Food addiction is real, binge eating is real. Attachment to food to feel good in the moment is an addiction, I’ve struggled with it and still do.

Binge eating disorder is the most common eating disorder... I struggled for around ten years. It's not an addiction, it's a compulsion. Feels the same though, effects your life the same way, but recovery is different. You can recover though, dangerous to say otherwise.

Addiction is a powerful illness! Somebody that doesn’t have an addictive personality generally can’t fully understand! It’s like having a parrot on your shoulder every minute of the day

This is the origin of the phrase "monkey on your back".

Nonsense. Addiction is not an illness. And an “addictive personality” is excuse making, rubbish. I’ve recently given up smoking, alcohol, caffeine and now sugar. And I feel I had to do it otherwise it would have made my illness, cancer worse. I had no choice whether I, or many others around the world get cancer and have no choice in that decision. I did have a choice on whether to give up all those other things, and I did. And it was bloody hard. Giving up nicotine and sugar, being particularly hard (I think many “alcoholics and “food addicts”, are actually just craving sugar) but I did it, I made that choice and done it. I have no choice as to whether I can stop my cancer or not, but I had a choice in whether I opened that other can of beer.
