Never heard of this version before. It's interesting that Benson does not play Richard as a hunchback, stepping outside theatrical tradition, there.

Fascinating to see Franks uncanny resemblance to Basil Rathbone. Or vice versa rather lol.

Edward, the son of Henry VI and Anne Neville, is killed at the Battle of Tewsbury at the age of 17. Richard marries Anne and they have a son Edward. He dies at 10 years of age and is buried with 100 Gold Angels. Two teenagers in 1992 search for and find Edward's grave and the coins. But in so doing release The spirit of Edward who confronts them.../great novel by Dylan Thomas (not the poet).

Is Arthur Machen anywhere to be seen in this movie? The legendary author left Benson't company 1910, and this movie had _premiere_ 1911, so it is not entirely impossible.

Sorry, Edward was son of Henry VI and MARGARET OF ANJOU! R III and Edward's wife Anne Neville had their own Edward son!

I like how he just tosses the bible and crucifix after they all leave. And poor Buckingham, so insignificant that he doesn't even get a mention in the text, even though he was in there :P

Why does wikipedia list this movie as being 55 minutes?

I don't know whether you're still wondering, but you might have been looking at the article on a different adaptation from the next year: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_III_(1912_film)

@@zanehuttinga1699 Thanks, is that version available on RU-vid? (Also, sorry for the long delay in response, RU-vid never notified me that I got a reply).

@@raydarable Not as far as I know. Kino Lorber sells a DVD copy, but I've never seen it on RU-vid.

@@zanehuttinga1699 It was on RU-vid for a short while, then the channel that uploaded it was taken down. The movie's in the public domain, it shouldn't be this hard to find.

@@raydarable I would guess the issue is that Kino or someone else put money into restoring it, and now that specific restoration is under copyright, but no other versions are readily available. Also, the score on the DVD is probably copyrighted.

I really like how the princes look. their boys right? I don't know why girls in times like this dressed up as boys or women dress up men and act male roles that's weird

Men took on the female roles. Women were not allowed in a theatre production.

The younger one is listed as a girl in the credits on IMDM, which doesn't surprise me.

The younger one might even be Ellen Terry! Not sure how old she was in 1911.
