The two co-defendant’s parents complaining like they were victims of injustice is hilarious. They are the ones who gunned an innocent man down, they deserve to fry. The only thing I think should have been done differently is Cameron should have fried to. But for the parents to try and blame him for their son’s actions is mind numbingly stupid, they need to accept that they just failed as parents.

People are overlooking the fact that in California adults over 18 are allowed to bail out and juveniles are not. that's why Cameron was allowed to bail out and since he was not the shooter he was able to beat the case by convincing them that he didn't know what was going to happen which is actually pretty common in California

He was a rich white boy that was bored with his life and was wanting to see what it was like to be brought up in the hood. They should have let him see what it was like, and left his ass in jail and let a public defender take his case only then he would realize what being from the hood was all about. This just popped up on my feed. I moved to that hood in ‘92 from New Jersey with my single parent father. My grandpa was an original guy in that hood (literally the first black person to purchase his home in cash on 95th street in the 50s or 60s). I used to swim at Jesse Owens with the all black swim teams and would get picked up and dropped off there after jr guards. I recall my father once finding tagging drawings of mine when I was around 8 almost 9 and he was like “are you in a gang?!” I wasn’t but could have easily been. But I had skipped two grades by that point and got to go to “better” schools and well, I am now a dual Canadian citizen as of 2022. I know Jasmyne from my early days when I started djing in 2003. It was good to see her face. I left LA 2014 but thanks for sharing this story. I definitely claim privilege and was raised “white” in many ways so I, too have not fallen into juvi and such but again, I wasn’t far off. There’s so much injustice. That hood taught me a lot and I will have all the respect for it forever. Peace ✌🏾

I think he got caught up in the friends slash homies down with me zone. It can happen to anybody, white or black, but especially if you not from the hood it could put you in this narative like the hood got my back. I think the black homies were caught up with having a white boy in the cliques for some type prestigious entitlement thinking. Dave chapelle said it himself more or less in his stand up.. Since some blacks in south l.a. grew up with odds against them, they always look for a way out or a in to something. Both Taylor i believe his name is & the blacks from the hood learned a valuable lesson. One who's not made for this street s%%t be yourself & stay in your lane. The hood homies cant cultivate anyone white or black knowing not built for this. Look what happen, the ones who did the crimes are in jail, while the other went back to where he should of been in the first. Some people say well he didnt snitch, well he didnt have to his parents had $ to take care of him.None of this wouldnt of happen if everyone stayed in their lanes and do something productive in their lives & the neighborhoods.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Justin, his family, and his friends. He had the absolute right to walk down any street without being murdered by a bunch of thugs. As I said in my original comment, Cameron DESERVES to be in prison for the rest of his life, alongside the 2 other defendants. I guess he really wasn’t a Crip after all, because he dropped that persona the second he was arrested for Justin’s murder. Cameron wanted to play the badass gang banger, but he sure in the Hell didn’t want to pay the price for it. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, his parents are at fault for spoiling him, and not having any consequences for his bad decisions and behaviors. They made damn sure that he got the best defense lawyer that money could buy, and he left his buddies to take the fall since their parents didn’t have the money to get them the best defense lawyers. So, shame on his parents for spoiling him rotten, and not having any consequences for what he had done! I can only hope that Justin’s family sues the living shit out of his parents!

This has nothing to do with race, and only SLIGHTLY to do with money. The only reason money even plays a role is, his family was able to hire a really good, but expense lawyer. He was also the get away driver, not one of the shooters. That's what the REAL difference between their cases is. While I agree he more than likely knew what was going to happen, it wasn't PROVEN beyond reasonable doubt that he knew in court. That's how the system works. You can't change the rules on a case by case basis, especially based on somebody's financial status, or where they're from. Seriously, imagine if it were for a second. If he were a black man, in the same exact situation, and he was found guilty, people would be crying racism over that, and arguing everything I just stated, and more.

Dysfunction in a household when a child is in their formative years definitely has a negative impact on any kid, some more than others. For example, I grew up middle class but my parents divorce mixed with some mental health struggles led me into addiction which in turn put me in the streets and and having to experience all the negatives that come with that. I almost blew an unbelievable opportunity. When I was 20 or so I got in some serious legal trouble and i am certain that had my family not helped me retain a very good lawyer and I took a public defender I would have ended up in jail for that instance. Sad but that’s the way it works and any parent is going to do whatever they can to help their child..

A rich black man has more in common with a rich white man than some dude from the projects
@leileyaravencroft
@leileyaravencroft Месяц назад
This is a problem that too many people ignore. Of course, there are cases where yes, a person’s race can be a factor but the biggest problem is absolutely about class. I know of a few cases that does show painfully that a person’s class will most likely cause severe discrimination. One such case was a white girl being straight up snatched from inside her car in front of her house. Her parents found her car with the driver side door wide open, keys in the ignition, her cell phone and purse on the passenger seat and her right shoe turned on its side by the driver side door. And when they did what ever parent will do in that situation and called the cops, the cops labeled her case a runaway. No joke. They saw everything I just described and labeled her a runaway and did nothing for a solid week. And here’s the kicker, the house she lived in can only be described as looking like a long box. When they showed footage of her parents, it was obvious that they were far from wealthy. That seventeen year old who was just about to testify about a man who assaulted her (yes, the cops knew this too) and she was obviously kidnapped, was labeled a run away. I am actually surprised they managed to solve the case, though it did take a few years because if they waited a full week to even begin a half-hearted search for her, the case could have gone ice cold and be another statistic in unsolved disappearances. (She was later found unalived). An obvious situation of how cops view the less fortunate. Oh, and in case it was forgotten: the family was white. She was blond haired, blue eyed, and was actually working a job to help her parents.

I remember before the first day of school and getting a flyer that specifically talked about what clothes were allowed and Red, Blue, and Brown was a big no on the list. I can only remember one incident where the two rival LA gangs were in the same place and actually got along fairly okay and that was Michael Jackson’s Beat It video. From my understanding the director wanted to get real gangs involved and approached them. Of course, they said no until he mentioned it was for a Michael Jackson video. That was pretty legendary.

when you want for nothing, those privileges mean less and less believe it or not. its hard to comprehend for people that have always struggled and were born into lives where shootings and violence are common place. When you grow up wealthy, vacations to the beach and World Series tickets just don't feed that beast within. If this wasn't his path then hands down he catches a rape case or kills some kid from his school within 2 years. It's why people with great power almost always abuse it and do things that seem insane to us. It's not an excuse for his behavior but imagine being a scrawny white kid that is accepted into that culture to the level he was. he wasn't put on by other wanna be white kids playin gangster, he wore the colors in the daytime in the middle of the jungle and was never touched. 99/100 scenarios lead to this kid being found naked and cold somewhere near that park but for whatever reason, he beat the odds. if they never linked these guys to this case, he pulls the trigger on the next one 100%.
