Actor Richard Belzer talks about "Hit List" May 6, 2013 at the National Press Club. The book is billed as an in-depth investigation into what some see as the mysterious deaths of people linked to the President John F. Kennedy assassination story. Belzer describes the assassination as the "greatest murder mystery" of all time" - linking the deaths of fifty people, including columnist Dorothy Kilgallen, U2 pilot Gary Powers and Jack Ruby, the man who killed Lee Harvey Oswald. Belzer also presents evidence supporting the theory that there were two Lee Harvey Oswalds and how his death was set in motion by the FBI, the CIA, and the Mob. Belzer insists there is a timeline and there are witnesses who have proved that Oswald never fired a shot the day the president was killed in Dallas.

Every ER doctor who saw JFK at Parkland stated as a simple fact that the skull was blown out at the rear, so much bone and tissue was missing that his cerebellum was in one of the doctor's hands. They also stated for the most part that he was shot from the right front and the rear was a massive exit wound. There were times after the Warren Commision that they went with the "Party Line", but eventually they mostly went back to stating their original medical observations. The two doctors at Bethesda who performed the autopsy had no experience. They had never treated or autopsied a gunshot or head wound before. They missed the throat wound because of the ER tracheotomy. Their description of the head wound sounds like they were looking at a different wound they decribed it so differently. The Navy corpsman who took the autopsy photos told the investigators from the HSCA that the photos in the the National Archives are not the pictures he took that night. Years later Doug Horne was interviewing Dino Brugioni, one of the photo interpreters who setup NPIC (the gov agency that the CIA, Defense Dept., and NSA used for photo interpretation). Watching that interview is instructive. It clearly establishes that somebody identifying themselves as FBI agents brought the 1st gen original Zapruder film in Sat night to get briefing boards made up with stills of the assassination. Then on Sun a different agent came in and got a second set of briefing boards made by a second group of techs, neither of which knew about the other. The first group had to have intercepted the film in Chicago instead of it going to Life magazine. The second agent stated that he had come to NPIC directly from the secret part of the Kodak facility in Rochester, NY. The implication is fairly obvious. They altered the film to more accurately reflect the Oswald lone assasin theory. Dino Brugioni was elderly but very lucid and clearly still in full and complete possession of all his marbles. The day of the assasination numerous police officers, every bystander near the grassy knoll either fell down to get out of the line of fire or ran up there looking for a shooter. Governor Connelly and other people in or along the motorcade said they smelled gunpowder drifting from in front of the limousine. To his death, Connelly believed there had been a shooter in that direction. These few things are a tiny fraction of what I can remember off the top of my head, about the assassination. I became convinced there was a conspiracy decades ago. The only real question is who. One thing to remember is that the CIA's own manuals on the subject say to use criminal cutouts and to create multiple layers of deniability. Castro, the Mob, or the CIA? All that was really necessary was for 2-3 disgrunted case officers acting on the orders of the ex-head of the agency, Allen Dulles, and using 4-5 of the Cuban exiles who case officer Bill Harvey had trained for the assassination of Castro. So maybe 8 or 10 individuals. Not a conspiracy involving the entire US government. The coverup afterwards is another matter. We know from the White House tapes recorded of LBJ's conversations that he was concerned that if the American people were convinced that Castro and the Russians were involved that it would result in WWIII. At least thats what he told Earl Warren to help convince him to run the investigation. So they decided early on to reach a predetermined conclusion that Oswald was a lone assassin. So many or most of those in the coverup did so out of patriotism. Then there is Jack Ruby. Convenient that he was someone who was such a good friend of the Dallas police that he'd be able to have access to Oswald. Convenient that he came down with cancer before he could go to D.C. to testify about some new allegations he had. Convenient that after journalist Dorothy Kilgallen interviewed him, and told friends that she had explosive evidence that would blow the investigation wide open, she died of an accidental overdose of alcohol and three different barbiturates. Under suspicious circumstances.

Good assessment. Was the person who took the autopsy pix a woman named Saundra Spencer? I've wondered about Judyth V. Baker's (supposed mistress of Oswald and cancer researcher) statement that she, Oswald and Ferry were involved with others in creating a "galloping" form of Cancer, & transporting it to Cuba to inject into Castro. The folly of killing Castro when his bro is waiting in the wings, is beyond me. Nonetheless...that research could have been used to kill Ruby just before his slated retrial. Killing a president is a gov't take-over, but the murders that followed and convincing real patriots that their silence would save US lives due to a Soviet plot is true evil. Our intelligence need an exorcism.

No question there was a cover up too many suspicious things, starting with secret service, they were slow to act, except for Clint Hill protecting Jackie. The driver took his time speeding up, it was like they all froze. Then the way secret service bullied the doctors to take JFK s body, which Texas law was illegal , his autopsy should have been there. I understand Johnson had to be sworn in , even in death you need a leader immediately. Amateur doctors in Washington. Every doctor on Parklands his back head was blown up. They were all told to keep their mouths shut. And they did, until it was safe to tell what happened. Because after Kennedy s death ,,a lot of people went missing, mysteriously died, especially reporter Dorothy Killigan, who was just on what’s my line. I think her death was shortly afrter the president.,Mary Meyers, there was a young lady who was in a supposed ly car accident , she was actually thrown out of car, who before she died warned people Kennedy was going to be shot. Then Ruby. And actions of Warren Commission just going through the motions to placate the public. We can’t do anything about now they are all dead. Even today the Government won’t reveal the truth. I don’t think it will ever be revealed.

Censorship on Facebook is out of control. Even the fact checkers interjecting themselves in conversations. This should be the big eye opener for serious legislation. If they’re smart, they would stop it now before there’s unintended legislation earmarks in there that they may not be happy with when it’s all said and done. Yet, they’re playing a game of chicken with the American people.

If Oswald did it, he was a helluva shot, since 7 witnesses and a motorcycle cop put him in the 2nd floor lunchroom of the Book Depository (drinking a Coke) before, during and after the shots were fired. The Depository Building manager testified that Oswald was never on the 6th floor on November 22, 1963. The FBI did a paraffin test on him and said that he hadn't fired a rifle on 11/22/63; They didn't find Oswald's finger prints on the Mannlicher Carcano either (until 3 days after the chain of evidence was broken and the FBI (w/rifle in hand) visited Lee in the funeral parlor's basement; The three cops who found "the rifle" on the 6th floor said it was definitely a Mauser (until they were "talked to" by their superiors and decided they were mistaken). Biggest Red Flag for me, aside from a mob hit man killing Oswald in a Police Dept basement surrounded by 75 cops (but none walking in front of Oswald) is Allen Dulles, who'd headed the CIA for the previous ten years - being fired by President Kennedy for lying and treason; And then being brought back to serve as de facto head of the Warren Commission by Lyndon Johnson. Curiously, LBJ is the only guy in this Keystone Cop's classic with means, motive & opportunity to greenlight the Kennedy assassination. Lee certainly didn't have a motive; He stated to many people, very often, that he supported JFK. But screw it, think what you want. Nothing is going to be done about it anyway.

Don't know if Richard Belzer's book covers this individual: William Bruce Pitzer. He was a Navy officer who worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital in 1963. He was in charge of photographyat the autopsy rooms of Bethesda Naval Hospital. He was there when JFK's body was being autopsied and he had taken some photographs. He was going to retire, in several years, and go traveling with his wife.He told several people (just before retiring) that he was going to write a book about the JFK asassination.Shortly after this, he was found dead in his office with a gun shot wound to his head and a revolver lying on the floor by his chair.

He was interrogated all day Saturday and half of Friday plus caught in numerous lies which made him have to create new lies. He thought speaking would make him appear innocent since "taking the fifth" is evidence of guilt (at least to half the population). Oswald attempted to kill Gen Edwin Walker missing due to bullet glancing off window rail. Ballistics after JFK showed Oswald's rifle was the one that fired the round missing Walkers head by an inch or so. Oswald committed two homicides Nov 22 63 and an attempted but did not realize a bullet hit JFK and Gov Connolly since Connolly was directly in front of JFK in Oswald's view. That shot has been repeated in tests but not by FBI who cannot aim correctly. Jack Ruby was then a couple days late silencing Oswald. Oswald was not a spy and Ruby was not Mafia but both fit the profile for the actions they committed. The reporter did not ask what you said he asked. Look and listen again. What style of bolt action was the Carcano? Fleeing the scene of a crime is and woud be used as evidence of guilt. He was the only employee who left early. For example, to assume that an actor is meandering about politics is to miss the mark. Luv Richard Belzer!!!! Saw his stand-up at a Boston comedy club called Duck Soup/early 90's. After the show ended our table hung out for a bit finishing our drinks - Mr. Belzer strolled up to our table (we were the only one's left) He asked if we enjoyed the show and we answered that it was great. Even though we were the only one's left in the club he chatted with us, apologized that he had to leave. After he left a waitress came up with a fresh round of drinks and said " Mr. Belzer ordered a round for you folks" Very nice gentleman and provided such a fun memory :)

There are still way too many people that buy into the BS that the government continues to this day, on the eve now of almost 60 years after the Assassination. Dorothy had something or like so many others, she too would have lived long enough to break the story. One or two little coincidences I can understand, but when there are just so many thatvyou can't possibly explain them all away after 60 years, then there's a problem. The theories don't even die with the people who originated them. Too much evidence to the contrary. The only one that can't be proven be yond a reasonable doubt, that never would have held up in court was that Oswald was the lone nut killer of JFK and Officer Tippit. Any decent Public Defender could have won him an aquital. Dallas Police knew that in 1963.

@@peterfraser9070 I realize Wikipedia isn't necessarily to be trusted, but I don't think I've ever seen one so scathingly critical of the subject as the one for that book. Also, it is a fiction. A mock trial of Lee Oswald and Jack Ruby based entirely on the Warren Commission report and no other sources. Since there was no actual trial, any defense presented would have to be entirely fictional (since he didn't take any other sources into account) and, being a lawyer himself, the author might be inclined to present the weakest defense he could to make his case seem stronger. In short, it is (likely) a one-sided farce. Recommending people read that book is essentially recommending that they read a significantly longer, yet possibly more entertaining (doubtful, given its massive length), version of the Warren Commission report itself ... at over 1600 pages, I think I'd pass and just read the report.

I remember that day very clearly. I was 8 yrs old and in the school gym. We were sitting on the floor taking a break. The huge loud speaker screeched, and then our Principal began to speak " President Kennedy has been shot and has died " It echoed in the gym . I imagine they wanted to wait until we were at home to hear the news being hopeful he would recover , but sadly he did not survive. I knew all about our President, my parents born in 1901 and 1908 were not born to money and were among those that fought for workers rights and therefore strong Union Democrats. And I have proof of that, a picture of my mother standing with 3 other women all Union Shop Stewards standing next to Vice President Harry Truman in his office in Washington DC. They are gone now but I am so lucky to have them as loving parents and proud of them for fighting for the rights of all that come after them. So JFK was a staple on our TV. And the pride that an Irishman was President. At first after the announcement a complete silence hung over the gym for what seemed like hours , but then the crying broke that silence. After returning home my parents were in shock , , mourning and confused how such a horrible thing could happen to such a fine young man our President and hope that they had in him. Jackie's blood stained dress and then I remember the shiny black horse-drawn hearse, with the riderless horse ( Black Jack ) carrying a pair of polished, spurred boots placed backward in the saddle's stirrups, and a saber following behind pulling at the bit all the way. John John saluting his father as it passed by. Then the last, Jackie lighting the Eternal Flame ! That was many years ago , but the memories bring back such a feeling of loss and sadness , for what might have been. 😢

39:30 _Dallas was a hotbed of racism_ I'm not making the connection here. His claim is that the government and the mob worked together to take out JFK, but then he seems to be trying to regionalize the assassination, linking the shooting to racism in Dallas. Yes, there was racism in the South in 1963, but look at all of the people who turned out to cheer JFK that day. As somebody who grew up in N. Texas in the 60s I can do without remarks like that.

The message sent that fateful November day, in Dallas. Hasn't been lost on anyone. Kennedy came to the realization that the president isn't the most powerful man in the free world. TPTB were surprised that their vetting had failed them. So here we are still waiting for ALL the Kennedy files to be released. If the case against LHO were rock solid there wouldn't be any reason to withhold the report from day one.

I think he has done a good job with the "Hit List" but one thing that Judy Vary (Oswald's mistress in New Orleans) said is that Oswald could drive but had to pose as this shifty, semi-employed man. Hey , Brother Bruce- The 6.5 mm Carcano was a ,' Mauser pattern' rifle. A bolt action rifle is commonly called a Mauser if it has a claw extracter which is a sleeve of metal bound to the bolt, and extending beyond the bolt head. The extracter has a claw which partly wraps around the rear of the cartridge and reliably pulls the cartridge out of the rifle.. This was important because the Mauser was used as the primary battle weapon by German Troops in World Wars 1 and 2 .. Battle rifles have to have a reliable means of working under all conditions, Rain, snow, dirt and dust. So the question becomes one of accuracy.... best Bruce Peek

I've seen much of the material Belzer presents in a cruder form on several internet sites. He pulls it together using his performance, P.R.skills and connections into a credible, readable, popular-style book. Whether his research preceded, coincided or followed the work I've seen matters little: he puts himself in a precarious place and I admire his courage. He's a respected artist and shows a strong streak of perseverance and ability to bring more attention to this important subject.

I’ve heard everything you had to say about the Assassination many times - it’s too bad because your topic about the related deaths are known of, but never hear anyone talk about the actual deaths in detail. @@aaronz7056 Well, one of the deputies said he saw a Mauser rifle behind a crate of books, but Oswald supposedly used a the Carcano, a different rifle. Also, Oswald would have had to run across the BD 6th floor room, dodging stacked book crates, down the stairs and into the break room within less than a minute when the police showed up and questioned who he was. The officer said Oswald was drinking a coke and was not out of breath. Furthermore, the pristine bullet shows that someone without any ballistics knowledge was trying to fool people. Serial liar Roger Craig later claimed the gun was a Mauser... but only years after firmly asserting to the Los Angeles Free Press in 1968 he couldn't ID the gun because he "didn't know foreign rifles!" Nobody else said they found a Mauser. Nobody. News film clearly shows the gun to be a Mannlicher-Carcano: Oswald's gun, to which all bullets and fragments ever found were matched. I've yet to hear any conspiracy theorist explain why some conspiracy would be so stupid as to leave the wrong kind of rifle, or even multiple rifles, lying around the crime scene. @@fazole Oswald's run.... Oswald was seen in the lunch room some 90 seconds after the shots, *exactly* enough time for him to make his way down there, hear people come running up the stairs (and note they never saw any unidentified persons coming down from the sixth floor), and duck into the lunch room, where Officer Baker saw him walking away from the door further into the room. He didn't say a word about Oswald drinking a Coke. He said Oswald was *holding* a Coke. Oswald hastily grabbed the first can handy, and reportedly didn't even drink Coke anyway (he was a Dr. Pepper man).
