You bet. I still remember his show, and "Here comes the Judge!" My father was hysterical. I looked up what happened to him some time ago, and it was sad. He should have had a very long career.
That's what I thought! God this was wonderful just what I needed today. I've already sent this to two people because we all needed to just have some joyful humor that was just so outrageously wonderful. Too too funny.
Telling the truth about why he would demean himself by dressing in drag. Dave Chappelle told us thats how they humiliate men. He refused and was blackballed.
So true! Back then we had great entertainment where the jokes were so funny it made you cry with laughter. Those were the days of clean entertainment and clean enjoyment.
@@annalanzotti-venrick3989 Loved 😍 FLIP ❤️ And that Geraldine W0W.When she would be talking to Killa and that walk!! I do miss FliP and Geraldine 🕊️❤️🕊️ RIP my friend!
I'm 83 years old -- I remember when Flip Wilson made the concept of Black Comedy a bit more socially acceptable. Seeing him on stage with Richard Pryor was a real treat -- They were masters of humor, and legends of comedy.
When the Dear Wife and I go out, I ALWAYS request "The boof in d'back, in d'corner, in d'dark." Some people crack up -- others act like they seen a zombie.
Geraldine was the first drag performance I recall seeing as a child. My mother always laughed at drag performances but my father was worried I'd grow up to do the same. My Judy Garland is spot on.
AMEN PREACH THE TRUTH❣ WHAT HAD TV COME TOO? ITS AWFUL I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH, IT'S THE SAME THING, MURDER, CRIME, POLICE, BAD PEOPLE... ON TOP OF THAT, WE WATCHED TV 30 YEARS AGO, BRINGING BACK THE SAME THING ALL OVER AGAIN BUT OLDER... WOW THIS HAS TO STOP! GET BRAND NEW STUFF, WITH BRAND NEW PEOPLE, AND I DON'T MEAN KIDS.. MATURE ADULTS... JEEZE
I used to LOVE watching Flip Wilson!! I’d sit with my Grandfather and watch him every week! I miss watching all of the comedy shows in the 60’s & 70’s!
This man was a prize! We laughed so hard whenever we watched him.. Such talent ..wonder if he’d be ‘cancelled’ today for his humor.. Everyone today finds something to attack and remove the ability for us to laugh at ourselves.
@@zulaikagould9230 yep I all most got fired for saying something I said 40 years a go Kids are sensitive now a days. They need to grow up and have fun like we did.
I got made fun of all the time and we thought it was funny. I was asked what an Italians car tire sounded like when it went flat? It goes "wop wop wop wop" and I was called "lasagna" big deal lol We knew how to take a joke etc. Not today...wow.
Hahaha! Now that I think of it no we never did see killer but I always had a mental image of him being some big tough dude about to bust in the door any moment to defend Geraldine 😂😂😂
As a little white girl in Southern Illinois, Flip Wilson was my favorite! And now I see he was just as great as I thought he was. Obviously the man liked women a lot, too. And, of course, Geraldine was a favorite.
Ralph Edward’s clearly ad libbed that line. Wilson wasn’t pleased but ignored it and did not respond to it. This was the 70s and Geraldine was meant to be a woman and not a drag Queen.
I loved his talents, he could give you a belly laugh and brighten a dark time. So many of us would like to say a belated thank you, you gave of yourself endlessly and I truly say thank you sir.
So, as a little girl growing up on the east side of Detroit in the 1970s, I loved variety shows. And my dad loved Flip Wilson, the Smothers Brothers, and Laugh-In, all of which I was allowed to watch (I was only 3 I think, though, when the SB got cancelled). I loved Geraldine, the way she dressed, the way she acted - she was a role model. I mean at that age, I didn't know what racism was because I treated everyone the same. My folks didn't tell me to hate black people, and they had prejudices themselves - but they never pushed them on me. I still have my dad's copy of "Cowboys and Colored People" and my son loves it.
Wow !! You were little then! I was in high school and faithfully watched Flip Wilson and the Smothers Brothers. My dad loved all of the shows you mentioned.
I sometimes got to watch Laugh In when I was a little kid - even though it was past my bedtime - they screened it on Australian TV. I loved the German Soldier and Goldie (of course) “Sock it to me!”
Seeing Flip Wilson do “Geraldine” was the best part of the show. As a little girl, for some reason I was fascinated by his wig. He looked great dressed as a woman! I loved his mod clothes too!
Yeah she was! "Hey, Fannie...what is your last name?" "Fast, faster and outta sight!!" rofl!! Actress Bhetty Waldron. May she rest in peace! She was also on Good Times, The Jeffersons, she played a hooker on All In The Family and her last role was in CSI: Miami. She played an uncredited nurse. She started the West Palm Beach, Florida, Quest Theater and Institute that promotes dramatic training for black children.
@@FrankiesFancy Thanks for providing that information. She certainly made an impression in all her roles and Fast Fannie, for me, was and will always be her iconic performance.
Wow I watched Flip Wilson back then I don’t remember this one it was hilarious!!🤣🤣 Even Ralph Edwards had good laughs!🤣 Flip Wilson was “Prime Time” variety show back then. Great live entertainment singers performers of the Era!⭐️❤️📺 Rip FW and many others since.🌹
My first time watching Jerald Deen and it's hilarious 😆 maybe the can show some reruns comedy is comedy a belly full of laughter 🤣 😆 😂 takes the pressure off the ❤
I grew up on Flip Wilson and Geraldine was my favorite character. The skit in which she appeared in a Play Boy bunny like costume and when she crashed the girls' singing group are my favorites.
Quiet as it’s kept, Flip’s Geraldine was the predecessor to Martin Lawrence’s Shenehneh and Jamie Fox’s Wanda, The Ugly Girl and perhaps even Steve Urkell’s Myrtle Urkell! So many laughs with this Geraldine skit. CLASSIC!
Flip was a good man. I loved watching this show as a kid. There was racist humor and it was funny! I love the reverend and Geraldine. It's so good to see this available! 💖
Flip Wilson was one of best comedians. I loved his style and I enjoy watching the videos thats shown these days. I enjoy watching his reruns when I find them on TV.
back in the early 70's I was bearly a teenager and Flip would stay at his brothers house who was my next door neighbor in San Jose, CA when he was not making tv shows. Flip and my mother were good friends and Flip would have lunches and dinners at my house. Flip was a real nice man, and we enjoyed each other company. Togther we would sit on the front or back porch and talk, tell stories. My mom would sometimes call out the back door Geraldine, its supper time !
