When this aired, I was 19-20 and I lived alone, no television. I never heard of this. I could cry...Pryor's sincerity as he's talking to the camera, talking to kids...you can see how much he cared. Rest easy Richard 🌹

I had a bully like this as well; I picked up a pole and beat the shit outta him! He got some of his boys and they ganged up on me. Then My cousins and I beat the snot out of him again. The back in forth went on for a while and one day, we never saw him again....Someone shot him. (Then I heard the theme song to Pryor's Place and everything was fine again)

I remember Fat Albert, The Electric Company (1971-77), and the Children's Television Workshop children's programing when I was a kid back in Brooklyn NY. During the 70's and 80's and living in the projects, I saw things that I never should have at that age (7 to 12 yrs old). Running home after school to watch these shows probably saved my life. I never really got into Pryor's Place due to the fact that The Electric Company was more gritty, had an edge to it, yet educational and fun to watch. To this day I'm so grateful to Mr Pryor (RIP) and to all those educators that saw this as a wonderful tool to reach children of all kinds.

I remember this show! It's been decades, so I had completely forgot that it existed. The Ray Parker tune was definitely the best way to start a show. It didn't last long, only a few months, I think, but there were a lot of guest stars that would show up, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Sammy Davis Jr. It actually was a pretty good show. It was part of the Saturday cartoons.

When this show aired, I was 10 years old. And I’ll never forget a particular episode where this black kid’s parents were getting a divorce. Now understand my parents have been married for over 50 years and have always been in my life. So as a kid, my young mind couldn’t understand how his parents could divorce. I thought that if they truly loved each other, they could work things out. But as a 49 year old man, I completely understand now! lol I was innocent and naïve. Now I know that even love can’t keep you together. But I’ve never forgotten about that episode.

Rest in peace Richard. I'm 53 years old and I'll be honest. I didn't even know he had a kids show and to me it was really shocking considering how he is on stage I'm sure it broke him up when he was canceled you can tell he was very sincere about this it was very important to him, I saw he's really wanted to make a difference. This was really a smart move, surprised that was canceled. Seems like it would have been a good show at the time. Had black people had more power back then I'm sure it would have stayed on the air because he had a lot of pull. I guess this is his rendition of Sesame Street I think it's wonderful. Seriously, this was awesome. What a shame that it was . He seemed so sincere speaking to the kids and you can tell this is really what happened to him I'm sure he was bullied by someone calling themselves, meat rack. Really this was awesome thanks for putting it up for everyone to see. Way2go Sir Richard Pryor...😇 he was so sincere as he was speaking to the camera to the children in TV Land. Rest easy Richard rest easy

I just found this by accident a few days ago. I never knew this show existed. Is a damn shame that those with power in the media, never truly PROMOTED this show. Then they quickly canceled it. Them racist folks did not give this a chance to succeed by design. They don't like black people to excel by seeing positive images of ourselves. But they have no problem showing us as gangsters, thieves, killer's, robbers etc etc. This program would have help develop the minds of all children to become good respectable citizens in society. I'm grateful the person who uploaded this video. I'm letting all my black friend's and relatives know so they can have their kid's watch this show.

I sincerely hope you upload the rest of these, eventually. I looked for years and finally found some old VHS recordings, but they're all out of sync., and as far as I know, there's never been an official release. This show was priceless.

This whole episode reminds me of "Everyone Hates Chris". Looks like comedians found ways to find laughter even in their hardships.

This is the comment I was looking for. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the secret inspiration for Everybody Hates Chris. A show about a comedian growing up being bullied and all narrated by the comedian

OMG, this is amazing. Our old school tv shows are still great. Richard Pryor (Mount Rushmore)
