That is a PCV catch can. It is common to place the Hellcat’s can next to the washer fluid reservoir as the right side is vented. If it deadheads, it’s a catch can, and if it circulates back to the intake, it’s an oil separator. The difference is typically a wadding made of metal strands that allows the oil to condensate in the oil separator and not be vented back into the intake, and on a catch can it will instead have a filtered vent.
@adamhayden5152
@adamhayden5152 Год назад
It’s not a catch can, it has vacuum hoses running to it. I have a catch can installed on my car…
@raredesign
@raredesign Год назад
@@adamhayden5152As I mentioned, if it circulates back to the intake, then it’s an oil separator. A hose from a catch can “is” a vacuum line; that’s how it works. The PCV is circulated back to the intake for emissions regulation.
@outka5tz
@outka5tz Год назад
I mean either way they are both catching the oil. Feels like one of those deals where "oil separator" means it always goes back to the intake and "catch can" may or may not go back to the intake.
@raredesign
@raredesign Год назад
@@outka5tz yes, separator goes back to the intake, and catch can vents to atmosphere. When you do a high boosted build, you have to vent faster, so definitely go open. I went with a FatFab catch can on my Mustang with dual large vents and use -10 AN fittings for both PCV bungs on my valve covers.
@adamhayden5152
@adamhayden5152 Год назад
@@raredesign it’s not a oil separator or anything to do with blowby etc. the lines are far to small. I have seen many different catch can setups and none have lines that small. In fact I’m upgrading my catch can to Tracy Lewis’s.

fair but here's the counter point to it tho too, the engine is obviously the selling point of this car from Dodge, but still everything else is garbage & it just brings down the whole value of the car & it's aesthetics, but on the other side of Chrysler you also have Ram & Jeep with the TRX & Trackhawk & they're absolutely gorgeous inside & out in my opinion & once you sit in them you feel proper as everything should be... between the full size digital display on the TRX & just the look & feel of the leather stitching & the snug fit of the Trackhawk seats you feel it's money well spent compared to the charger where i'm pretty sure everyone feels or at least agrees to the interior being a drab, & you get the engine's oomph & ear to ear smile in those things like the charger... James, it’s a muscle car, not a luxury car. You can get every interior piece in leather in a Porsche, if you’re willing to pay for it. But those cost the same as the Dodge plus an extra $150,000. Even BMW’s new i7 has cloth interior!

7:08 oil catch. Pretty simple but effective peripheral for direct injects. It basically acts as a blow-by alleviate in function via the hose and the can does what the name suggests: catching the nasty output emitted from the crankcase stopping it from getting into your manifold. You can even make one yourself. Anything is better than nothing. It can get annoying though bc you do have to remember to regularly empty and clean.

It's an aftermarket catch tank as the hemis are heavy breathers, I've had the pleasure of driving the chargers and challengers and I can honestly say in the UK there not well fitted but the 5 door charger is slightly more suited over the challenger, the build quality is very shoddy in a lot of places and if the battery goes dead it's a pain getting into the boot too get the emergency boot release so you can charge the battery, The engines have weak points the 6.4 MDS issues are a big pain in the but and the water pump issues The gearbox is out of a Merc sprinter and HS been the same box since 2008, There loud and fun when accelerating but give it a corner and all it wants to do is go side ways,

when the battery dies you can pop the hood and use a jump box or jumper cables to energize the system, there are battery posts under hood for this. once energized you just press the trunk open button, no need to climb into the trunk from the back.
