Wow, they REALLY diverged from the books. Panis Rahl is Richard's grandfather while Darken Rahl was his father. His only known siblings were his treacherous brothers Dreyfus and Oba, and his sister Jenna...

Taken out of context that scene is badass. Great find, thanks for sharing! I like that the show focused on tough D'Haran soldiers rather than the mindless sheep doing the devotion at the People’s Palace. And of course it would make sense that the soldiers wouldn't kneel to Richard just because he said that he's a Rahl. Not after he killed so many D'Harans as the Seeker! It still baffles me that both Richard and Kahlan shunned their respective duties as rulers. Unlike so many oblivious book fans I understand that the show runnners didn't have the budget to film separate storylines for each of them, but something had to be done for the innocent D'Harans! And the prophecies could've been better handled. It showed that the production was rushed. Still, the older I get, the better I like the TV show over the book series. Richard and Kahlan were archetype protagonists on screen, not in the books: Richard was a tyrant no better than his father (I'm convinced that the show writers hinted at it in 2x01 when Richard explained why he was refusing to claim the throne) and Kahlan? She had no business being a damsel in distress as often as she was. Credit where credit is due, TG created a fascinating universe, the problem is that he didn’t actually build that universe. Many posts on several forums analyzed the problematic and frustratingly repetitive tropes of the books, but my personal pet peeve about the series is that the quality of the narration never improved. I can't believe that Wizard's First Rule was my favorite as a teenager. I'd read vastly better written fictions for school! The older I get, the more I understand why no one has tried to revive this universe (hope I'm jinxing it) even though the source material is right there. The show runnners and actors of LotS did the best they could, tweaking things around so that the main characters were actually likeable (Cara is likeable in either medium). I'll never stop watching random clips of the show, but I can't be bothered to re-read a paragraph of the books.

Wee Mike Ooh look, a child who can’t take criticism. I guess I have to be the one to tell you, the real world is full of criticism. It’s how you respond to it that shows what kind of a person you are. You can respond like a child or an adult. Now since you are so smart, you know that most shows try to stay as close to the source material as possible. With only a few changes made because of budget or because tv and books are two different mediums. This changed about 90%.

The show is like someone read the back of a book and a list of characters and decided to make something based on that. That being said, the casting choice was excellent. Especially for zedd.

@@Mikael22-18 Nobody has an issue w/ an adaptation making changes from the source material (that's always going to happen). But if the adaptation diverges too much and/or the changes don't make sense, people are going to criticize you.

The sad part is, they got most of the casting right IMO... Too bad they completely ruined the story. I get that you have to change it up a bit for TV but.... There's a reason it failed.. RIP Terry.. Rest In Peace.

Legend of the Seeker has reportedly been cancelled after two seasons. The show, loosely based on Terry Goodkind's The Sword Of Truth novels, starred Craig Horner in the lead role. ... However, Entertainment Weekly claims that they have failed to find a buyer for the series and it has been cancelled.Apr 27, 2010

@@esinpreciousjnr2998 Reading the books, They butchered the show, I get that they cant go directly on the book or you would have something like the Lord of the rings but they didn't even try to stick to it any premise of the books. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the show because it led me to the books but the show is crap compared to the books.
