sense of humor, and he makes many people laugh...and his laugh is funny as well :)
