Feel compelled to comment on the issue of alcohol which was only briefly mentioned, but affects so many people. I am a 62 year old woman who was secretly drinking most days in the afternoon- not massive amounts but enough to know it was not good for me. I also suffered from many years of painful gut issues. Once I changed to low carb eating, my guts recovered and to my total surprise I nolonger felt the need to secretly drink alcohol everyday. It took 3weeks to break the habit of visiting my secret stash, but it was manageable by distraction techniques. My life is transformed and my marriage relationship greatly improved along with many other health benefits of eating low carb / unprocessed.

Congratulations, Annette! 👏👌 Regarding the alcohol issue, if you ever find cravings slipping in, please look at my playlist (under "Alcohol") and watch the first 3 or so videos addressing biochemical repair. It worked wonders for me when I was drinking (quite heavily but functioning😌) and trying to quit. Now, I don't even consider it an option even when around others drinking in front of me. Hope you find it useful. 🙏😉✌️

I like the statement "I could be wrong" it is a honest scientific approach. To many times we bring about what we think about. Research expecting discovery can limit Research.

My husband and I were carboholics and went to a low carb diet about a year and a half ago, with the last 8 months mostly carnivore way of eating. He healed his fatty liver disease and joint pain and I healed my 30 year history of fibromyalgia, bladder pain, and IBS. There were times when we would do a cheat day and we both agreed it wasn't worth it, as we felt like crap afterwards. It took several months, but now neither of us are interested in eating carbs anymore. Like Annette, I also used to drink daily, but have lost interest in that as well. I was shocked when I discovered that the fiber from fruits and veg were the cause of my chronic constipation, bloating, and gas. Even small amounts of fructose triggers me to want to eat more, and the cravings sometimes last for a few days. When we go out to eat, we just eat meat. No problem at all.

Excellent historical perspective. Thirty years, hence, was an enlightening discussion.

Interesting point: A low-carb diet also has the effect of eliminating the majority of processed frankenfood. That can avoid a whole bunch of the processed/refined seed oils, if you are paying attention.

That's interesting that another nephrologist also took a similar route, Dr. Jason Fung; specializing in kidney disease and now is heavily into diabetes and obesity research (wrote The Obesity Code and The Diabetes Code, among others). It's so good to see so many smart minds connecting the same dots!👌🙏✌️

There is nothing remotely hard about being on a low carb diet whether you're at home, office , or on the road. A tiny bit of planning, some smart easy pack foods...once you see what low carb can do for your body and brain, no one can induce you to eat junk. Excuses are cheap.

I’m very suspicious when anyone says ‘we can make a drug to do or block xyz!’

Don't be. Be curious. Our scientific technology, many times, can correct Mother Nature's deleterious mechanisms🤔

He only nicked on obesinigenics and the fact that environment is behind weight gain like microplastics and exposure to diesel exhaust particulates. This Doctor is brilliant!

So disappointing to have this brilliant man selling out ( possibly as a result of research grants ) to link climate change and obesity! ‘Heat stress causing people to drink sugar drinks’! Really! Give me a break. You have lost me.
