Just a long irreplaceable beautiful and imploring prayer prayed in the right Welsh and proper way. Dylan Thomas, not a drop was wasted not a drop was lost.
Two Welsh wizards who adored the English language and words. Books and talent got them out of the depressed, rain soaked valleys and onto pastures new. Mesmerizing. I'm proud to be Welsh..
Richard was of my time. when will we again hear a voice of his quality.I played in 1973 Under Milk Wood in the international festival of drama,in Monaco, A wonderful time was had by the Bridgend Castle players. John Jones wrote a monologue of our exciting journey, from Suitcases piled high on Paddington station, to performing on Monaco TV with an excerpt of our play , We put on stage makeup for the TV and all looked like gargoyles !!!. Every night was party night with theatre people from all corners of the world.Oh those days.
@Jedermann101Two masters of the old school . Thomas writes poetry from his heart while Burton reads from his soul. The world is a poorer place without them
This recording is the sleep aid for Johnny Depp. He listens to this whenever he can't fall asleep which he claims can be several times a week, this has been his sleep routine for years.
@@metrisch I know it was from the lp - but that doesn't mean it was a good choice by the record company either. But I do admire your tribute to his reading.
I miss the melody that plays in Dylan's voice when he reads this same poem, also take your time for the words, it's a poem not a narrative. Also why is the part (our ruin in the spinnet where owls do wink and squirrels climb. Is aged bu half a minute. By strumble or by Dinas head... Our Herron head) so oft left out? Nonetheless a lovely voice, for fluent text.
this giant of a talent went to his maker too soon, as a great many Welsh men have , both past and present. What is it that drives the welsh men to self destruction with alcohol ? a subject for a D Phil .... Mollymac
