In my humble opinion, one of the greatest Song Writers, performers, ever to walk God's, Green, Earth. Shame on you Andrew Loog Oldham! Money is the root of all evil! Having said that, it did not stop but only accelerated the Verve to the forefront of all music loving ears.

I (44 year old American) hear his American sound as he sings but not so much when he talks. Do people hear American in his speech or just singing? I like him. Good artist.
Yeah, there's a definite American lilt to Ashcroft's accent these days. Or at least in this interview - it tends to change slightly depending on where he is and who he's talking to, haha.
Hmmm. I wanted to watch an interview so i could hear his accent. While singing I can't distinguish his accent from Tom Petty for example. I'm American, I only hear a working class tinged British accent. Very soft 'T's when he says 'set out' for example. Tell me what you hear as American. Very Interesting.
