Valuable lesson, but IMHO it is one path to the sound, and only in addition to other factors, e.g. pressure, sounding point, etc. - to create and craft the sound for how one might interpret the innate experience and narrative of the music.
@@nainposteur55 SHOULD be implied. But often the music is adjusted to the tools and the aesthetic and expressive soul of the music is non-existent. Also, if we are talking about tools- don't forget the left hand, and I don't just mean facility and articulation but also vibrato, e.g/, how it can affect the bow sympathetically, and how it can and should be used to create intensity and transparency, expressively like a great vocalist might. These are a palette or tools, but there is also a narrative and world in which it exists.
