This is the one video I ever made where my touring schedule made it impossible for me to weigh in and collaborate with the director on the concept, so I simply had to trust his vision and just show up and take direction. Back in 1992 when we shot it, I really had no idea what the hell it was about. But after all these years, I have to admit that.....I still don't have a clue. ~ Richard Marx

I was a Production Assistant on this shoot, and b/c Richard was not able to travel to Moab Valley in Utah, that's me in the wide shots walking, running down the sand dunes, spreading my arms pretending to be Richard. Somewhere I have a picture of the two of where we shot at the aquaducts in LA. Richard you were a pro and very kind. Thanks for another great story in my life.

This song reminds me of a girl I met when I was in the Navy. The ship I was on stopped in Panama City Panama to take on food stores fuel and new crew members .While we were there I was introduced to a local girl through friends of hers and shipmates from my ship. the day before my ship was to leave Panama City Panama the girl and I were holding each other crying. I should have asked to remain in Panama City Panama. the girls first name is Jenny. and Jenny if you read this I never stopped loving you. You will always hold a special place in my heart Jenny and I wish I could hold you again. Jenny has put chains around my heart. when Richard says the line love is a stranger avoiding me that is exactly how I feel.

Heard this way back when new, just woke up in the middle of the night (radio on low) this was playing and I was stunned, just sat there and cried, and thought of a (17-year- on & off) relationship since grade 8 !!! and finally just let go and moved on... Thanks Rich.

This was the song the radio played when I was talking to Richard Marx when he was on air at one of the radio stations in Malaysia during his visit back in the 90s. So whenever I listen to this song, i always remember that particular moment.. wish I have a chance to go to one of his concerts in the near future.. he’s definitely one of my favorite male singers until now..

+tysoon363636 -If I recall as a kid, it was the last single off Rush Street in late 1992 or early 93. And by then the 80s soft rock power ballad sound was going away. But I agree with you, I honestly prefer it over his other big ballads (hold on to the nights and right here waiting).

This song always takes me back to Christmas 2 short months after my mother passed away.Driving in a snow storm up north to the cemetery.Parking roadside cause they don`t plow in there and walking through the deep snow to her grave,digging away the snow to put a wreath on it.Soaking wet i laid there listening to this on repeat on my compact CD player.Missing her so much and I didn`t want her to be alone on her favorite holiday.
