I've seen Richard live, alone on stage twice, in the same venue 5 years apart. He brought the house down BOTH times! He's also a very nice, gracious man with a wicked sense of humor. He went and sat at the merch. table both times, and chatted easily with his fans. Awesome! He's the REAL THING!
Richard Thompson is GOD. If he never played an instrument, he'd be one of the world's greatest songwriters. If he never wrote a song, he'd be one of the world's greatest guitarists. And he's a pretty good singer too!
Dave Mattacks and Dave Pegg on drums and bass; John Kirkpatrick on Accordion; I've always seen this (and the live Calvary Cross with the same line-up) as more of a quartet than a solo.
