What I see is a man who had the courage to look inside himself to find something he felt was missing. It's a hard thing to do as you may not like what you discover about yourself. He has obviously found what he was looking for or we wouldn't have seen any changes in him or his music. " I destroyed my ego to make this space.....". That sentence speaks volumes. Reading the comments here i feel that i agree with half of what people say and the other half of says well he's moved on,grown and trying something different,sometimes it just doesn't work.Being a massive verve and ashcroft fan his new music doesn't seem to touch me like his earlier work with the verve and his solo projects but saying that he's doing what he wants which is important.If anyone listens to urban hymns it was when he was going through really bad depression i guess he's happy now

Don't get all the negative comments about this song and video, I think both are excellent, love the vibe and message, reborn does not have to pertain to a Christian rebirth and even if that is what Richard means here I don't see what the fuck that has to do with any one else.

What's gone wrong with this project - lyrics (English ain't my first language)? Cause the music feels alright.Tbh, I liked it better than Ashcroft's post-Urban Hymns stuff.

Notice the reference to Venus in the lyrics, and he often refers to God in the feminine. His lyrics have always been about searching for something with meaning.
