Richard Pryor meets Richard & Willie and the SLA

This is the controversial long out-of-print party album RICHARD PRYOR MEETS RICHARD & WILLIE AND THE SLA from 1976 but don't be mislead by the title. Pryor and Richard & Willie don't perform together this LP. Pryor's segments are moments from his 1972 album CRAPS. The Richard & Willie segment are very funny but if you weren't of age around 1976 you won't get most of the material. Enjoy

Thanks for posting this! The last line of the "Transplant" bit was also the lead-in to a song by 2 Live Crew. I knew it was a Richard Pryor bit, but I had never heard it on any of his albums up until now. Took 35 years to sort that one out.

I first heard this album in 1981 at my cousin house in Chesapeake, Virginia. We had to turn the volume down so his parents didn't hear. The best I ever heard.

Here is the story of how a friend and I became fans of Richard Pryor: It's Christmas time in 1986 or so. My mom buys a cassette of Christmas songs at the local grocery store from a cardboard display, paying maybe 2 dollars. The paper wrapper reads "Silent Night", the printing on the cassette does too. She brings it home and pops it in as we go to decorate the tree. What comes on? Yup! "Tonight ladies and gentlemen, Richard Pryor meets Richard and Willie and the SLA". My mom was going to return it to the store. I snagged it to go play for my friend. We listened and listened. Hundreds of times. Things from this album became part of the shorthand among our group of friends for years afterward. "Here's another tape from our daughter Patricia, lets turn it on and hear what she has to sayyyyy.... CLICK". Shouting "CLICK" became a thing that had a life of its own. I could go on but you probably don't care. Cheers RP fans! This album holds a special place

I first heard this in 1977 when my mother met my soon to be stepfather. I played it for my friend Jeff and we often quote lines from this in certain situations and people look at us like we are crazy because we are cracking up and they don’t understand it...🤣 . I’m watching the Patty Hearst series on CNN as we speak!! 🤣🤣🤣

MAN!!! I have been looking 4 this album. My neighbor had this album along with some Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx albums. Back in the mid-70's we would listen to this while playing dominoes and cards, when our parents were at work during the summer. Great memories!

Richard & Willie's material was VERY funny on this album. Laff records didnt need 2 use Pryor's name and material 2 sell this album. Their material stands on its on. Laff used Pryor to cash in on his comedy success in the mid to late 70s.

Richard Sanfield...the best most underrated comic of the 20th century. I don't know why he did not become mainstream. I guess because he was too socially conscious and talked about the stuff White people ran away from. You say well, Richard Pryor did much of the same material and he went mainstream. Well, Pryor played it smart. Pryor told innocent, Bill Cosby jokes, and blended in with the white establishment. This is how he got a foothold in Hollywood society. When he made his name, then he went awol. Hollywood did not know how Pryor really was living, and had lived. Pryor was blacker than Black, and had a more tragic background than the average brother. The rest is history! Now back to Sanfield. If he's still living, he's in his 70s by now. I think his timing is better than Foxx's. It had to be, he was doing two things at once...operating the dummy and telling jokes for both of them!!!

Gerald McCarter Better than who???? You're out of you're mind . Foxx was in a class by himself So good he had a show!!!!! Played all over and helped hundreds if not thousands of people
