Richard, what are the thickness and width of your scraper? It looks a little thicker than what I have seen. BTW, thanks for pointing out how you flatten the top first. Very useful.
I like a bevel approaching 45 degrees with the edge skewed about 15 degrees. I do hone scrapers but not gouges or skews unless using them for scraping or shear scraping.
