He is a poet, a musician, and a genius. There are no warts on this man. On par with Noel Gallagher as a songwriter. This is what REAL music is all about. Totally inspirational, Richard. Verve early music was amazing but you can basically put that ALL down to nick mccabe the guitarist, he’s the ne that made the real music in the band. David Brown I think releasing a 2nd Album so soon after the last one was a mistake, but his Ego isn't writing cheques his body can't cash, in the USA he always speaks political stuff on stage, I'm just suprised he did it in this interview. Elites don't like Woke people, if he carries on doing these sort of interviews his music won't be played, Regardless of it being uninspiring or great.

How can you go from pushing the envelope musically from the likes of A NorthernSoul, Already There, Catching The Butterfly etc...to surprised by the joy, etc. McCabe & Jones post Verve band Black Submarine’s album New Shores is creatively and sonically light years ahead of anything Ashcroft has done in his entire solo career. Listen to their track “together” or “The Love In Me”...McCabe was the maestro and musical wizard in that band. As great a frontman Richard is, he’s left wanting without those 3 guys (McCabe/Jones & Salisbury). His ego destroyed that band. Half of the stuff on their comeback album Forth was truly awful, I See Houses Etc. Then look at the plethora of incredible McCabe inspired tracks left off the album (Blue Pacific Ocean, Ma Ma Soul etc), Ashcroft insisted his acoustic drudgery took precedence over any band constructed material. Sad stuff as they could have written some incredible new material I have no doubt.
