Americans can't figure that out because they're too busy being "proud", which is what any civilization steeped in ignorance must be.
While democracy is inefficient and nonsensical at times, it is certainly better than monarchy. Maybe you should read the history play that the professor is speaking about or even a history book.. Look at the horrible 100 Year’s War, the bloody War of the Roses, the deadly civil war between the Parliament and Charles II. And that’s just Medieval English history!
